Abstract

The planting device for inserting plants into filled containers comprises a core enclosed by a dividible sleeve which comprises two cylindrical halves which can be separated from each other only when the core has been removed from the sleeve. The sleeve and core can be made of plastics or metal. The device is inserted into the substrate whereupon the core is pulled out and the plant inserted into the hollow of the sleeve. Each half of the sleeve is then removed individually to avoid damaging the plant.

Description

Fig. 3-8 schaubildlich die aufeinanderfolgenden Schritte beim Einpflanzen

The insertion of plants into a substrate is often very tedious, especially if, like hydroponics, it is granular material such as expanded clay, gravel, charcoal, slag, brick chippings or another ceramic material. There is usually nothing left but to remove most of the substrate from the container and refill it after the plant has been inserted.

In containers for several plants, it has already been proposed to use special inserts which form cavities for any plants to be used later. However, this solution is unsatisfactory because it is determined beforehand by the placement of any plants to be used later and the empty cavities in the substrate also have an unaesthetic effect.

The invention aims to provide a device with which plants can be used at any time and anywhere in the container without having to remove the substrate.

The essential features of the invention result from claim 1. An embodiment of the invention is explained in more detail with reference to the drawing; in this show:

1 and 2, the setting tool and its parts in plan view and side view
Fig. 3-8 shows the successive steps in planting

2, which shows the parts in the pulled-apart state, the setting tool consists of a core piece 1 and the two sleeve halves 2 and 3. When the sleeves 2, 3 are pushed onto the core piece 1, as can be seen from FIG. 1, a Setting tool with a smooth, cylindrical outer surface and conical tip.

The handling and usefulness of the setting tool can be seen in FIGS. 3-8. First the assembled device is placed in the substrate, e.g. the expanded clay, inserted (Fig. 3), then pulled out the core 1 (Fig. 4) and the plant 5 inserted into the cavity of the sleeve (Fig. 5). Finally, one 2 (Fig. 6) and then the other 3 (Fig. 7) half of the sleeve is pulled out, which is possible without damaging the foliage of the plant.
