DESCRIPTION
DESCRIPTION
The present invention relates to a machine tool with a device
tool changer including a magazine on which are stored
tools, on which they are locked, the arrangement being such that said tools can be brought successively in the axis of a
work spindle which grabs them and releases them with a movement
axial relative between it and said store.
Such machine tools are known per se. The most general
the unlocking of tools allowing their installation and
their extraction from and from the magazine requires the intervention of an ad hoc control member, working in synchronism with the rest of the changer mechanism, acting on the locking device in order to release it.
The object of the present invention is to simplify the construction of such machines by eliminating the need for such a control member.
This object is achieved by the means defined in claim I.
The drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 is an elevational view of part of a machine tool.
Fig. 2 is a section of a detail of this machine on a larger scale, and
fig. 3 and 4 are sections of a detail on a still larger scale, represented in two different working positions.
The machine shown in fig. 1 comprises a vertical column 1 having two slides la on which a carriage moves 2 carrying two working units or spindles 3 and 4 whose axes, designated by 5 and 6, respectively, are parallel to the direction of movement of the carriage indicated by the axis 7. The working unit 4 is itself mounted on a slide 8 moving on the carriage 2 parallel to the axis 7.
The machine comprises two tool changers used to supply pins 3 and 4 respectively, of which only that of the latter has been shown, that of pin 3 being foreign to the present invention.
The tool changer device of the spindle 4 comprises an articulated arm, generally designated by 9, ending in a vertical sleeve 10 (fig. 2) in which the shaft, rotated by 11, is mounted d 'A tray 12 serving as a tool store.
This plate comprises for example twelve tool stations, distributed around its periphery, and is indexable. The mechanisms for controlling the movements of the arm 9 and the rotary movements of the plate 12 have not been shown, being foreign to the invention and being able to be of any known type. The assembly is arranged in such a way that the axis of each work station, designated by 13, can be brought to coincide with the axis 6 of the spindle 4.
The tools carried by the plate 12, generally designated by 14, each include the actual tool, such as for example the drill 14a shown in Fig 2 and 3, and a tool holder 1 4b secured to the tool itself. The tool holders each have a Morse taper for mounting on the machine spindle.
Each tool station comprises a sleeve 15 (fig 3 and 4) fixed to the plate 12, arranged perpendicular to the plane thereof, intended to receive a tool 14. The plate 12 further carries, arranged coaxially with the sleeves 15, flanges 16 in a diametrical groove 17 of each of which are articulated, on axes 18 perpendicular to the axis 13 of the sleeve 15, two claws 19 each formed of a lever of the first kind on one end 19a which bears a coil spring 20, working on compression, also bearing on the sleeve 15. The opposite end, designated by 19b, of each claw 19 has a projection 19c bearing, under the effect of the spring 20, on a frustoconical bearing 21 that presents the tool holder 14b.
Thus, the two claws 19, diametrically opposite with respect to the axis 13 of the tool station, act on the tool for locking in position in the sleeve 15 and preventing it from inadvertently leaving it.
The spindle 4 has a frustoconical nose 22 cooperating, when the spindle performs a downward movement in the direction of the magazine, as indicated by the arrow 23 in FIG. 3, in order to grab a tool or replace it on the magazine, with extensions 19d which have the ends 19b of the claws 19. As shown in FIG. 4, when the spindle occupies its end-of-travel position, its nose 22 acts on the claws 19 to move them against their return springs 20, thus opening them so that they allow passage to the tool. It can thus be extracted from the store or set up thereon. The locking means of the tool holder 14b in the spindle have not been shown, being known per se.
Thanks to this arrangement, the tools are released during their installation and removal from and from the magazine automatically by the simple relative axial movement between the spindle and the magazine, without it being necessary to implement any control or actuation member of the locking device.
It should be noted that the locking device of each tool station may include more than two claws distributed angularly equally around the axis 13, for example three claws arranged 120 from one another.
