Description
DESCRIPTION A scalpel according to the preamble of claim 1 is known from a company publication of Anton Meyer & Co. AG, CH-2501 Biel. It is a diamond scalpel for microsurgical operations. A shaft is slidably guided in a cylindrical handle. It is preloaded into its rear end position by a spring. At the rear end it carries a button with which it can be moved to its front end position and locked there by a bayonet lock. In this position, a diamond knife attached to the shaft protrudes from the front of the handle. This scalpel has proven itself very well. The diamond knife has the advantage over the normal steel scalpel that the cutting edge has a radius of curvature of only about 10 nanometers and can also be used in extreme, e.g. a thousandfold magnification has no nicks. This is why a diamond knife can be used to cut even very fine tissue parts without fiber formation. In addition, the cutting edge hardly ever becomes blunt due to the high hardness of the diamond. However, because of their extremely sharp cutting edge, diamond knives are very sensitive to side contact, especially from metal objects.
In the known scalpel mentioned, the shaft with the knife must be inserted into the handle from behind when changing. Even with careful insertion, there is a great risk that the knife may touch the wall of the handle and be damaged.
The present invention has for its object to avoid this disadvantage. This object is achieved by the characterizing features of opposition 1.
By inserting the insert into the handle from the front, it can be inserted without touching the knife. The container according to claim 8 is particularly suitable for protecting the knife during insertion and during transport.
Darin zeigt: Exemplary embodiments of the invention are explained below with reference to the drawing. It shows:
Fig. 1 einen Axialschnitt durch ein Skalpell, 1 shows an axial section through a scalpel,
Fig. 2 eine Variante der Ausführungsform nach Fig. 1, und Fig. 2 shows a variant of the embodiment of FIG. 1, and
Fig. 3 einen Teil eines Behälters für das Skalpell gemäss Fig. 1 oder 2. 3 shows part of a container for the scalpel according to FIG. 1 or 2.
The scalpel shown comprises a handle 1 consisting of a handle sleeve 2 and a guide sleeve 3 screwed into it at the front end. The sleeves 2, 3 are made of non-magnetic material, e.g. stainless steel or titanium. At the rear end, an annular, rustproof permanent magnet 4 is inserted into the grip sleeve 2. In this, a non-magnetizable shaft 5 is guided. A grip head 6 with an inserted permanent magnetic ring 7 is screwed onto the shaft 5 at the rear end. The magnets 4, 7 have the same direction of magnetization. A ferromagnetic ring 8 is attached to the shaft 5. A compression spring 9 is clamped between the ring 8 and the guide sleeve 3. At the front end, a further permanent magnet 10 is inserted into the shaft 5. This holds a ferromagnetic insert 11 guided in the guide sleeve 3 at its rear end. The insert 11 carries a diamond knife 12 at its front end. It is secured against rotation with respect to the sleeve 3 by a pin 13 inserted into the sleeve 3 at its rear end engaging in a longitudinal groove 14 of the insert 11. The insert 11 has a rectangular cross-section with two parallel side surfaces 15 at the section projecting beyond the sleeve 3 in the front end position of the shaft 5 shown.
When the grip head 6 is pulled, the shaft 5, supported by the spring 9, moves into its rear end position, in which it is held securely by the ring 8 resting on the permanent magnet 4. In the rear end position, the knife 12 is sunk in the guide sleeve 3 and is therefore protected from damage.
Im übrigen entspricht die Ausführungsform FIG. 2 shows a variant of the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 1. It differs from this in the coupling between the shaft 23 and insert 21 and the shape of the front section of the insert 21. The coupling is designed here as a snap connection and comprises an axial bore 24 at the front end of the shaft 23 with a groove 25 into which a slotted spring washer 26 is inserted. The insert 21 has an axial extension 27 with a groove 28 which snaps into the spring ring 26. The front section of the insert 21 also has a rectangular cross section with two parallel side surfaces 15, which, however, are delimited on both sides by radially projecting shoulders 30, 31. Otherwise, the embodiment corresponds

2 that of FIG. 1. In FIG. 3, one end of a container 40 for packaging the scalpel shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 is shown. It consists of an essentially U-shaped carrier 41 which is inserted into a sleeve, not shown, with a rectangular cross section. At both ends of the carrier 41, a holder 42 for inserting the insert 11, 21 is arranged transversely to its longitudinal extent on both sides of a central compartment for the handle 1. The holder 42 consists of two spaced-apart transverse walls 43, 44 with slots 45, 46, the width of which is slightly smaller than the distance between the two side surfaces 15. To remove the insert 11, 21, its front section is inserted into the slots 45, 46 from above and is thus held in the holder 42. Now handle 1 is pulled axially backwards, whereby the coupling between shaft 5, 23 and insert 11, 21 is released. For this purpose, the holding force of the holder 42 in the axial direction is greater than the coupling force of the insert 11, 21 with the shaft 5, 23. In the embodiment according to FIG. 1, this is achieved by a sufficient clamping force of the slots 45, 46. In the embodiment according to FIG. 2, the shoulders 30, 31 resting on the transverse walls 43, 44 additionally act as axial securing means. To close the container 40, an angled lid 48 hinged on a film hinge 47 is first closed. A projection 49 on the cover 48 presses the insert 11, 21 between the two transverse walls 43, 44 and thus secures it in the holder 42. In the container 40, two holders 42 are arranged at both ends, for a total of four inserts 11, 21 each to be able to accommodate different geometry of the knife 12. In addition, there is space between handle 42 for handle 1 of the scalpel. The handle 1 is inserted into a U-shaped cutout 50 in a partition 51 adjoining the film hinge 47.
This design of the container optimally protects the knife 12 during the insertion and removal of the insert 11, 21. The parallel side surfaces 15 also enable precise alignment and clamping of the insert 11, 21 when grinding or regrinding and polishing the knife 12. The knife 12 can also be made of ruby, sapphire or metal instead of diamond. Such knives are cheaper, but the diamond has the advantage of a significantly longer life and its cutting edge can be sharpened.
