The present invention relates to a method and a device for producing stacks from flexible, flat products, preferably printed products, with the longitudinal axis of the stack inclined with respect to the vertical according to the preamble of claim 1 and claim 4.
DE-OS 3 425 397 describes a device for forming lying printed product stacks, in which the printed products resulting in scale formation are pushed onto the stack by means of a conveyor.
This conveyor has two conveying members, which are provided with mutually spaced drivers which act on the rear edge of the printed products and push them along a rising conveyor track section onto the stack. The rearmost printed product of the stack is pressed onto the stack by means of a rotating pressure element, the point of action of this pressure element always being in front of the front edge of the respectively pushed-on printed product and being pushed upwards with the latter.
In the case of the device mentioned above, there is now a risk, particularly in the case of thin printed products, that they bend back or roll back in the region of their front edge during the pushing on, which can lead to kinks or other types of damage which occur when the stack is subsequently dismantled and when the stack is subsequently removed Further processing of the printed products can have an adverse effect.
Furthermore, it is possible with the device mentioned that, in spite of the stop plate present at the push-on point of the printed products and extending along the top of the stack, certain printed products are pushed too far up and therefore protrude above the stack. Such printed products later cause problems when dismantling the stack.
The present invention is based on the object of improving the method known from DE-OS 3 425 397 or the corresponding device in such a way that stacks can be formed in a flawless manner and with protection of the products, even with products having a relatively low inherent rigidity .
This object is achieved according to the invention by the features listed in the characterizing part of claim 1 and claim 4.
Since pressure is probably exerted on the stack, but not on the products pushed onto the stack, the stack is held together, while the products can be pushed on without pressure. By bending the edges of the products before pushing them onto the stack, the products undergo additional stiffening, which prevents the products under no pressure being able to bend or roll back in the area of their leading edge during the pushing on.
In the case of products resulting in scale formation, packets are preferably formed from the supplied products before being put on, in which two or more products lie one above the other. These packages are because they are out
several products with curved side edges are inherently stiffer than the individual products and also have the advantage that the risk of products being pushed up beyond the upper side of the stack is further reduced.
Preferred further developments of the device according to the invention are the subject of dependent claims 5 to 9.
The subject of the invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing. It shows purely schematically:
Fig. 1 in side view of the main part of an apparatus for forming a stack of printed products, and
2 on a larger scale than in FIG. 1, a plan view of the stack forming device in the direction of the arrow in FIG. 2.
The stack forming device according to FIGS. 1 and 2 largely corresponds to the stack forming device described in the previously mentioned DE OS 3 425 397. The stack-forming device denoted by 3 in FIG. 1 is part of a loading device 2 for a feeder 1, which is of a known type. By means of this stack forming device 3, a lying stack 4 is formed in a manner still to be explained, the longitudinal axis 4a of which is slightly inclined with respect to the horizontal. This stack 4 is supported on its front end, not shown in the figures, and is further supported on a support 6.
The stack forming device 3 has a feed device 8, which feeds the printed products 9, which are produced in scale formation S, to a stacking point 10. In the resulting scale formation S, each printed product 9 lies on the preceding printed product, so that the front edge 9a of the printed products 9 is exposed. The feed device 8 has a belt conveyor 11 to which a further conveyor 12 connects, which pushes the printed products 9 onto the stack 4 in a manner to be described. This conveyor 12 has two conveyor elements 13, which run parallel to one another and at a distance and are designed as chains, of which only one conveyor element can be seen in FIG. Each conveyor member 13 runs over stationary sprockets 14, 15 and 16, of which the sprocket 14 is driven in a manner to be described.
Driver cams 17 are arranged on each conveyor member 13. The distance between the driver cams 17 is greater than the scale distance a, i.e. the distance between successive printed products 9 in the scale formation S. In the present exemplary embodiment, the distance between the driver cams 17 is approximately 3 times this scale distance a. The driver cams 17 correspond in their training to the driver cams described in DE-OS 3 425 397 and are also tiltably attached to the conveying members 13.
In the area of their conveyor-effective dream 13a, the conveyor members 13 are guided in a guide 27 which has a section 27a which rises towards the stacking point 10 (FIG. 1). This rising guide section 27a also serves as a support for the middle part of the printed products 9. This guide 27 forms part of a carriage 28 which is guided in a manner not shown along two guide rails 31, of which in Fig.
1 only one guide rail is visible. The carriage 28 also has two side walls, which are omitted in FIG. 2 and of which only one side wall 32 is visible in FIG. 1.
An upwardly extending arm 34 is attached to the side wall 32 and supports an arm 35 (FIG. 2). In this boom 35, a shaft 36 (FIG. 1) is mounted, at one end of which a support plate 37 is attached. Eight arms 38 extending in the radial direction are fastened to this carrier disk 37, which are arranged at equal angular intervals and not all of which are shown in FIG. 1. These arms 38 carry pressure rollers 39 which are freely rotatably mounted at their projecting end. At the end of the shaft 36 opposite the carrier disk 37, a sprocket 40 is fastened on this, via which a drive chain 41 runs, which with a sprocket 42 at the other end of the arm 34 in Intervention stands. The sprocket 42 sits on a shaft 43 which carries a second sprocket 44.
This is in engagement with a drive chain 45, which is driven in a manner not shown. From this drive chain 45, the carrier disk 37 is driven in a rotating manner in the direction of the pillar D.
A stop plate 50 is also fastened to the delivery arm and runs at a distance from the stacking support 6, which corresponds approximately to the height of the stack 4.
The belt conveyor 11 as well as the subsequent conveyor 12 differ somewhat in their construction from the belt conveyor 11 or from the conveyor 12 of the embodiment shown in DE-OS 3 425 397. The belt conveyor 11 has a conveyor belt 60, which is guided via a drive wheel 61, which is driven in a manner not shown in detail, and around a stationary deflection wheel 62. This conveyor belt 60 continues over deflection wheels 63, 64, 65 and 66, all of which are mounted on the carriage 28. The deflection wheel 65 is seated on the same shaft as the chain wheels 14 via which the conveying members 13 of the conveyor 12 are guided.
The deflecting wheel 65 and with it also the chain wheels 14 are driven by the rotatingly driven conveyor belt 60.
On both sides of the guide 27 two angular profiles 67 and 68 are arranged in the movement path of the products 9, which are also attached to the carriage 28. One leg of these angle profiles 67 and 68 serves as a guide member 69 and
70 for the side edges 9c. 9d of the printed products 9 and has a guide surface 69a or 70a. The other leg of the angle profiles 67, 68 is designed as a side directional wall 71 or 72. The guide members 69 and 70 also rise towards the stack 4. However, the slope of these guide members 69, 70 is greater than the slope of the guide section 27a. As shown in FIG. 1, the initial sections 69 'are located.
70 'of the guide members 69, 70 deeper than the top of the guide section 27a. At approximately the point designated by F, the guide members 69, 70 run approximately at the same height as the upper side of the guide section 27a in order to subsequently run above the latter. In FIG. 1, b denotes the distance by which the guide members 69, 70 are arranged above the upper side of the guide section 27a.
The operation of the device shown in the figures is as follows:
The printed products 9, which are fed by the belt conveyor 11 in an approximately horizontal direction and which lie one above the other in the manner of roof tiles, are deflected upward by the rising guide section 27a and pushed in the direction of arrow B against the stacking point 10. Approximately at the point labeled F, the guide members 69, 70 begin to act on the lateral edges 9c and 9d of the printed products 9, which means that these lateral edges are bent upwards relative to the middle part of the printed products 9. The pitch angle of the guide section 27a is chosen to be large. that the individual printed products 9 slide back again until they hit their trailing edges 9b either on the deflection wheel 63 serving as a stop for the conveyor belt 60 or on a driver element 17 of the conveyor 12.
Since the distance between the driver elements 17 is approximately three times as large as the distance a between successive printed products 9 in the scale formation S, a package 73 or 73 'is formed from three printed products 9 along the rising guide section 27a, which is then formed by a driver element 17 is detected at the trailing edges 9b of the printed products 9 and is pushed onto the stack 4 in the direction of the arrow C. In the package designated by 73, the three printed products 9 forming this have slipped back so far that their rear edge 9b abuts the deflection wheel 63. This package 73 will soon be gripped by the driver cam 17, designated 17 ', and pushed upwards along the guide 27.
During this forward movement of the package 73, the side edges 9c and 9d of the printed products 9 of this package 73 are bent up by the guide members 69, 70, while the middle part of the printed products 9 of this package 73 rests on the rising guide section 27a. The printed products 9 of each package 73, 73 'are thus approximately Ubzw. V-shaped, which creates a stiffening effect.
The fact that the printed products 9 are stiffened by bending up their side edges 9c, 9d and, moreover, are not pushed onto the stack 4 individually, but rather in packages, can effectively prevent the printed products 9 from rolling back or bending when pushed on. Thus, even thin products with a relatively low intrinsic stiffness can be pushed onto the stack 4 without difficulty and without damage.
By forming packages 73, 73 'as a result of slipping back of the printed products 9 in the region of the rising
Guide section 27a is achieved in that a gap 74 is formed between successive packets 73, 73 ', in which the driver elements 17 engage. It can thus be avoided that the printed products 9 come to rest on the driver organs 17 projecting above the top of the guide 27. The entrainment members 17 can thus be made sufficiently high to ensure that the printed product packages 73, 73 'are carried along safely.
During the pushing on of the printed product packages 73, 73 ', a pressure roller 39 acts on the rearmost printed product 9' of the stack 4, which, together with the pushed-on package 73 ', moves upward in its pushing-on direction C, like that in the already mentioned DE -OS 3 425 397 is explained in more detail. With stack 4 growing, i.e. with each newly deferred printed product package 73, the stacking point 10 moves backwards. The carriage 28 must now follow this movement of the stacking point 10, i.e. it moves in the direction of arrow E in FIG. 1 to the right, as is also described in the aforementioned DE-OS 3 425 397.
It may be expedient to form the conveyor belt 60 from a plurality of individual belts which are arranged next to one another at a mutual spacing.
