PATENT CLAIM E
1. Device for simulating an outside view for a shooting coach, with a projection device that projects the image of a background and at least one target onto a cylindrical or hemispherical projection wall, in the center of which there is an observer, characterized in that the projection device has at least one TV - Large image projector (20, 20 ', 20 "), the projected image (B1 to Ball) having targets cut into the background.
2. Device according to claim 1, characterized by a seamless stringing together of several large-screen TV projections (BI to BIII) on the projection wall (22).
3 Device according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that each TV large image projector (20, 20 ', 20 ") is assigned a separate memory area (I to III) of a panorama image memory (10).
4. The device according to claim 3, characterized by image synthesis devices (16, 16 ', 16 "), each connected to the memory areas (I to III) of the panorama image memory (10) and to at least one target memory (12) and under Control by a process computer (14) digitally link the background with the target.
5. The device according to claim 4, characterized in that between each image synthesis device (16, 16 ', 16 ") and each large-screen TV projector (20, 20', 20"), a digital / video converter (18, 18 ', 18th ") is switched.
The present invention relates to a device according to the preamble of claim 1. To simulate a combat situation, it is known, for example, from US Pat. No. 2,662,305 to project the image of a landscape and a target onto a cylindrical projection screen. Mechanical means are already specified there, for example to simulate the concealment of the target by the landscape. Apart from the fact that the known device is mechanically very complex and therefore only very costly to implement, the display that can be achieved can only be compared to an actual combat situation to a limited extent, since targets and landscape are only visually superimposed. The battle tactics for crews on firearms, especially tank crews, require that the gunner or
Tank commanders can clarify the combat situation by direct eye observation, whereby the simulation of the combat situation should also be as realistic as possible with a shooting coach.
It is therefore the object of the present invention, starting from the known device, to implement the visual simulation in a shooting trainer as realistically and inexpensively as possible. This object is achieved according to the invention characterized in claim 1. Further advantageous embodiments of the invention can be found in the subclaims.
In the case of the external visual simulation according to the invention, use is made of a visual simulation which forms the subject of the older German patent application P 3 133 866.6. There both the background to be displayed and the targets moving in the background are stored digitally. In addition, both the targets and individual objects in the background, such as bushes, houses, etc. are provided with distance information, so that if the target and individual object are superimposed in the coordinates, a decision can be made in the background as to whether the target is in front of or behind the individual object is to be presented. In addition, since target silhouettes can be easily generated by computers in different views and target courses, realistic visual simulation is easily possible with these means.
In contrast to this older proposal, in which the view is simulated by a directional optics for a gunner, in which the TV monitor is arranged in the field of view of the directional optics, the unobstructed outside view for a gunner or tank commander is to be simulated here. For this purpose, not only a section of the background but the entire background is thrown onto a curved projection screen via large-screen TV projectors, with the gunner or tank commander in the center of this projection.
The device according to the invention for the simulation of the external view is explained in more detail below with reference to the single figure of the accompanying drawing.
According to the single figure, a digital panorama image memory 10 is arranged, e.g. stores a panorama of 1500 in azimuth and 20 in elevation. This image memory 10 is divided into three individual image memories I to III, which store partial names with an azimuth of 50 and an elevation of 20. A destination memory 12 contains one or more destinations stored digitally. The partial panoramas and the target (s) are linked under the control of a process computer 14, which coordinates the target to the panorama, in image synthesis devices 16, 16 'and 16 "and after a subsequent digital / video conversion in converters 18, 18' and 18 "three TV large-screen projectors 20, 20 'and 20" fed.
The projectors 20, 20 'and 20 "can be pivoted through an angle with respect to an axis A perpendicular to the plane of the drawing such that the images BI, BII and BIII projected by them line up seamlessly on the cylindrical projection wall 22 Adjustment allows interface effects between the individual images BI to BIII to be reduced to a minimum The observer, ie the gunner or tank commander, is also in this axis A with his eye.
It is obvious that more or fewer projectors can be used instead of the three large-screen TV projectors. In addition, it would also be possible to assemble the panorama image shown on the projection wall 22 not only in the azimuth direction by means of several individual images but also in elevation by means of several individual images.
