Abstract

The display cell includes a layer of electrooptic material and two sets of electrodes for individually subjecting to an electric field and thus rendering visible a plurality of segments (a to i) of the layer, defining at least one pattern. This pattern includes, on the one hand, a parallelogram consisting of two large sides of two segments each (b and c, e and f respectively) and of two small sides of one segment each (a and d) and, on the other hand, inside the parallelogram, a cross consisting of three segments (g to i), two (h and i) of which form arms parallel to the large sides and the third (g) of which forms the arms parallel to the small sides. The segment (g) of the cross parallel to the small sides consists of three segments, two outer ones (g1 and g3) of which form the two horizontal arms of the cross and the third (g2) central element of which lies in the extension of the two arms parallel to the large sides and has the same length as the width of the arms. This cell enables the letters T and I to be displayed more aesthetically than known cells. <IMAGE>
