Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a chipping tool for profile chipping of round timber in accordance with the preamble of claim 1.
In a known chipper tool of this type (DE-AS 1 955 293), the tool head has a spiral-shaped gradation on the outer surface of its conical jacket part. Knives are arranged one behind the other in this step formation. The knives have a parallel cutting edge that extends at right angles to the axis of the rotatable tool head and thus runs parallel to the end face and also parallel to the grain of the log to be processed. In addition, the knives have a bevel cutting edge that runs obliquely to the axis of rotation and transverse to the grain of the wood and thus cuts the chips to be processed by the wood to length. During the cutting process, the log is pushed lengthways between two opposing rotating cutting tools. There is criticism that the wood trunk can get very hot when the log is being fed, since the wood in the step-shaped chip processing area is in full contact with the tapered jacket part of the tool head, causing considerable frictional heat. To avoid overheating, it would therefore be necessary to limit the feed rate. There is also the risk that jamming will occur in the area of the end faces of the truncated cone-shaped tool heads that are in contact with flat surfaces of the wood, in particular due to the strong heating. Another disadvantage is that the production of the chipping tool is complex and expensive, in particular because of the step-shaped spiral formation on the cone jacket.
Accordingly, the object of the invention is to improve a chipping tool of the type described in the introduction in such a way that cost savings in manufacture are possible and lower tool heating and higher cutting performance are achieved with a jamming-free cutting feed.
According to the invention, this object is achieved by the characterizing features of claim 1.
Preferred refinements and developments of the invention are characterized by the features of the dependent claims.
With the invention, the advantage is achieved that during the cutting of the wood, the heating on the cutting tool is reduced to a minimum, since in the cutting step region of the wood the latter no longer lies over the entire surface of the cone shell part, but rather only a linear wood system takes place on the straight surface line of the outer surface of the cone shell part . This means that due to the invention, large parts of the wood gradations in the area of the straight jacket line do not come into contact with the cone jacket part, but are at a distance from it, so that no frictional heat can arise here either. The feed limitation of the log to be machined on the chipper tool is therefore only achieved by a line system, whereby there is a base-like chip length limitation parallel to the feed direction and grain of the wood. Due to the lower heating of the chipping tool achieved by the invention, there is thus the possibility of increasing the feed rate of the log, so that an advantageous increase in performance is also achieved. The low level of heating and the simple design of the conical jacket further enable the cut chips to be quickly removed, for example by appropriate derivatives, to the discharge side of the tool, thereby avoiding a jam and the consequent impairment of the cutting process. A further advantage is that the step clearances that occur when machining the wood practically eliminates the risk of jamming2

In addition, a higher stability of the tool is achieved, which results in a not inconsiderable cost saving when working with the tool. In addition, there is the advantage of a significantly simpler manufacture of the chipping tool, since the conical jacket part no longer has to be provided with a complicated spiral gradation, but according to the invention has a steplessly smooth outer surface with a continuous straight jacket line.
Although it is already known (SW-PS 45 401) to provide a conical jacket part with a smooth outer surface, it is a completely different type of cutting tool, the knives of which are not arranged spirally one behind the other. The chipper tool is designed so that, as in the prior art described above, the entire surface of the wood is placed on the cone shell part, so that high heating occurs here too. In addition, the chip length cutting edge of the knife runs at right angles to the parallel cutting edge, the chip length cutting edge also running parallel to the outer surface of the conical jacket part, so that this non-generic cutting tool does not give any indication or suggestion for machining that is as friction and heat-free as possible by creating large step clearances is given according to the invention.
Es stellen dar: Further advantages and details of the invention can be found in the following description and the drawing, which shows a preferred embodiment as an example in a schematic representation. They represent:

Fig. 2 eine Teilschnittansicht eines Zerspanerwerkzeugs gemäss Fig. 1 und Fig. 2 is a partial sectional view of a chipping tool according to Fig. 1 and
Fig. 3 eine Stirnseitenansicht eines Zerspanerwerkzeugs nach Fig. 1. 3 shows an end view of a chipping tool according to FIG. 1.
The profile chipper 1 shown in FIG. 1 has two chipper tools 2, 2 'which are rotatably mounted about an axis 3 and are driven in the direction of the arrow 4. A round wood 5 is pushed between the two chipping tools 2, 2 'in the direction of the arrow 6. When the log 5 is fed, short, parallel fibers are processed on both sides. After leaving the chipping tools 2, 2 ', the round timber 5 has a flat surface 7, 7 on both sides.
As can be seen in particular from FIG. 2, the chipper tool 2 has a frustoconical tool head 8, which is hollowed out in a key-like manner by a recess 9. The tool head 8 has a curved conical jacket part 10, the outer surface 11 of which is smooth and stepless and thus has a straight jacket line 14 extending from the end face 12 of the tool head 8 facing the flat surface 7 of the round timber 5 to the rear outer edge 13.
Knives 15 in the form of an Archimedean spiral, but with a linear spatial gradient in the axial direction of the tool, are arranged one behind the other on the conical jacket part 10 of the tool head 8. The knives 15 are attached to the cone jacket part 10 in the region of an opening 16 adjustable. The opening 16 is wider than the knife 15, the latter being mounted such that there is a free space 17, 17 'on both sides of the knife 15. The openings 16 in the cone shell part 10 direct the processed wood chips to the rear recess 9. The opening 18 of the openings 16 lies in the plane of the outer surface 11 of the cone shell part 10. The knives 15 protrude with a parallel cutting edge 19 and an oblique cutting edge 20 over the outer surface 11 of the cone shell part 10 beyond.
The parallel cutting edge 19 runs perpendicular to the axis 3 of the chipping tool 2, but parallel to its end face 12 and also parallel to the grain direction of the round wood 5. The parallel cutting edge 19 of the knives 15 thus cuts in the longitudinal direction of the chips 21 to be separated. The oblique cutting edge 20, however, runs at an angle obliquely to the axis 3 of the tool head 8. It can be clearly seen that the angle between the bevel cutting edge 20 and the axis 3 is approximately 53 "smaller by approximately 10 than the approximately 63 ° angle between the axis 3 and the straight line 14 of the Steplessly smooth outer surface 11 of the conical jacket part 10.
2 that the bevel cutting edge 20 of the knives 15 is arranged at a somewhat greater distance in front of the straight jacket line 14 of the conical jacket part 10, while the end part 22 of the parallel cutting edge 19 of the knives 15 which is distant from the bevel cutting edge 20 is close to it the straight surface line 14 is arranged and thus lies essentially in the plane of the smooth, continuous outer surface 11. The end parts 22 of the knives 15 thus lie consistently on the helically rising Archimedean spiral, which runs in such a way that the smooth outer surface 10 is an enveloping outer surface of this Archimedean spiral.
Furthermore, it can be seen that the knives 15 on the outer smooth conical jacket part 10 are designed and arranged such that, viewed in the direction of the straight jacket line 14, in the area between the end part 22 of a knife 15 closer to the outer edge 13 and the oblique cutting edge 20 of the end face 12 of the tool head 8 closer knife 15 an acute-angled wooden free space 23 is formed, which is also delimited by a step bevel 24 of the round timber 5. The step bevel 24 is thus at a distance from the outer surface 11 of the conical jacket part 10, so that there is no contact here and therefore no frictional heat can arise.
When the log 5 is fed in the direction of the arrow 6, the log 5 only abuts with a linear material edge 25 against the steplessly smooth outer surface 11 of the conical jacket part 10, so that there is only very little material contact, whereby any heating of the chipping tool 2 is reduced to a minimum .
The step-like, inclined chip removal formed by the individual knives 15 ends in a kerf 26 of a front saw ring 27 such that the parallel cutting edge of the knife 15, which is closest to the end face 12, no longer comes fully into use. At this point, the sawing ring 27 takes over the production of the flat surface 7 of the round timber 5. The sawing ring 27 is dimensioned such that it produces a pre-cut.
The saw ring 27 is assigned an interchangeable guide disk 28 on the end face 12 of the tool head 8, which guides the round timber 5 on the flat surface 7 with a guide surface 29. 3 that the guide disk 28 has three brush cutters 30. The respective cutting edge 31 of the brush cutter 30 lies in the plane of the guide surface 29. A flat chip pocket-like depression 32 is formed in front of the cutting edge 31 of the brush cutter 30. A jam-free, precise guidance of the round timber 5 between the chipping tools 2, 2 'is thereby achieved. The minimal depressions 32 on the guide disk 28 allow the resilient wood to be pressed into the shallow depressions 32, as a result of which it goes directly into the cutting area of the brush cutters 30, so that a perfect free cut occurs on the flat surface 7. Due to the spring action of the wood, the wood is practically transverse to the longitudinal direction in the recess
