The invention relates to an illuminated keypad according to the preamble of patent claim 1.
A light keypad of this type is known from CH-PS 623 426. The known illuminated keypad has several switches, the housing of which is seated in openings in a rail which is mounted at a distance from the inside of a door of a ticket vending machine. The pushbutton sitting on the switch housing has a key cap that protrudes through a window in the door and has an integrally formed shaft on its back that projects into the switch housing and closes the switch when the key is pressed. A light bulb is installed on the switch housing, which is surrounded by the hollow calotte shaft and illuminates the translucent front wall of the button calotte. The light bulb is automatically switched on when the switch is actuated.
The connections of the switch led out through the rear of the switch housing are plugged onto a printed circuit board or soldered to it.
A disadvantage of the known keypad is that its overall height, given by the sum of the length of the switch housing, the length of the spherical shaft projecting beyond the housing and the thickness of the spherical cap, is large. The assembly of the keypad is particularly complex because the arrangement of the recesses required for the switch housing in the rail and for the calottes in the door must match exactly. When the keypad is installed outdoors, e.g. a keypad of a ticket vending machine, there is also the risk that rainwater will enter the switch housing. Finally, if the spherical cap is damaged by force, the other parts of the switch, in particular the spherical cap protruding into the switch housing, can also be damaged, the replacement of the switches being complicated and time-consuming.
The invention has for its object to provide a simple and robust illuminated keypad with a low profile.
The inventive solution to this problem is the subject of claim 1. Preferred embodiments are described in claims 1 to 10.
In the following an embodiment of the invention will be described with reference to the drawing. Show it:
1 is a plan view of part of an illuminated keypad with the panel partially broken away,
2 shows a section through one of the switches of the keypad along the line II-II in FIG. 1,
Fig. 3 is a bottom view of the push button of the switch of Fig. 2 and
Fig. 4 is a broken down representation of part of a sandwich with the switch contacts of three switches.
The illuminated keypad partially shown in FIG. 1 has a panel 1 which, for example, forms the door front of a ticket machine and has rows of square cutouts arranged one above the other. The head parts 2 of pushbuttons 3 for actuating switches protrude into these, by means of which the destination, the class, one-way or return trip and the tariff category can be selected in a ticket machine. The switch contacts of a plurality of switches in a row are arranged in a plate-shaped sandwich structure 4. This consists of a base plate 5, a spacer film 6 and a cover film 7, which are tightly connected to one another and are shown at a distance from one another in FIG. 4 for better illustration.
On the side of the base plate 5 facing the cover film 7, several concentric, circular, printed contacts and two printed connecting conductor tracks are attached for each switch. The contact rings of each switch are alternately connected to one and the other connecting conductor track of the switch. 4 from the inside to the outside with 10, lt, 12, 13 designated contact rings of the middle switch, the contact rings 10 and 12 are connected to a conductor 14, the contact rings 11 and 13 to a conductor 15 of the switch, the conductor 14 through recesses in the contact rings II and 13 and the conductor track 15 through a recess in the contact ring 12.
On the inside of the cover film 7, an annular contact film 17 is applied for each switch, which extends over the contact rings 10, 11, 12, 13 of the switch printed on the base plate 5. The spacer film 6 has two semi-ring-shaped recesses 18, 19 between the contact rings 10, 11, 12, 13 printed on the base plate 5 and the contact film rings 17 carried by the cover film 7. To actuate the switch, the contact foil ring 17 is pressed through the cutouts 18, 19 onto the contact rings 10, 11, 12, 13, so that these and thus the conductor tracks 14 and 15 are connected to one another. For the switch actuation, it is already sufficient if two adjacent contact rings, e.g. the contact rings 10 and 11, are connected to one another at any circumferential location by the contact foil ring 17.
When a switch is actuated, a light bulb 21 is automatically switched on or off, the holder 22 of which sits in a hole 73 in the sandwich structure 4. The contact rings 10, 11, 12, 13, the semi-ring-shaped recesses 18, 19 and the contact foil ring 17 extend concentrically around the hole 23 at a distance. The light bulb 21 projects into a cavity 25 of the push button 3. The head part 2 of the push button 3 consists of a translucent disc 27, the thickness of which corresponds approximately to the thickness of the panel 1 and the recess of the panel is adapted. A collar 28 protruding laterally beyond the disk 27 is molded onto the head part 2 and is pressed against the inner surface of the panel 1 by springs 29. In the head part 2 there is a rectangular hollow body 31 with two lateral projections 32 which engage in the collar 28 and a dome-shaped foot part 33.
A translucent plate 34 is clamped between the upper edge of the body 1 and the disc 27, which has a designation characterizing the switch, e.g. a letter, carries and can be colored. The inner surface of the hollow body 31 and the foot part 33 delimiting the cavity 25 is coated with a light-reflecting layer 35, so that as much as possible all the light of the light bulb 21 projecting into the cavity 25 penetrates outwards through the plate 34 and the pane 27. The foot part 33 has a hole 36 into which the socket 22 of the light bulb 21 protrudes. Radial ribs 37 are arranged around the hole 36 and transmit the compressive force exerted on the head part 2 to the cover film 7. The ribs 37 are arranged in such a way that they act only on the regions of the cover film 7 adjoining the semi-annular recesses 18, 19.
Since the pressure surfaces of the ribs 37 acting on the cover film 7 make up only a fraction of the pressure surface of the head part 2 acted upon by the finger of a hand, a relatively large pressure can be exerted with a low pressure force. In order to avoid that excessive pressure is exerted, a stop 38 is provided against which the collar 28 abuts when the ribs 37 press the contact foil ring 17 sufficiently against the contact rings 10, 11, 12, 13.
The light bulb 21 is fed with the feed current by contact springs 39 pressed onto its base part and by a conductor track 40 connected to the socket 22 and printed on the base plate 5. It protrudes up to the head part 2 into the cavity 25, its distance from the plate 3-4 being only a tolerance greater than the path by which the pushbuttons 3 are pressed in for actuating the switch.
Instead of the circular contacts 10, II, 12, 13 other, e.g. elliptical or rectangular contact tracks spaced apart from one another around the socket 22 of the light bulb 21. Instead of several contacts, only one switch contact, e.g. a contact ring, can be attached to the base plate, which can be connected to a connection line attached to the base plate and the switch contact attached to the cover film to a connection line of the switch attached to the cover film.
Finally, several switch contacts can be attached to the cover film for each switch.
