Fig. 2 einen Schnitt entlang der Schnittlinie II-II in Fig. 1.

The present invention relates to a device for the continuous vertical continuous casting of metal profiles, in which the melt flows through a slot-shaped nozzle in the bottom of the melt container into an annular mold, from which the hardening profile is continuously withdrawn.
With devices of the aforementioned type, it is possible to produce metal profiles, for example round or polygonal rods, efficiently. Here, the liquid metal is poured into a mold with water cooling, from which the solidifying beach is then pulled off by driving rollers or the like. However, with such devices there is a considerable problem in the continuous supply of lubricant between the profile to be cast and the mold shell to prevent adhesion. This problem has not been mastered so far, particularly in the case of casting pot molds, so that surface damage can often be detected on the cast strand after a casting length of 5 to 6 meters.
It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a device of the aforementioned type which allows an adequate supply of lubricant between the profile to be cast and the outer surface of the mold.
This is now achieved according to the invention in that an intermediate ring extends in the connection area between the mold and the bottom of the melt container, lubricating grooves extending in axial planes of the mold being provided on the separating surface between this ring and the mold, which on the one hand enter the mold cavity of the mold and on the other hand lead into an outer, lubricant-carrying annular space.
These measures now make it possible to maintain a constant and even film of lubricant between the inner mold shell and the profile to be cast.
This device according to the invention can also be designed such that the intermediate ring in the area of the lubrication grooves has an abutment surface that opens conically outwards from its mouth, on which an abutment surface of the mold that is opposite from the mouth rests, such that the lubrication grooves lie outside the meniscus arch flow out of the melt flowing into the mold.
It is expedient here if the mouth of the mold adjoins the intermediate ring in a stepped manner and if both the mouth of the intermediate ring and the mouth of the mold are outside the meniscus arch of the melt flowing into the mold.
By laying the mouths of the lubrication grooves and the mouths of the intermediate ring and the mold outside the meniscus arch of the melt flowing into the mold, it is also possible to achieve an adequate supply of lubricant through suitably large groove cross sections, as well as clogging or avoiding material tags . The latter is also improved by the step-like resetting of the mold mouth.
Further refinements of the device according to the invention also consist in the fact that the lubrication grooves are formed in the conical abutment surface of the intermediate ring and that the annular space guiding the lubricant can be connected to an external lubricant source via flow channels.
An example embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing. Show it:
Figure 1 in cross section and in a schematic representation a partial view of the inventive device for continuous vertical continuous casting of metal profiles. and
2 shows a section along the section line II-II in FIG. 1st
The device illustrated in the drawing for the continuous vertical continuous casting here of a round profile 1 made of a metal comprises in a known manner a melt container 2 which is only partially shown here, the melt 3 flowing into an annular mold 6 via a slot-shaped nozzle 4 in the base 5 of the melt container 2 can. The inner surface 7 of the mold 6 has to correspond to the cross section of the profile 1 to be produced and is therefore circular (not shown) here. Accordingly, the slit-shaped nozzle 4 can form at least one circular section in the bottom 5 of the melt container 2 (likewise not shown).
In the usual way, the mold 6 is supported on the machine frame 9 via a carrier sleeve 8. Here, the machine frame 9 comprises an annular channel 11 which opens out on the outer jacket 10 of the mold 6 and is in flow connection with a cooling water circuit via line means (not shown).
So far, the above-described device for the continuous vertical continuous casting of metal profiles is general state of the art and therefore requires no further explanation. Their mode of operation is also known.
namely that the melt 3 flowing into the mold 6
forms a liquid metal cone 20 in the mold ring shape. which metal cone comes into contact with the cooled mold shell 6, 10 and initially hardens in the edge areas. The further curing profile 1 is then continuously pulled down from the mold 6 by means not shown in detail.
As mentioned in the introduction, the problem with such devices is that there is an adequate supply of lubricant between the profile 1 to be cast and the inner shell surface 7.
For an adequate supply of lubricant, an intermediate ring 30 is now clamped between the mold 6 and the bottom 5 of the melt container 2, which here has a slightly smaller inner diameter than the inner diameter of the mold 6 and which in its mouth area has a conically opening outwards from its mouth Butt surface 14 forms. On this butting surface 14 there is an opposing butting surface 15 of the mold 6 from the mouth. The arrangement is such that both the mouth of the intermediate ring 30 and the mouth of the mold 6, which has a slightly larger diameter, lie outside the meniscus arch 16 of the melt 3 flowing into the mold 6.
Of course, arrangements are also possible in which the inner diameters of intermediate ring 30 and mold 6 correspond; In the present case, however, there is an advantage in that the outflow opening of lubrication slots is enlarged, as will be explained in more detail below.
As illustrated, here extend in the conical abutment surface 14 of the intermediate ring 30 a plurality of circumferentially distributed lubrication grooves 31 which run in axial planes of the mold and which are in flow communication with a pressure lubricant circuit (not shown) via a ring line 19 and flow channels 29 and 39 . 1 clearly shows that these lubrication grooves 31 open outside the meniscus arch 16 of the melt 3 flowing into the mold 6.
Since the abutting surface 15 of the mold 6 does not completely cover the inner edge region of the abutting surface 14 of the cover ring 30, an open channel piece forming an enlarged mouth results for each groove 31 in this surface part.
From the foregoing, it is readily apparent that the lubricant flows continuously into the metal-free space of the meniscus arch 16 through these measures and can thus uniformly wet the inner surface 7 of the mold 6 without fear of lubricant tearing or clogging of the grooves 31.
