PATENTANSPRUCH

PATENT CLAIM
Arrangement of at least one ignition electrode in a heating oil burner in which hot gases are returned from the combustion zone through a recirculation space for mixing with the fuel / air mixture, characterized in that the ignition electrode or ignition electrodes (8) are arranged in the recirculation space (9) of the burner .
The invention relates to the arrangement of at least one ignition electrode in a heating oil burner in which hot gases are returned from the combustion zone through a recirculation space for mixing with the fuel / air mixture.
In the case of such heating oil burners, the ignition electrodes were previously arranged directly in front of the fuel nozzle. Tests have shown that the starting properties of such heating oil burners can be influenced by the arrangement of the ignition electrodes. It is therefore the object of the invention to find a new arrangement of the ignition electrodes by means of which the starting properties of the heating oil burners are improved.
The object of the invention is achieved in that the ignition electrode or ignition electrodes are arranged in the recirculation space of the burner.
This arrangement of the ignition electrodes according to the invention achieves the following:
1. Cold start of the fuel oil burner without throttling the combustion air, a motor-operated start air flap is no longer required.
2. The burner is no longer started with excess fuel, resulting in low CO emissions and soot formation at the start.
3. Reduction of the tendency to pulsate when starting hot.
An embodiment of the invention is shown in the drawing, which shows a heating oil burner in section, and will be described in more detail below.
The heating oil burner shown in the drawing has a tubular housing 1 and a flame tube 2, which is fastened axially aligned at one end of the housing 1. Within the flame tube 2 there is a coaxially arranged mixing tube 3, which is mounted with one of its ends on an air diaphragm 4, which is arranged on the flame tube-side end of the housing 1. A fuel atomizer nozzle 5 is located in the housing 1 on the side of the air screen 4 facing away from the mixing tube 3, to which it is fastened by means of a holder 6. The fuel atomizer nozzle 5 is arranged such that its axis coincides with the housing axis and its mouth lies in the plane of an opening 7 in the diaphragm 4.
Two ignition electrodes 8, which run essentially parallel to the flame tube and housing axis, are arranged in a recirculation space 9 symmetrically with respect to an axis perpendicular to the flame tube axis. The recirculation space 9 encompasses the annular region between the flame tube 2 and the mixing tube 3 and extends as far as the combustion zone 10 in the flame tube 2. Both ends of the ignition electrodes 8 are bent toward the mixing tube 3. The cranked ends of the ignition electrodes 8 are also visible in the view A placed in the flame tube 2. Each ignition electrode 8 is fastened with its shaft 10 in an opening in the air panel 4.
An ionization measuring probe 11 for flame monitoring, which is guided parallel to the flame tube and housing axis, is likewise fastened with its shaft 12 in a further opening in the air screen 4. The air flow in the housing 1 and the direction of flow of the burner air mixture in the flame tube and the path of the recirculated hot gases is shown by the arrows in the drawing.
