chéé and triggered of the device, the main contact being closed
in a sealed enclosure at low pressure.
2. Device according to claim 1, characterized in that the elé
the movable auxiliary contact consists of a knife
sectioning mounted visibly to indicate the position of the
interrupt device.
3. Device according to claim 2, characterized in that said
linkage and actuation mechanism includes a com shaft
mande on which are rigidly fixed a cam intended to cooperate
with the movable element of the main contact and said dry knife
operation of the auxiliary contact, the rotation of the control shaft being actuated by an insulating operating rod
sant on an actuating lever secured to the shaft.
The present invention relates to an electrical current interrupting device comprising a main contact and an auxiliary contact, each comprising at least one movable contact element, the movable elements of the two contacts being connected by a connection and actuation mechanism.
It is frequent to meet, in the installations of the electric railways, of energy supply zones of the catenary called switchable zones receiving energy under different electric voltages and different kinds of current, single-phase or direct.
These zones must be able, via a suitable device, to be switched to the appropriate current and voltage. This switching must be carried out by a device meeting two main requirements:
- transport the maximum current through a contact which does not deteriorate over time,
- accept a false operation without destroying the main contact element.
The known devices do not meet the two requirements either because the main contact is well protected from a false operation which can damage it, but on the other hand subjected to oxidation, sulfurization or other corrosion, or because it is protected from such alteration, but does not include any body capable of protecting it from a possible false maneuver.
The device according to the invention overcomes this drawback and it is characterized, for this purpose, in that the auxiliary contact comprises a contact closure range located between two contact opening ranges, the closure range s' extending on either side of the switching position of the main contact, the movable element of the auxiliary contact being within an opening range in the switched on and off positions of the device, the main contact being enclosed in a sealed enclosure at low pressure.
Damage by long-term alteration is thus avoided because the main contact is protected from external agents of corrosion by the sealed enclosure, and possible destruction of the elements of the main contact is avoided by the controlled switching sequence between the contact main and auxiliary contact.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the device which is the subject of the invention.
Fig. I schematically illustrates the device seen in perspective.
Fig. 2 is a graphic representation of the operation of the device illustrating the open 0 and closed 1 positions of the main contact and of the auxiliary contact as a function respectively of the stroke D or D ′ of the mobile elements of these contacts.
The interruption device illustrated in fig. 1 comprises a main contact 1 and an auxiliary contact 2. The main contact 1 at high nominal current is placed in a sealed enclosure 3 in a medium of low pressure air of the order of 1.33 10-4 Pa. comprises a fixed contact element 4 and a movable contact element 5 capable of being moved axially by means of a bellows 6. The auxiliary contact 2 also includes a fixed element constituted by a horn 7 and a movable contact element formed by a cutting knife 8.
The latter is integral with a control shaft 9 on which are rigidly fixed a cam 10 intended to act on the movable contact element 6 and an actuating lever 1 1 connected to an insulating rod 12 for operating. The main contact and the auxiliary contact are connected in parallel by two electrical lines 13 and 14. The line 13 comprises two flexible portions 15 and 16 allowing the displacement of the movable contacts 5 and 8. The horn 7 of the auxiliary contact is double and has a closure pad 17 located between two contact opening pads 18 and 19. A plate 20 of insulating material is mounted between line 14 and pad 19 ensuring complete isolation of the knife 8 when the device is engaged.
With reference to fig. 2, during an operation for closing the device, the operating rod 12 acts on the actuating lever 11 which makes the shaft 9 pivot around its axis, which will move the knife from the initial position a to the position b. The cam 10 simultaneously performs a rotation in dead travel. In b, the knife 8 enters the closing range 17 of the horn 7 and establishes the galvanic contact between the elements 8 and 7. The current passes at this time from line 13 to line 14 by the bypass line constituted by the flexible portion 16, the knife 8 and the horn 7. At this time, the cam 10 begins to move the movable contact element 5 and definitively establishes the main contact 1 while the knife 8 continues to run in the horn 7.
The end of the stroke of the knife 8 will release it from the closing range 17 and only the main contact will be able to conduct the current. No current will flow through the auxiliary contact 2 when the device is in the engaged position d, since the knife is in the opening range 19 as illustrated in FIG. 2.
The opening function of the device is performed in a reverse sequence of operations.
Keeping the main contact 1 in vacuum in the enclosure 3 at low pressure prevents rapid deterioration of the contact surfaces due to oxidation, sulfurization or other corrosion and guarantees excellent contact quality as long as the vacuum is maintained. in enclosure 3. The auxiliary contact 2 with knife 8 and horn 7 establishes a controlled sequence of closing and opening of the device and allows the advantages, on the one hand, that the main contact is switched in the absence of interruption of active loads and, on the other hand, that the latter has to withstand possible cuts on faults during a false switching operation. The advantage of the cutting knife is also evident in the fact that it makes it possible to ensure, from a distance, the position of the contact of the device.
As the auxiliary contact is visible at all times, the detection of wear of the contact parts and their replacement are easy.
It is also possible to equip the auxiliary contact with a load limiting resistor in the event of a fault switching.
It is understood that the embodiment described above has no limiting character and that it can receive any desirable modifications without departing from the scope of the invention.
