Abstract

With a view to allowing oscillatory excitation in bending according to a particularly advantageous mode of application of the electric excitation field, the tuning-fork shaped quartz-crystal vibrator comprises, on at least one face of each of its arms, first and second electrodes (12, 13), the first, median ones passing centrally through the arm and the second, lateral ones passing along the edge of the arm. The first electrodes on one arm are connected to the second electrodes on the other arm, and vice versa. The vibrator tuning-fork is made of a thin plate (11) and its cut plane results from rotating the plane of an X cut vibrator by an angle ( alpha ) not greater than 10 DEG about the X axis, then by an angle ( gamma ) lying between 70 DEG and 90 DEG , about the Y axis. This vibrator is particularly suitable as a time standard in a small-sized electronic wristwatch required to have a good temperature characteristic. <IMAGE>
