REVENDICATIONS
la fig. 1 montre une vue frontale de la caisse ouverte où apparaît le mécanisme de freinage en position de repos et les coins serrant la corde;
la fig. 2 est une vue similaire à la précédente, mais avec les coins déplacés vers une position de libération, suite à l'action des leviers correspondants;

CLAIMS
1; Braking device for descent with a rope, characterized in that it is constituted by a support with slide for the rope which passes longitudinally; in this support are two jaws having toothed and opposite sectors between which the rope slides; these jaws are biased by springs towards a position for blocking the rope and are maneuvered using levers as a handle, which make it possible to locate them in an unlocked position; the device is completed by pliers which tighten the rope while allowing it to slide with friction; these clamps are provided with hooking elements for tie rods attached to a hitch.
2. Braking device for descent with a rope according to claim 1, characterized in that the jaws have a configuration as a wedge and slide between converging limits.
3. Braking device for descent with a rope according to claim 1, characterized in that the jaws slide in front of cams whose position can be adjusted, which push them towards a locking position when they exceed a determined path during of their rope release movement.
4. Braking device for descent with a rope according to claim 1, characterized in that the support is provided with a tubular handle traversed by the rope, as well as a ring allowing the passage of the tie rods coming from the coupling .
5. Braking device for descent with a rope according to claim 1, characterized in that the control levers of the jaws are connected to allow them to operate together.
The present invention relates to a braking device for descent with a rope, suitable for rescue operations.
The use of ropes to make descents using braking elements can be effective as long as such elements are easy to handle and offer great safety.
In accordance with these wishes, the braking device which is the subject of the present invention and which has a relatively simple but effective configuration has been designed.
The device according to the invention is defined by claim 1.
In order to facilitate understanding of what is said in the present description, there are added drawings which, solely by way of example, explain by means of a practical case the realization of the object of the invention in question.
In these drawings:
fig. 1 shows a front view of the open body where the braking mechanism appears in the rest position and the corners tightening the rope;
fig. 2 is a view similar to the previous one, but with the corners moved to a release position, following the action of the corresponding levers;
fig. 3 is also similar to the previous ones, but in this case the levers have been brought together as far as possible and the corners have passed the unlocking position in order to be pushed by the cams to a new locking position; finally,
fig. 4 shows the rear face of the body with the control levers.
The braking device for lowering with a rope, which has been described, shows in the drawings in question a box 1 inside which appear two twin corners 2, with toothed surfaces 3 opposite, forming jaws between which a rope slides 4 which crosses the body I longitudinally.
The corners are guided between inclined walls 5 from the inside of the body and are controlled by levers 6, which are articulated around axes 7. These levers are provided with toothed sectors 8 meshed
so that their movement is coordinated and united. Each lever has a bend 9 with an elongated opening or eyelet 10 where nipples 11 which are integral with the corners 2 operate and by means of which the movement of the corners takes place.
The two corners 2 are pushed by springs 12 which tend to place them in a position for blocking the rope 4.
The corners 2 themselves show in the edges opposite the teeth 8 notches 13 with ramps 14 located opposite stops or cams 15 formed by the ends of as many screws 16 whose position can be adjusted.
Inside the box I there are two arms 17 articulated around axes 18 with opposite sectors 19, by way of pliers, which exert constant pressure on the rope 4.
The arms 17 extend beyond the interior of the body 1 and each have a ring 19a through which tie rods 20 attached to a conventional hitch pass.
The body I is provided with a tubular handle 21 crossed by the cord 4, and comprises a ring 22 for guiding the tie rods 20.
The braking device described is joined to a hitch that the user must put so that, in the descent position, his weight acts on the arms 17 and that the clamps 19 tighten the rope 4 with a force directly proportional to the weight of the 'user.
In the rest position, the corners 2, which act as jaws, block the rope 4 and the descent of the device is made impossible. The user, clinging to the handle 21 and hanging from the hitch, remains for and descends only when he brings the two levers 6 together to cause the displacement of the corners 2 (fig. 2) and the release of the remaining rope pinched by the curved sectors 19, which constitute a means of friction but not of blocking.
If the user brings the levers 6 too close, the retainers 15 then come into contact with the ramps 14 and the corners 2 approach, while again blocking the rope 4 (fig. 3).
If the user releases the handles, the springs 12 push the corners towards the rest position (fig. 1) and then block the rope.
The user can perfectly adjust his gradual descent without any danger, since any lack of control on his part on the brake, either that it brings the levers too close, or that it releases them, causes immediate blocking and makes an uncontrolled descent impossible.
