The present invention relates to a mooring hook making it possible to pass a double line around a fixed point (loop, buoy, bar, etc.) inaccessible by the hand of the user.
Current mooring gaffs can only grab this fixed point which the user must approach in order to surround it with a rope using his hands. There is also a mooring hook fixed by a slide at the end of a handle and retained by the user by means of the rope. Once the hook is engaged around the fixed point, the user releases the line, thus letting the hook come out of the slide. This forces the user to get closer to the fixed point within easy reach, in order to recover the hook, when he wants to leave this mooring.
The object of the invention is to enable the user to pass a double rope around a fixed point which is not within reach of his hand.
The mooring hook according to the invention is characterized by a spring arm which can be released by a trigger lever, arranged so as to be able to grip the end of the rope by means of a spring clip.
Figs. 1 and 2 of the appended drawing represent, by way of example, an embodiment of the mooring boat hook object of the invention.
This example is arbitrarily designed for a 10mm diameter rope. Figs. 3 to 7 of the accompanying drawing represent the operating diagram of the boat hook. The arrows in broad lines indicate the movements given by the user and the arrows in thin lines the movements inherent in the mechanism itself.
The mooring hook shown attached to the end of a handle 10 comprises a fixed part 1 provided with a groove 8 in which the rope passes and a clip 9 retaining the end of the rope.
An articulated arm 2 and armed with a spring 3 has at its end a spring clamp 6 7. A release lever 4 integral with the hook 11 slides under the hook and is armed with a return spring 5. A cam 12 armed a spring 13 releases the spring clamp 6 by striking the stop 14.
The gaff described works as follows: Pass the curved part of the gaff around the fixed point (fig. 3). By pressing the release lever against the fixed point, the hook releases the articulated arm which grips the end of the rope (fig. 4 and 5). By pushing back the mooring hook, the user gives a wrist movement to free the rope previously passed through the groove and held at its end by the clip 9 (fig. 6). The user then pushes the arm back against the fixed point and pulls the boat hook (fig. 7), letting the other end of the line slip. For future use, the user manually resets the arm and spring clip 6.
CLAIM
Mooring hook for passing a double line around a fixed point inaccessible to the user's hand, characterized by a spring-loaded arm that can be released by a release lever and arranged so that the end can be grasped rope by means of a spring clip.

1. Mooring hook according to claim, characterized by a clamp, not needing to be re-armed and capable of gripping the end of the rope.
2. Mooring hook according to claim, characterized in that the arm is terminated by a piece which marries the end of the rope, itself terminated by a tip specially designed for this coupling.
