The present invention relates to the field of perfumery; in particular, it relates to a device intended for perfuming ambient air or closed enclosures, device containing a composition having improved diffusion power through sheets, films or membranes of polymeric material.

The ambient air freshener market has acquired increasing importance over the last decade and several techniques have been proposed in order to produce articles allowing regular distribution of the active ingredients intended to mask or neutralize the bad odors in the area.

Among the techniques proposed, most call on the use of perfumes as unique active principles and their diffusion is carried out using various articles such as sprays, aerosols or mechanical bottles, or scented solid supports of varied nature. .

With the help of a summary table, we summarize below the types of articles currently known by giving for each of them an appreciation of the advantages and possible disadvantages that they present.

mantis. Among the substances which exert such a ripple effect are, in particular, benzyl acetate,

terpenes and hydrocarbons commonly used in perfumery,

dialkylglycolic ethers, and low polarity aromatic or aliphatic esters.

By an appropriate combination of the perfume composition with one or more of the above-mentioned substances, it is therefore possible to obtain new perfume compositions having an improved diffusion power through membranes made of polymeric material. We have found that the diffusion of the perfume takes place in this case on a regular and complete basis. These observations led us to the creation of articles consisting of containers of polymeric material, or having at least one wall of polymeric material, and containing perfuming compositions, said articles being intended for the perfuming of ambient air or closed enclosures.

The present invention therefore relates to a liquid-tight device intended for scenting ambient air or closed chambers, characterized in that it has at least one wall made of polymeric material allowing the diffusion towards the outside of perfuming ingredients active ingredients and that it contains a perfume composition enriched with a substance of low polarity chosen from the following:

- Iinalyle acetate,

- a terpene,

- an aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbon,

- an alkyl glycolic ether, or

- an aliphatic or aromatic ester.

The invention is defined as indicated in the claims. The device described above can be of various shape and volume. Of course, the area of the wall or walls made of polymeric material represents a determining factor for the speed of diffusion of the active odoriferous ingredients; its value therefore depends on the particular use envisaged.

Other factors, such as the nature of the polymeric substance used and its thickness, will also influence the rate of diffusion.

The wall or walls of the device of the invention may consist of one or more sheets, films or preformed membranes. The material of these sheets, films or membranes is a high molecular weight substance. By way of example, the following materials can be mentioned:

- polyethylene,

- polypropylene,

- ethylcellulose,

- cellulose acetate,

- cellulose triacetate,

- cellophane,

- polyamide,

- polyvinyl chloride,

- polyesters,

- polyacryl.

The best effects were obtained by using LD (low density) and HD (high density) polyethylene, and polypropylene.

The device of the invention has the advantage of being able to be easily manufactured, hence a cost price lower than that of the products currently marketed. The diffusion of the active perfuming ingredients obtained using the device of the invention takes place more regularly than that obtained by the use of other known devices. Among the advantages presented by the device of the invention, it should also be mentioned that this allows a visual indication of the end of the activity. This indication is made possible by the transparency of the sheets, films or membranes made of material. plastic used as walls of the object in question; it can be made easier by the use of colored perfume compositions. On the other hand, given the tightness of the article, tightness obtained for example by welding the external constituent elements of the device, these same perfume compositions are protected from the influence of the surrounding elements, which allows the use of the article of the invention in places usually humid and hot, such as closed and heated enclosures, such as dishwashing machines or those intended for washing and drying laundry. However, it is well known that the scenting of such devices presents many difficulties when resorting to the usual means of commerce, such as those mentioned above.

In particular, the scenting of dishwashing machines cannot be carried out properly, in particular because of the chemically too aggressive nature of the detergents used, normally of the chlorinated type. Such products quickly break down most perfumers, making them ineffective. The device of the invention, by preventing direct contact of the perfuming agent with the external environment, overcomes such a difficulty.

The device of the invention can be in very diverse embodiments: cube, cylinder, bag for example. The article can be used as is in the room or in the enclosure that you want to scent.

It can also be used in a sheath, a packaging or an optionally sliding case, which, during storage, would be kept closed in order to prevent the diffusion of the active perfuming elements and which, on the other hand, during the use, could be partially or completely open to allow such diffusion in the surrounding environment.

The invention is illustrated in more detail by the following examples.

Example 1:

Various liquid perfume mixtures were placed between two sheets of LD (low density) type polyethylene 0.1 mm thick and, by means of welds, sachets were produced with a capacity of approximately 7 ml (welding device:

Closing 400, Goisten & Kettenbaum GmbH, Bensberg-Herkenrath, FRG). The content of each of the sachets obtained was approximately 3, respectively 6 g of perfuming composition, as is shown using the table below.

The sachets were subsequently hung by means of a hook and kept in a normally ventilated chamber at a temperature of about 20-25 ° C and their weight was determined after 30, respectively 60 d. The difference in weight observed between the weighings determines the measurement of the evaporation of the perfume composition, which represents an indirect index of the effectiveness of the deodorant article.

In said table, with regard to the perfuming composition, the evaporation measurement is expressed, expressed in grams, after 30, respectively 60 d of use.

The choice of adjuvant fell on a mixture of terpenes commonly used in perfumery, known as terpenes Portugal. As shown with the aid of the table above, such an addition to the perfuming composition makes it possible to increase the diffusion of the composition and thus to improve its effectiveness as a deodorizing ingredient.

Example 2:

3 g of an alcoholic solution of menthol (3% in 95% ethanol) were introduced into a polyethylene bag of LD type which was then sealed and suspended in the ambient air in a normally ventilated room .

Even after a few hours, it became difficult to be able to detect in the room the characteristic smell of menthol.

When 3 g of a same alcoholic solution of menthol is added to 3 g of a mixture of orange terpenes, a clear increase in the diffusion of menthol in the ambient air has been observed, the odor being perceptible after a few minutes already.
