PATENTANSPRÜCHE

In jet weaving machines, as is known, the weft thread is transported through the shed by a fluid ejected by at least one nozzle. If this fluid is a liquid, the weft insertion is generally carried out without further aids. If, on the other hand, the fluid is a gas, for example air, then additional means are required which ensure the bundling of the air jet over the weaving width. These means are generally formed by a guide channel which extends over the weaving width and into which the weft thread is blown in through the nozzle arranged on the side of the warp threads.
Since it can happen that the weft thread gets caught on its edge when it enters the guide channel, which naturally has the smallest possible cross section, it is advantageous to prevent this getting caught by a suitable device.
The invention relates to a weft guide device on a jet loom to enable the undisturbed entry of the weft driven by a fluid ejected from a nozzle into a guide channel that extends over the weaving width and is driven in operation in time with the movement of the reed.
A known device of this type, which is described in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 53-119367, is formed in that the nozzle has a displaceable mixing tube at its end facing the guide channel, which is pushed by a drive at the beginning of each weft insertion up to the guide channel and is withdrawn in good time before each shot. Apart from the fact that this sliding mixing tube makes the weaving machine even more expensive, together with its drive it also represents a potential source of interference.
The invention is intended to provide a device of the type mentioned which, on the one hand, requires the least possible effort and, on the other hand, means no additional source of interference. In addition, this device should also be easily attachable to existing weaving machines.
This object is achieved according to the invention by an element which is arranged between the nozzle and the guide channel and can be moved synchronously with the guide channel and has a recess which is flush with the guide channel and continues towards the nozzle and which is widened like a funnel toward the nozzle.
The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to an exemplary embodiment shown in the drawing, which shows a perspective view of a detail from a reed with a nozzle and a device according to the invention:
The reed shown in the drawing is intended for use on an air jet loom and has a guide channel 2 for the weft threads. The weft is introduced through a nozzle 3 arranged on the side of the warp threads, to which nozzle the weft thread in the direction of arrow A and the air required for transporting the weft thread are fed via a line 4 (not shown) connected to a nozzle.
At its front end facing the reed 1, the nozzle 3 is provided with a mixing tube 5, the longitudinal axis of which is parallel to the longitudinal axis of the guide channel 2 and is preferably flush with the latter.
The reed 1 consists in a known manner of a plurality of straight and profiled leaf teeth 6 and 7 and an upper and lower frame rail 8 and 9, which surround the ends of the leaf teeth. Next to the frame rails 8 and 9 there is a winding between the individual teeth, each of a spring 10 and 11 which defines the mutual spacing of the leaf teeth.
For the sake of clarity, the thickness of the leaf teeth 6 and 7 and their distances are drawn in excessively large.
As shown, a straight and a profiled leaf tooth 6 or 7 is alternately arranged; Of course, this distribution can vary within a wide range and, for example, only profiled leaf teeth 7 could also be provided.
The profiled leaf teeth 7 have two elevations 12 and 13 on their longitudinal edge facing the tissue stop edge during operation, the inner edges of which form the longitudinal legs of a U-shaped recess 14. The entirety of all the recesses 14 forms the guide channel 2. The cross leg of the U-shaped recesses 14 is flush with the front edge of the straight leaf teeth 6 facing the tissue stop edge.
An element 15 is arranged between the nozzle 3 and the reed, which enables the weft thread driven by the nozzle 3 to enter the guide channel 2 undisturbed. In the exemplary embodiment shown, this element has the shape of an overly thick profiled tooth with a recess 16 corresponding to the recess 14, which is widened in a funnel shape towards the nozzle 3. The thickness of the element 15 is about 10 to 15 mm, a light metal or a corresponding alloy is preferably used as the material.
The element 15 is arranged on the weaving machine in such a way that its recess 16 is aligned with the guide channel 2
and driven synchronously with it; it is therefore preferably mounted on the sley. This applies particularly to the application on the so-called confuser machines, which are weaving machines with a conventional blade made exclusively of straight teeth and with a guide comb, the so-called confuser, which is separate from the blade.
In the case of the application shown in the drawing on a weaving machine in which the guide channel 2 is integrated in the sheet 1, it is particularly advantageous to fasten the element directly to the sheet, which is shown by tabs 17 and clamping screws 18. In this way, the element 15 can also be retrofitted in the simplest way. The tabs 17 with the element 15 are fastened on the frame rails 8 and 9 in such a way that the element 15 rests with its one side surface on the first leaf tooth. The distance between the thread exit end of the mixing tube 5 and the other side surface of the element 15 is not very critical because of the funnel-shaped widening of the recess 16 and can be from a few millimeters to a maximum of about 2 cm.
