Fig. 1 eine schaubildliche Ansicht der erfindungsgemässen Pfeife,
Fig. 3 eine Schnittansicht nach der Schnittlinie III-III in Fig. 2.

10. tobacco pipe or cigarette holder according to one of claims 1 to 9, characterized in that the ring (9) is made of brass.
The invention relates to a tobacco pipe or cigarette holder with an adjustable air inlet opening on the intake manifold.
From DT-PS 345 162 a tobacco pipe is known, in the suction pipe of which an air inlet opening opens, which is formed by a pierced threaded lip I which is inserted into the suction pipe. A cap that has air inlet openings at different heights can be screwed onto the part of the threaded nipple that protrudes from the suction pipe. The air intake can be regulated by screwing up or screwing down the cap.
The known tobacco pipe has the disadvantage that the parts of the threaded nipple and the screw-on cap which protrude radially from the suction pipe are very disruptive both in the handling of the pipe and in aesthetic terms. There is also the disadvantage that the threaded nipple can be torn out relatively easily from the suction pipe of the pipe.
A pipe is known from US Pat. No. 3,267,941, in the mouthpiece of which six slit-like air inlet openings are incorporated, which open into the smoke channel of the suction pipe in the area of a filter insert. With this pipe, the air insert cannot be regulated, and there is the disadvantage that the sucked-in air has to pass through the filter insert. Furthermore, this known pipe has the disadvantage that the air inlet openings in the lower region of the suction pipe are easily clogged by the condensates from the smoke.
The present invention has for its object to provide a tobacco pipe or a cigarette holder with a controllable air inlet opening on the intake manifold, which is easy to handle and maintain and which is not affected in aesthetic form by the controllable air inlet opening.
This object is achieved according to the invention in that the air inlet opening is arranged in a cylindrical region of the intake manifold and on this cylindrical region a cylindrical ring covering the air inlet opening is rotatably mounted, in which at least one passage opening which is movable via the air inlet opening is arranged.
Depending on how far the passage opening of the ring is made to coincide with the air inlet opening, the effective air passage cross section is large or small. To make it easier to set the effective cross section, it is proposed to arrange in the ring a plurality of passage openings of different sizes which can be moved via the air inlet opening and whose cross sections are smaller than the cross section of the air inlet opening in the intake manifold.
Since the cross-section of the air inlet opening can be larger than the largest through-opening in the rotatable ring, the setting of the desired through-cross-section makes no difficulties. To set the ring, small projections, for example knurling, can be arranged on the ring, projecting beyond the cylindrical surface of the ring. Preferably, however, the outer surface of the ring lies flush with the adjacent outer surfaces of the suction pipe, and the ring is 5 to 12 mm wide. As a result of this design, the ring can be gripped and rotated conveniently using the thumb and index finger.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the suction pipe is composed of a head piece and a mouth piece which can be inserted into the head piece, and the cylindrical region with the air inlet opening and the ring is arranged following the plug-in part which can be inserted into the head piece. Seen from the outside, the rotatable ring is located between the mouthpiece and the headpiece of the suction pipe. If the mouthpiece is pulled out of the headpiece, the ring can be pulled off its bearing surface, so that both the air inlet opening and the passage opening of the ring can be easily cleaned.
Further features of embodiments of the invention result from the dependent claims.
An embodiment is described in the following description
game of the pipe according to the invention explained in more detail with reference to the drawings. The drawing shows in
1 is a perspective view of the pipe according to the invention,
Fig. 2 is a sectional view along the section line II-II in Fig. 1 and
3 shows a sectional view along the section line III-III in FIG. 2.
The pipe shown with the pipe bowl 1, the head piece 2 of the suction pipe connected to it in one piece and the mouth piece 3 has an adjustable air supply, which is composed of an air inlet opening 8 arranged in the front area of the mouthpiece 3, which is located in a cylindrical area 5 of the mouthpiece 3 is arranged on which a cylindrical ring 9 is rotatably mounted. In the ring 9 several passage openings 10 of different sizes are arranged, which can be moved by rotating the ring over the air inlet opening 8.
The ring 9 lies with its outer surface flush with the adjacent outer surface of the head piece 2 of the intake manifold. The area of the mouthpiece 3 adjoining the ring 9 also has an outer diameter which corresponds to that of the ring 9.
The mouthpiece 3 is inserted into the head piece 2 of the suction pipe by means of an insertion part 4. In the rear area of the head piece 2 and the front area of the mouthpiece 3, the smoke channel widens in such a way that a filter insert 7 can be accommodated.
As shown in FIG. 2, the air inlet opening is arranged behind the expansion of the smoke duct 6 intended for receiving the filter insert 7. The air inlet opening 8 and the passage openings 10 are arranged in an edge region of the ring 9 and on the edge region of the mouthpiece 3 adjoining this edge region of the ring 9 there is an arrow-like marking 11 corresponding to the inlet opening 8, so that the respectively desired passage opening can be passed without difficulty the air inlet opening 8 can be brought. The cross sections of the passage openings 10 become smaller and smaller in one direction of rotation. In this way, it is particularly easy to regulate the desired air supply in each case.
So that the air supply, once set, is not inadvertently adjusted, it can be advantageous to arrange a resilient catch 12 in the cylindrical region 5 of the mouthpiece 3, which automatically engages in the recesses 13 associated with the passage openings 10. The resilient catch can be formed by a correspondingly curved leaf spring which is fastened in a slot-like recess in the mouthpiece 3. Likewise, the resilient catch can be formed by a ball, which is held under tension by a coil spring. After inserting the spring and the detent ball into the required hole, it is advisable to caulk the outlet opening of the hole so that the ball can no longer jump out of this opening.
The passage openings 10 can advantageously also be arranged in the middle of a relatively narrow, approximately 6 mm wide ring. This has the advantage that during assembly it is irrelevant which end face the ring 9 is pushed onto the mouthpiece 3. It has been shown that it is advantageous to produce the ring 9 from a stainless material, in particular brass.
The invention can also be used for cigarette holders, provided that the head piece 2 of the suction tube is provided with a receiving opening for cigarettes.
