Description
The present invention therefore aims to provide a means for reducing the flammability of the hair spray jets regardless of the propellant used for the lacquer solutions and, in particular, in the case where said solutions are propelled by liquefied hydrocarbons or by compressed dissolved gases such as carbon dioxide or nitrous oxide. According to the invention, at least one flammability reducing product is added to the mixture contained in the pressurized container containing the hair spray solution which, being ejected into the spray jet at the same time as the other conditioned products, makes it possible to reduce considerably the flammability of the spray jet and thereby eliminate any danger for the user.
The present invention therefore relates to the assembly formed by a pressurized container and a hair spray composition conditioned in said container, partially in gaseous form and partially in the form of a single liquid phase, the container comprising at least one valve. dispenser supplying a spray device in liquid form, said composition comprising, firstly, at least one resin capable of constituting a hair spray, secondly, a non-aqueous, flammable dissolution phase, making it possible to dissolve the (or the aforementioned resin (s) and, thirdly, a propellant phase, part of which is in gaseous form inside the pressurized container, said propellant phase generating the pressurization pressure, characterized in that the composition contains at least one bromofluoroalkane used as a flammability reducing fluid, this bromofluoroalkane preferably being chosen from the group formed by bromotrifluoromethane, dibromotetrafluoro-1,1,2,2-ethane, dibromodifluoromethane, dibromohexafluoro-propane.
In a preferred embodiment, the bromofluoroalkanes are preferably present in the composition in a proportion ranging from 0.5 to 40% by weight. Those of these products which have a vapor pressure greater than an atmosphere at the temperature of use may be components of the propellant phase of the composition and may even constitute the whole of said propellant phase. The proportion by weight of flammability reducing products in the composition is advantageously all the more important since this product also has a propellant function for ejecting the composition from the pressurized container. If the flammability reducing product has no propellant function, as is the case, for example, for dibromotetrafluoroethane and dibromohexafluoropropane, which have boiling temperatures above 40 ° C, the composition according to The invention preferably contains 0.5 to 15% by weight of these products; the same is generally true for dibromodifluoromethane, the boiling temperature of which is approximately 15 ° C. If on the contrary a flammability reducing product capable of participating in the propulsion of the composition is used, as is the case, for example, for bromotrifluoromethane, it is generally preferred to introduce into the composition larger quantities of flammability reducing products, these amounts preferably ranging from 10 to 40% by weight.
La phase de dissolution de la composition selon l'invention comporte avantageusement au moins un produit pris dans le groupe formé par: The dissolution phase of the composition according to the invention advantageously comprises at least one product taken from the group formed by:
a) les alcanols inférieurs, tels que l'éthanol, le propanol, l'isopro-panol, le butanol; a) lower alkanols, such as ethanol, propanol, isopropanol, butanol;
b) les solvants tels que le 1,1,1-trichloroéthane et le chlorure de méthylène; b) solvents such as 1,1,1-trichloroethane and methylene chloride;
It is clear that certain products of the dissolution phase can also have a propellant function: this is the case, in particular, if the dissolution phase comprises butane, isobutane, propane or their mixtures. The composition according to the invention may advantageously comprise from 0 to 94% of lower alkanol (s), from 0 to 35% of solvent (s) and from 0 to 25% of diluent (s), all these percentages being indicated by weight relative to the total composition.
Until now, hair lacquer compositions have generally contained a high proportion of ethanol which, despite its high price, could not be replaced by more volatile solvents so as not to increase the flammability of the product. spray jet. The fact that the composition appearing in the assembly according to the invention comprises at least one flammability reducing product makes it possible to replace part of the ethanol with a more volatile solvent such as butane, isobutane, propane, pentane, hexane or heptane, without increasing the risk of flammability; this replacement has, moreover, the advantage, for a spray jet of given geometrical and dimensional characteristics, of reducing the wetting power of the spray jet: this advantage is very appreciable taking into account the fact that the user of a container pressurized dispensing a hairspray composition should not have the impression, when dispensing, of having a wet head.
Furthermore, when a flammability reducing product is used, the vapor pressure of which at the temperature of use is greater than one atmosphere, this product is ejected at the same time as the resin solution and contributes, by its instantaneous vaporization at the time of its arrival in the atmosphere, on obtaining a very fine spray, which constitutes one of the essential characteristics of the spray jet that is desired for the distribution of a hair spray.
In addition, if the propellant phase consists at least partially of a flammable hydrocarbon, the use of a flammability reducing product which participates in the propulsion of the composition makes it possible to reduce in the composition the proportions of flammable propellant hydrocarbon: for example, the use of 15% by weight of bromotrifluoromethane can make it possible, for a composition propelled by isobutane, to reduce the proportion of isobutane by 30 to 15%. It can therefore be seen that the use of such a flammability reducing product makes it possible to reduce the flammability of the spray jet, not only because of the presence of a flammability reducing product in the jet, but also because the decrease in the proportion of the flammable propellant necessary for the ejection of the composition.

The propulsion of the composition appearing in the assembly according to the invention can be ensured either by at least one product taken from the group formed by volatile hydrocarbons, such as butane, isobutane, propane or their mixtures, and by dimethyl ether, or fiuoroalkanes, which can also have a reducing flammability function, as is the case for example for bromotrifluoromethane, either by at least one gas under pressure, for example carbon dioxide or nitrous oxide , said gas being partially dissolved in the liquid phase of the composition. When the propellant phase is thus constituted by a partially dissolved gas, the composition advantageously contains from 5 to 10% by weight of said gas, and the pressurization pressure is advantageously between 2 and 8 bar. When the propellant function is ensured by hydrocarbons, dimethyl ether or fiuoroalkanes, these products preferably constitute from 10 to 40% by weight of the composition according to the invention.
Ces résines peuvent avantageusement être choisies dans le groupe formé par: The resins which can be used in the compositions appearing in the assembly according to the invention are, if necessary, at least partially neutralized by neutralizing agents; these neutralizing agents can advantageously be taken from the group formed by sodium hydroxide, 2-amino 2-methyl 1-propanol, 2-amino 2-methyl 1,3-propanediol, triisopropanolamine and tri-thanolamine. The resins are used, preferably, in the composition according to the invention in an amount of between 0.5 and 10% by weight relative to the total weight of the composition. The composition appearing in the assembly according to the invention may also contain in its liquid phase various ingredients such as plasticizers, silicones, lanolin derivatives, perfumes. It has been found that, in all cases, the use of a flammability reducing product in the composition appearing in the assembly according to the invention makes it possible to considerably reduce the risks of flammability of the spray jet obtained. with said compositions. The flammability measurements were carried out according to the method described by Lefebvre at the Aerosol Congress in Berlin in 1967, using the apparatus of Dr. Roth: according to this method, a spray jet is sent over a flame , and the length of flame produced by the aerosol spray downstream of the ignition flame is measured and, when it occurs, the return of the flame in the aerosol jet upstream of the ignition flame. The compositions corresponding to the different spray jets are then classified into six classes defined according to the table below:

To better understand the object of the invention, we will now describe several examples purely illustrative and not limiting. In these examples, the flammability characteristics are given using the classes defined above and by comparing the characteristics of the compositions appearing in the assembly according to the invention with those of the corresponding compositions, in which no reducing product is included. of flammability and in which the relative proportions of the other constituents have been maintained, the propulsion being ensured by an absolute pressure of 5 bar established, if necessary, by the addition of compressed nitrogen. In all of the examples, the resins have been defined by their trade names as indicated above in the description.
