Description
The invention relates to a filter with a long smoke channel to make smoking harmless, as described in claim 1.
A large number of filter cartridges are known which consist, for example, of absorbent material, those which contain chemicals of different types and compositions and others which consist of hollow cylinders pushed into one another. With some filters of this type, the smoke is passed through narrow smoke passages in order to separate out tar and nicotine particles.
Most of the known filters have the sole purpose of de-nicotizing the smoke without taking into account the elimination of the highly toxic gases, in particular the carbon monoxide. To achieve this, the smoke path for these filters is much too short with a maximum of 55 mm.
The measures identified from scientific studies as necessary to render tobacco smoke harmless were previously considered unrealizable and have therefore probably not yet been implemented in the commercially available filters.
Pioneering in this area is which on the occasion of the «II. Price question of the Luigi Bernhardini Memorial Competition »by Dr. A. Wenusch submitted the letter in March 1942: "What measures can be taken to make smoking harmless?"
This document clearly describes the requirements for the greatest possible filtering of the pollutants contained in tobacco smoke: 1. extremely long smoke path,
2. Änderung der Rauchgeschwindigkeit und 3. Richtungsänderung des Rauchweges. 2. Change the smoke speed and 3. Change the direction of the smoke path.
The object of the present invention is to implement a filter for the stated purpose, in which the filter of 5 Dr. Wenusch not only meets the criteria mentioned, but can also be surpassed by further improvements and is so small that the filter does not exceed the customary dimensions.
This object is achieved according to the invention in that the filter consists of a filter core and a filter jacket and is characterized in that radial incisions are made in the cylindrical filter core, which together with the filter jacket limit the smoke channel. With a core length of 15, the length of the smoke channel can be, for example, 40 mm to 600 mm.
The smoke channel is designed, for example, so that the smoke describes a circular path as it passes through the filter, which changes its direction continuously or several times alternately by 340 and 20 180 ° from the beginning to the end. As a result, the smoke is continuously rotated, which causes an intensive swirling of the smoke; this and the rectangular cross-section of the smoke duct with a circumference 20% larger than a round cross-section not only leads to a better deposit of the tar and nicotine particles on the walls of the smoke duct, but also molecules of the gas phase, such as the highly toxic carbon monoxide, bound and deposed. In order to reduce the toxicity of the carbon monoxide even more, small ventilation openings can be provided at the filter end. In order to remove any tar and nicotine residues remaining in the smoke after passing through the smoke duct, agents can be attached to the filter jacket at the end of the smoke path, which cause additional cleaning. 35 With the filter according to the invention an unprecedented degree of detoxification of the smoke is achieved.
The technical progress of the subject of the present invention in comparison to the filters known to date results from the very long smoke path with very small dimensions, repeated or continuous changes in direction and repeated changes in the speed of the smoke; In addition to a good nicotine separation, the much more toxic gases are made harmless.
Es zeigen beispielsweise: 45 Details and refinements of the present subject matter of the invention result from the following description of the exemplary embodiments shown in the drawing in conjunction with the claims. nach Fig. 14 aus einer Zigarettenspitze besteht. 14 consists of a cigarette holder. The tobacco smoke has free access from the cigarette insertion side 4 to the smoke channel 2 formed by the filter core incision 2 and filter jacket 3. The tobacco smoke continuously changes its direction through the spiral smoke channel 2 and at the end leaves the smoke outlet 6 through a narrow nozzle opening 5 If smoke is not directed straight ahead but in a circle, no column of smoke can form, which experience has shown would only touch the outside of the duct wall. Due to the circular movement of the smoke, the smoke is constantly pushed back on the walls of the smoke duct and thereby whirled through thoroughly, with the result that the smoke's particles collide and stick together. Larger and heavier particles are formed, which are more easily caught on all boundary surfaces of the smoke duct. The molecules of the highly toxic gases collide with nicotine particles, too, and this leads to the rapid elimination of these dangerous toxic gases.
The filter shown in Fig. 3 in longitudinal section and in Fig. 6 to 9 in partial sections consists of a filter core with radial parallel cuts 9 and the filter jacket 13. The core cuts 9 between each two adjacent "lamellae" 10 are on one side of the axis 11 starting with a web 12 Fig. 7 to 9 closed to the edge of the lamella and together with the filter jacket 13 form the smoke channel. At the edge of the lamellae 10, smoke passages 14, 15 and 18 are arranged alternately on the right and left of the webs, which can be of different shape and size.
The mode of operation of the filter according to FIG. 3 is explained below with reference to FIGS. 6 to 9. The core incisions 9 form the smoke duct with the filter jacket 13. The smoke is drawn in through the smoke passage 18 in the upper lamella 16, FIGS. 3 and 6, and comes directly into the ones below through the two upper lamellae 16 and
10 formed space 9, is rotated about 340 ° to the left in a circle and comes with a deflection of 180 ° through the smoke passage 14 Fig. 3 one step lower into the next space and 5 again by 340 °, but now rotating to the right, guided in a circle in order to be led one step lower down again to the left through the smoke passage 15 FIG. 8. These processes are repeated several times until the smoke leaves the smoke duct through the smoke passage 18, FIGS. 3 and 9. A partial compression and acceleration of the smoke can be achieved with this filter in that the smoke passages 14 and 15 or the core incisions 9 are selected to be of different sizes, which further enhances the filter effect.
15 In the filter shown in FIG. 3, the smoke at the end of the filter is subjected to a final cleaning by means of the nozzle 5 or a granulate filling 21 FIG. 10 as an additional filter. Through the fresh air openings 7 Fig. 1, 3, 11 and 14 provided at the end of the filter, the carbon monoxide can also be detoxified even more.
The filter described above with the lamella core according to FIG. 3 results in an even better detoxification of the tobacco smoke than the filter with the spiral filter core according to FIG. 1, because the agglomeration of nicotine particles 25 and highly toxic gas molecules increases with the change in speed and the direction of movement .
