5. An apparatus for performing the method according to claim 1, characterized in that a first heating arrangement (2) for heating the plastic web on both sides is present, that an exposed path (B) for the plastic web connects to said first heating arrangement and that a second heating arrangement (3) is present.
6. The device according to claim 5, characterized in that the first heating arrangement (2) is set up for carrying out the plastic web in the vertical direction from bottom to top, but that the exposed path is set up for carrying out in the vertical direction from top to bottom and that the second heating arrangement is designed as a horizontal passage.
The present invention relates to a method for preheating a sheet-like thermoplastic plastic web in accordance with the preamble of independent claim 1 and a device for carrying out the method in accordance with the preamble of independent claim 5.
It is known that the molding machines for processing sheet-shaped thermoplastic are provided with a heating system in order to heat the material before it is processed. Containers for packaging food, for example, are then produced from such plastic webs. For good quality of the containers, it is necessary for the plastic material to have a temperature during the molding process at which the material can be plastically deformed. A deviation from this temperature can have a major impact either on the workflow or in the quality. However, it is known that it is not possible to heat the plastic sheets consistently and uniformly with today's molding machines, so that the temperature in the zones on the surface and in a central zone is at least approximately the same.
It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a method and a device in order to remedy this disadvantage, such that better deformability of the starting material can be obtained and an increase in production of up to 50% can be achieved.
According to the invention, this is achieved with a method according to the features in the characterizing part of independent patent claim 1. The device for performing the method is characterized by the features in the characterizing part of independent patent claim 5.
The present invention leads to a preheating of the thermoplastic plastic web before it is fed into the molding machine. The device required for this could be manufactured as a single machine or it could just as well be attached to an existing molding machine.
An embodiment of the invention is explained below with reference to the single figure.
In the drawing, an apparatus for performing the method is shown schematically. A plastic sheet 1 is removed as usual on a roll and guided in the vertical direction by a heating arrangement 2 from bottom to top. At the upper end of the heating arrangement 2 there is a deflection roller in order to guide the plastic web again in the vertical direction but from top to bottom.
Finally, the plastic web is guided in a horizontal direction through a second heating arrangement 3 via a further deflection roller and finally arrives at the molding machine 4. The heating arrangements can be electrically heated heating plates or plates heated with another heating medium as well. The cooling section between the two deflection rollers runs through the ambient air, but it could just as well be led through a cooling chamber or through a section in the air flow of a fan.
The path A, which the plastic sheet has to travel through the first heating arrangement 2, must be selected such that a continuous heating of the plastic is obtained, such that the zones on the surface of the sheet are brought to the desired temperature. The path length B for cooling the plastic web, on the other hand, must be dimensioned such that the surface zones can radiate part of the absorbed heat again, in such a way that in a further heating arrangement with a path length C the material can be brought to the same temperature throughout.
According to one embodiment, the plastic web in the first heating arrangement 2 is heated to a temperature of at least approximately 950 and in the subsequent cooling the surface zones are cooled to a temperature of at least approximately 60. It can then be achieved by the second heating arrangement 3 that the plastic web has a temperature of 950C throughout, for example.
This uniform heating of the plastic sheet allows, in addition to a better quality of the products, the use of a thinner film in order to obtain the same thickness of the product as before. This can also save raw material.
