Any channels extending from the front side that would have to be covered during the spraying process are included in the
Spreading core not available. There is therefore no need for a nose-like head forming the tip of the expanding core.
Rather, additional parts are only used to enable the opposite demolding of molded parts if this should become necessary. In the case of the invention, the side slides converge parallel and radially in relation to the core pin during their axial movement, so that even long undercuts can be removed from a molded part. Any type of undercut can be removed from the mold, both in the case of a square and in a round outline, including an angular or side undercut.
Due to its structure, the expanding core is a solid unit that does not allow burrs to form on the plastic part and allows the highest levels of accuracy. Due to the immediate collapse of the side slides during demoulding, there is no wear even after the expanding core has been used for a long time. The expanding core according to the invention has a low design, which means that no large tools are required for its use. It has no upper diameter limit. The expanding core, in particular the core pin, is extremely simple and cheaper than known expanding cores. The core pin allows a cooling hole to be drilled that extends into its free end, i.e. into the area in which plastic under pressure flows into the tool.
With the right choice of material, the expanding core can be used for thermoplastic processing, thermosetting processing, metal die casting, in a clamping tool and in cutting and punching. The expanding core can be used on any type of injection molding machine since it does not require any additional circuits.
Further developments of the invention are specified in claims 2 to 12. Embodiments of the invention are shown in the drawing and are described in more detail below. They show a schematic representation

The expanding core according to the invention has a core pin 1. Two groups of side shifters 2 and 3 are arranged around the core pin. The side shifters belonging to the same group are constructed identically to one another. One of the side shifters 2 alternates with one of the side shifters 3 on the circumference of the core pin 1. The core pin 1 can contain an additional center core 4. One or more expanding cores are part of a molding tool 5.
The core pin 1 is formed at one end as a connecting part lt for connection to the fixed part of the mold 5. A thread 12 is provided at the free end of the fastening part 11. A central cooling bore 13 opens out on the outer end face of the fastening part 11 and penetrates the entire core pin 1 up to the region of the opposite end face of the core pin 1.
In the exemplary embodiments shown in FIGS. 1 to 5, the core pin 1 is provided with conical outer surfaces 14 and 15 following the fastening part 11. The conicity of the conical outer surface 15 determined by the angle ss is greater than the conicity of the conical outer surface 14 determined by the angle a; in the exemplary embodiment it is approximately twice. The side slides 2 slide along the conical outer surfaces 14 and the side slides 3 along the conical outer surfaces 15. The conical outer surfaces 14 and 15 are provided with dovetail-shaped grooves 16 and 17 for holding the side slides 2 and 3. The conical outer surfaces 14 and 15 and the dovetail-shaped grooves 16 and 17 begin at the fastening part 11 and end at the end face of the core pin 1 opposite the fastening part 11.
The side slides 2 sliding along the conical outer surface 14 of the core pin 1 and guided in the grooves 16 essentially have the shape of a circular segment in cross section. The chord 21 of each segment of the circle is interrupted by a dovetail-shaped projection 22 which engages in the groove 16. At the free end, each side slide 2 is provided with a shoulder 24, the outer surface 25 of which is adapted to the inner surface of the molding. In the exemplary embodiment, the outer surface 25 is provided with parallel grooves. At a distance from the shoulder 24, each side slide 2 has a part 26 of an annular collar, with the aid of which the axial movement of the side slide 2 takes place within the molding tool 5.
The side slides 3 sliding along the conical outer surfaces 15 of the core pin 1 and guided in the grooves 17 essentially have the shape of a trapezoid in cross section, the trapezium having a curved outer base line 31 which is adapted to the curvature of the circular segment of each side slider 2. The other base line 32 is interrupted by a dovetail-shaped projection 33, with the aid of which the side shift 3 is guided in the groove 17.
With its sides 37, each trapeze bears against the chord 21 of the adjacent sideshift 2. This significantly improves the guidance of the sideshift. The side slides 3 also have an extension 34 at the free end, the outer surface 35 of which is adapted to the inner wall of the molded part to be produced. A part 36 of a collar is also provided on each side shift 3 at a distance from the outer surface 35.
The parts 26 and 36 form the complete annular collar. With the help of the federal government, the axial movement of the side slides 3 takes place within the molding tool 5.
In the embodiment shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, the core pin 1 is designed as a hollow body with an open outer end face. The hollow body is filled by the central core 4 inserted from the open end face. The head 41 of the center core 4 serves as a mold core and is designed in accordance with the design of the molded part to be produced. If the core pin 1 is provided with the central core 4, a cooling bore 42 advantageously runs axially in the central core 4. In this configuration, it is possible to make further extensions, for example after an undercut. B. cylindrical extensions to attach, which can also have axial punctures.
When the molding tool 5, of which only the machine side is shown, it is a conventional molding tool with a base plate 5 1, with which the core pin 1 is screwed, two slide guide plates 52 and 53 and a stripper plate 54.
In the embodiment shown in FIGS. 6 to 8, the core pin 1 is connected to the fastening part
11 is provided with three outer surfaces 14 tapering gradually towards its free end. The outer surfaces 14 are angularly offset on the core pin 1 at the same angle. Each outer surface 14 has a beveled step 18 in the region of the free end of the core pin 1.
Apart from the length of the fastening part 11, each outer surface 14 extends essentially over the entire length of the core pin 1. The outer surface 15, which tapers continuously toward the free end of the core pin 1, is provided between each two outer surfaces 14. Each outer surface 15 has the dovetail-shaped groove 17 running centrally and in the axial direction. Each of the outer surfaces 15 extends in the axial direction essentially over half of the core pin 1, starting at its free end.
In the area between the inner end of the outer surface 15 and the beginning of the connecting part 11, the core pin is round without any special features.
The side slides 2 sliding along the outer surfaces 14 of the core pin 1 provided with steps 18 have inner surfaces 28 which are parallel to the axis and which are interrupted by shoulders 29. The side slides 2 are held in contact with the outer surface 14 of the core pin 1 with their axially parallel inner surfaces 28 by means of at least two coil springs 23 spanning the side slides 2 in the region of the end faces. One of the coil springs 23 is arranged in the collar 26. The helical springs 23 are expediently two-start helical springs. Each side slider 2 has essentially the shape of a circular sector in cross section.
The side slides 3 sliding along the conical outer surfaces 15 of the core pin 1 and guided in the grooves 17 each have a conical inner surface 38. Each side slider 3 with a conical inner surface 38 essentially has the shape of a rectangle in cross section. The side walls 39 of the side slide 3 run parallel to and at a distance from the side walls 27 of the side slide 2 which are sector-shaped in cross section. Each side slide 3 is guided in the groove 17 of the outer surface 15 by means of the dovetail-shaped projection 33.
Each of the axially parallel outer surfaces 14 of the core pin 1 has the chamfered step 18 at a distance from the free end of the core pin, which is equal to the length of this mold core. Each of the side slides 2 has one of the shoulders 29 in the form of a beveled step at intervals which are equal to the single and triple the length of this mandrel. In total, three side shifters 2 and three side shifters 3 are provided in the exemplary embodiment.
The core pin 1 therefore has at its free end in plan view essentially the shape of a regular hexagon, in which the dovetail groove 17 is embedded in the center in three sides separated from a continuous side.
In the sprayed state, that is the state shown in FIGS. 1, 3 and 6, all the lugs 24 and 34, possibly with the head 41 of the central core 4, form the mold core for the production of the inner wall of the molded part.
The operation of the expanding core shown in FIGS. 1 to 5 is as follows: After opening the mold and demoulding the molding from the nozzle side not shown, the slide guide plates 52, 53 are first moved with the stripper plate 54 by the path s in the axial direction. The slide guide plates 52, 53 are screwed together and can only travel the path s. Since the core pin 1 is fixedly connected to the non-movable base plate 51, the side slides 2 and 3 which are taken over the collar 26, 36 also move around the path s.
Since the angle a determining the taper of the outer surfaces 14 of the core pin 1 and the side shifters 2 is approximately half as large as the angle ss determining the taper of the outer surfaces 15 of the core pin 1 and the side shifters 3, the side shifters 3 not only slide by the path s in the axial direction, but also slide inward along the chords 21 on the adjacent side slides 2. This enables the side slides 2 to move along the conical outer surfaces 14 on the core pin 1. At the end of the axial movement s, because of the relationship = 2a, the inner edges at the free end of the side slides 3 have covered twice the distance radially inwards relative to their starting position the inner edges at the free end of the sideshifter 2.
The same distance st of the inner edges of the side slides 3 in the sprayed state is therefore smaller than the distance s2 of the inner edges of the side slides 2 from the center line. After covering the distance s, the molded part is free of the side slides 2 and 3 due to the continuous superimposed parallel axial and radial movement inwards: The largest outer diameter of the side slides 2 and 3 is smaller than the smallest inner diameter of the molded part. It can therefore be removed from the mold from the stripper plate 54. When the molding tool 5 moves back into its starting position, the side shifters 2 and 3 slide back into their starting position along the core pin 1. A new spraying process can be initiated.
It is advantageous to equip the molding tool as a multiple tool, that is to say with a plurality of expanding cores.
The entrainment of the side shifters 2 and 3 initially has the consequence in the expanding core shown in FIGS. 6 to 8 that the side shifters 2 are moved on the outer surfaces 14 in parallel to the core pin 1; whereas the side slides 3 are moved axially and radially inwards on the conical outer surfaces 15. This movement is carried out until the inner boundary of the mandrel 24, 34 is substantially aligned with the outer end face of the core pin 1, that is the position shown in FIG. 7. In this position, the side slides 3 have moved inwards to such an extent that the molded part, insofar as it abuts the side slides 3, has already been released. A further axial movement of the side shift 3 is not provided. However, the side shifters 2 are moved further in the axial direction.
This axial direction is continued until the shoulders 29 of the side shifters 2 adjacent to the component 26 are located at the level of the steps 18 in the outer surfaces 14 of the core pin 1. If this point is reached, the coil springs 23 press the side shifters 2 radially inwards. The molding is therefore completely freed from the mold core in the position shown in FIG. 8. With the help of the scraper plate, it can be pushed off the expanding core. As long as the side slides 3 have not assumed their inner axial position, into which they reach via the conical outer surfaces 15 and 35, the side slides 2 cannot be pressed inwards, since both groups of side slides 2 and 3 are in the area of the shoulders 24 and 34 their boundary surfaces lie against each other.
Only after the side shifters 3 have reached the aforementioned inner position can the side shifters 2 also move radially inward after the axial movement of the side shifters 2. In this way, undercuts of up to 25 'in the inside diameter of the molding can be removed.
In their release position, the side slides allow the molding of molded parts with undercuts that are up to 25 C / o of the inside diameter of the molded part. In the release state, the two groups of side shifts do not have to be in the same axial position with respect to the core pin. Rather, the side slides 2 with a stepped inner surface can be moved axially beyond the side slides 3 with a conical inner surface. For this reason and to achieve a greater taper for the side slides with a conical inner surface, it is advantageous if the side slides 2 with a stepped inner surface are longer - practically run over the entire core pin 1 - than those with a conical inner surface - practically only over half the length of the core pin are led -.
