7. Alphorn according to claim 1, characterized in that the plastic tube is wrapped with rattan
The present invention relates to an alphorn with a wooden bowl mouthpiece and a horn, in particular for training purposes.
Alphorns are woodwind instruments with a special tone character for woodwind instruments. The traditional instrument usually has the shape of a straight, conically widening tube that is at least 2.5 meters long and opens into a wooden funnel. The mouthpiece is also made of wood and has a shape and size that differs from that of brass instruments. The overall different characteristics of the instrument compared to brass instruments, such as horns, mean that the alphorn player is reluctant to switch to another wind instrument. However, since playing an alphorn is almost only possible outdoors, this means that the alphorn player has little opportunity to practice when the weather is bad, especially in winter.
The object of the present invention is to provide the alphorn player with an instrument which corresponds to the full tone character of an alphorn and can be played with the same mouthpiece, but takes up less space and has less sound development.
This task is solved by an alphorn with a wooden bowl mouthpiece and sound funnel, which is characterized in that the sound conduit consists of a rolled plastic tube from the mouthpiece to the sound funnel.
An exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is shown in the drawing.
1 shows the alphorn according to the invention in a developed representation, and
Figure 2 shows the finished alphorn.
Although the most striking feature of the alphorn according to the invention is its rolled form, it is shown in a rolled form in FIG. 1 for the sake of clarity. Based on this figure, the structure and manufacture can be explained.
Listed is the wooden bowl mouthpiece typical of the alphorn, as it is also used in the conventional alphorns. This is followed by a plastic pipe section 2 with a constant cross section. This piece of pipe is usually 2 to 4 meters long. In exceptional cases it can be longer. A piece of plastic pipe with an inner diameter of 8-12 mm has proven to be particularly suitable. A conical tube 3 connects to this piece of tube. For this purpose, the inside diameter of the pipe section 2 is expanded to the outside diameter of the adjoining end of the conical pipe section 3. The conical pipe section 3 opens into the wooden horn 4. The joint transition from the pipe section 3 to the horn 4 must be spread with a special filler.
In the manufacture of the pipe section 2, a commercially available plastic pipe is preheated and shaped and cut to length at a temperature of approximately 80-120 Celsius. About one and a half turns of the alphorn shown in FIG. 2 are made with such a plastic tube from, for example, polyvinyl chloride. The subsequent conical pipe section 3 is made of the same material. Right from the start, this piece of pipe is manufactured in the correct shape, i.e. with the desired curvature and the required taper at the correct length. A common taper is 1:30. In order to connect the pipe section 2 to the pipe section 3, one end of the pipe 2 is expanded again with a mandrel while heating to the required size.
The conventional horn of the Alphorn connects to the second opening of the conical pipe section 3. In principle, the sound funnel can be attached to this conical pipe section as desired. In a preferred form, the central axis of the funnel lies in the plane of the winding of the aforementioned tube section, which is wound in the desired radius, and has the same direction of rotation. Of course, other shapes are possible.
The end of the pipe section 2 adjoining the mouthpiece 1 is bent perpendicularly out of the winding plane.
Finally, the entire instrument is wrapped with rattan, so that only the familiar wooden parts of conventional alphorns remain visible.
The alphorn according to the invention has the distinctive musical properties of the alphorn, but is more manageable and can be inserted by the player into the hand
The horns are dampened to the desired level.
Despite the changed shape, the typical acoustic
Sequences of the alphorn are generated without loss of sound,
Sound or mood.
