So zeigen z. B.

Fig. 2 dasselbe, in Draufsicht.

PATENT CLAIMS
1. Electromagnetic mold for continuous and semi-continuous casting of hollow strands, containing an inductor (4), by means of whose electromagnetic field the outer surface (5) of the strand (6) is formed and which is fastened in a housing (1) with a coolant is filled and has openings (12) for supplying the coolant to the outer surface (5) of the strand, and a screen (29) which is arranged between the outer surface (5) of the strand and the inner surface of the inductor (4) and for Distribution of the electromagnetic field of the inductor in the axial direction, characterized in that a second inductor (17) is provided, by means of whose electromagnetic field the inner surface (18) of the strand is formed and which is arranged coaxially to the first-mentioned inductor in a second housing (13) is
which is filled with a coolant and has openings (28) for its supply to the inner surface (18) of the strand, and has a screen (14) which is arranged between the inner surface (18) of the strand and the outer surface of the second inductor and serves to distribute the electromagnetic field of the second inductor in the axial direction.
2. Electromagnetic mold according to claim 1, characterized in that both inductors are single-winding inductors, that the ratio of the height of the first inductor (4) to the height of the second inductor is between 1, 2 and 3 and the two inductors are connected in series.
The present invention relates to an electromagnetic mold for continuous and semicontinuous continuous casting of hollow strands, comprising an inductor, by means of whose electromagnetic field the outer surface of the strand is shaped, and which is fastened in a housing which is filled with a coolant and has openings for the supply of the Has coolant on the outer surface of the strand, as well as a screen, which is arranged between the outer surface of the strand and the inner surface of the inductor and serves to distribute the electromagnetic field of the inductor in the axial direction.
Chill molds for the continuous and semicontinuous continuous casting of hollow strands and tubes are widely known and have been used for a long time and consist of a water-cooled housing of cylindrical shape and a housing of conical shape arranged coaxially in the central part thereof. These housings are filled with a coolant and have openings for the supply thereof to the outer and inner surface of the strand or pipe.
When using these molds, the liquid metal comes into direct contact with the inner surface of the cylindrical housing and with the outer surface of the conical housing, which leads to unevenness and liquid deposits on the outer and inner surface of hollow strands and tubes. As a result, the mechanical processing of hollow strands and tubes is required for their further use.
At present, an electromagnetic mold for continuous and semi-continuous casting has been created to improve the surface quality of strands (e.g.
SU copyright certificate No. 233 186). This mold contains an inductor, the electromagnetic field of which forms the surface of the strand encompassed by the inductor. The inductor is fixed in the cylindrical housing, which is filled with a coolant. The housing has openings for the supply of coolant to the strand surface.
A screen for distributing the electromagnetic field in the axial direction is provided between the inner surface of the inductor and the strand surface. The screen has a cavity for the coolant circulation.
However, the known electromagnetic mold cannot be used for casting hollow strands and tubes.
The present invention has for its object to provide an electromagnetic mold for the continuous and semi-continuous casting of hollow strands and tubes, which ensures their high quality and enables the casting of hollow strands and tubes in a wide range of external and internal dimensions.
This object is achieved in that an electromagnetic mold for continuous and semicontinuous continuous casting, containing an inductor, by means of whose electromagnetic field the outer surface of the strand is formed and which is fastened in a housing which is filled with a coolant and openings for the supply of the Has coolant on the outer surface of the strand, and a screen, which is arranged between the outer surface of the strand and the inner surface of the inductor and serves to distribute the electromagnetic field of the inductor in the axial direction, is provided according to the invention with an additional inductor, by the electromagnetic field of which Cavity of the strand is formed and which is arranged coaxially with the main inductor in an additional housing,
which is filled with a coolant and has openings for the supply of coolant to the inner surface of the strand, and has an additional screen, which is arranged between the inner surface of the strand and the outer surface of the additional inductor and for the distribution of the electromagnetic field of the additional inductor serves in the axial direction.
The main and the additional inductors are expediently formed in the electromagnetic mold for continuous and semi-continuous continuous casting as single-wind inductors with a ratio of the height of the main inductor to the height of the additional inductor in the range between 1, 2 and 3 and connected in series.
The proposed electromagnetic mold allows hollow strands and tubes of regular shape to be produced with a high surface quality.
The expedient design of the main and the additional inductor as single-winded inductors enables the production of hollow strands and tubes of regular shape because there is no deflection of the current flow at connection points of the turns, which results in an irregular distribution of the external electromagnetic field of the additional inductor on the outer circumference and of the inner electromagnetic field of the main inductor on the inner circumference, which causes the irregular shape of hollow strands.
A preferably 1, 2 to 3 times smaller height of the additional inductor than that of the main inductor ensures, depending on the strand size, the voltage equalization of the electromagnetic fields of the main and additional inductor connected in series, which is necessary for the following reasons.
The outer surface of the hollow strand is shaped by the inner electromagnetic field of the main inductor and the inner surface of the hollow strand by the outer electromagnetic field of the additional inductor. As is known, the outer electromagnetic field of the inductor is always weaker than the inner field at the same current. So show z. B.
Calculations and experimental investigations that with the same number of turns in the main and additional inductors and with the same current, the voltage of the
inner electromagnetic field of the main inductor is about 2 times larger than that of the outer electromagnetic field of the additional inductor. This means that the electromagnetic pressure, the size of which is proportional to the square of the voltage of the electromagnetic field and which acts on the outer surface of the hollow strand to be cast, is 4 times greater than the electromagnetic pressure which acts on the inner surface. The phenomenon mentioned is inadmissible because the hydrostatic pressure of the liquid metal column is the same on both its outer and inner surface, and the electromagnetic pressure difference will result in the liquid metal not being held on the inner surface of the hollow strand by the electromagnetic field. Thus, the strand cavity is not formed.
In order to increase the voltage of the external electromagnetic field of the additional inductor and consequently to ensure the same conditions for shaping the outer and inner surfaces of the product, the additional inductor can be of a height which is 1, 2 to 3 times smaller than the height of the main inductor is to be executed.
At the same time, it is possible, by changing the height of the additional inductor, to vary the voltage of its external electromagnetic field continuously and in a wide range corresponding to the internal electromagnetic field of the main inductor, and thereby to easily produce the hollow strands of the required dimensions. The said ratio of the inductor heights enables the casting of hollow strands with a ratio of the outside and the inside diameter, which is in the range from 1.1 to 10. In addition, the construction of the electromagnetic mold is simplified by the series connection of the main and the additional inductor.
The invention is explained below using an exemplary embodiment with reference to the drawing. Show it:
1 inventive electromagnetic mold for continuous and semi-continuous continuous casting, in longitudinal section,
Fig. 2 the same, in plan view.
The electromagnetic mold for continuous and semi-continuous continuous casting contains the cylindrical housing 1 (FIG. 1), which is made of plastic and is mounted on a base plate 3 by means of supports 2. In a ring recess of the inner wall of the housing 1, a single-winded inductor 4 is arranged, which is designed from a hollow copper bar of rectangular cross-section in the form of an unclosed ring. The inductor 4 is provided for shaping the outer surface 5 of the strand 6 by its internal electromagnetic field, which corresponds to the shape of the inductor 4.
In the wall of the housing 1, annular grooves 7, 8 are incorporated, which are connected to one another by throttle channels 9. The ring grooves 7, 8 are closed with a cover 10 from below and together with this form closed ring channels for the coolant circulation. To introduce the coolant into the housing 1, a nozzle 11 is provided, which is connected to the annular groove 7.
In the inner wall of the housing 1 openings 12 for the supply of the coolant, z. B.
Water, formed on the outer surface 5 of the hollow strand 6.
In the central part of the housing 1, a housing 13 of cylindrical shape is coaxially arranged vertically, in the middle part of which a conical section 14 is formed. The upper part 15 of the housing 13 is made of a dielectric, for. B.
made of plastic, and the lower part 16 of a non-magnetic metal, for. B. made of stainless steel.
In the cavity of the lower part 16 of the housing 13, a single-winded inductor 17 is arranged coaxially with the inductor 4, which inductor 17 is formed from a solid copper bar of rectangular cross section in the form of an unclosed ring. The inductor 17 is provided for shaping the inner surface 18 of the strand 6 by means of its external electromagnetic field, which corresponds to the shape of the inductor 17. The height of the inductor 17 is 1.7 times less than that of the inductor 4. The inductors 4 and 17 are connected in series by a bridge 19. One part 20 of the bridge 19, which is connected to the inductor 4 and is outside the housing 13, is for circulating the coolant, for. B. of water, executed as a hollow part of a rectangular profile.
The other part 21 of the bridge 19, which is connected to the inductor 17 and lies within the housing 13, is made of solid copper bar with a rectangular profile.
A current conductor rail 22 is connected to the inductor 17. Whose part 23 (Fig. 2), which is in the housing 13, is made of solid copper bar of rectangular profile. The other part 24 of the rail 22, which is outside the housing 13, is for circulating the coolant, for. B. water, made of hollow copper bar of rectangular profile.
A current conductor bar 25 is connected to the inductor 4, which is also made of hollow copper bar with a rectangular profile.
In the upper end wall of the housing 13 openings 26 (Fig. 1) are formed, which are connected to a nozzle 27 and for introducing the coolant, for. B. water, serve in the cavity of the housing 13. Openings 28 for introducing and distributing water over the inner surface 18 of the strand 6 are formed in the side walls of the lower part of the housing 13.
To distribute the inner electromagnetic field of the inductor 4 in the axial direction, a screen 29 is arranged between the outer surface 5 of the strand 6 and the inner surface of the inductor 4. The screen 29 is made of a non-magnetic metal, e.g. B. made of stainless steel. It has a longitudinal section which ensures the decrease in voltage of the internal electromagnetic field of the inductor 4 in the upper part of the screen 29. A cavity 30 for water circulation is provided in the screen 29. The screen 29 is fastened to the housing 1 by means of adjustable supports 31, which enable its vertical adjustment along the strand 6.
The conical section 14 of the housing 13 serves as a screen for distributing the external electromagnetic field of the inductor 17 in the axial direction.
To carry out the casting process, a base 32 which corresponds to the shape of the strand 6 is set up on the table of a casting installation (not shown in FIG. 1).
The electromagnetic mold for continuous and semi-continuous continuous casting works as follows.
Before the start of the casting process, the base 32 is inserted into the cavity formed by the inductors 4 and 17. An electrical current is let through the inductors 4 and 17 connected in series.
Then water is supplied to the outer and inner surfaces of the base 32 from the housings 1 and 13 through the openings 12 and 28 and the liquid metal is applied to the upper end face of the immobile base 32.
The inner electromagnetic field of the inductor 4 and the outer electromagnetic field of the inductor 17 generate Foucault eddy currents in the liquid metal. The interaction of the eddy currents with the corresponding electromagnetic fields of the inductors 4 and 17 creates electromagnetic forces in the liquid metal, by means of which the outer surface 5 and the inner surface 18 of the strand 6 are formed.
The 1.7 times smaller height of the inductor 17 than that of the inductor 4 ensures the compensation of the forces of their electromagnetic fields, by which the outer surface 5 and the inner surface 18 of the strand 6 are formed. At the same time, by using the indentations inductors 4 and 17 in the proposed mold, the deflection of the current flow is eliminated, which leads to the uneven distribution of the outer electromagnetic field of the inductor 17 on its outer circumference and the inner electromagnetic field of the inductor 4 on its inner circumference leads. This allows the surface quality of the cast strand 6 to be improved.
After reaching the predetermined height by the liquid metal column, which is formed by the electromagnetic fields of the inductors 4 and 17 to the strand 6, the base 32 begins to go down. The coolant, optionally water, which is supplied from the housings 1, 13 through the openings 12, 28 to the outer surface 5 and the inner surface 18 of the strand 6, ensures its solidification.
