Abstract

For the purpose of improving the morphological analysis of particles, the apparatus comprises an optical system (12) for scanning a field (14) containing a sample of blood cells (16) deposited in a thin layer (18) on a glass (20). The layer (18) is coloured in order to bring out the morphological components and is illuminated by a light source (11), a light ray (24) passing through a prism (26), being divided into three rays (28a, 28b, 28c), each of which passes through a coloured filter (30a, 30b, 30c) in order to hit photomultipliers (32a, 32b, 32c) and finally to act on A/D converters (38a, 38b, 38c) emitting series signals (A', B', C'). It is used for the automatic analysis of blood and in particular for determining the relative concentrations of leucocytes. <IMAGE>
