Abstract

To prepare dark 1/2 chromium-bearing complexes which, in acidic form, are denoted by the formula (I) <IMAGE> in which X denotes a hydrogen atom or a nitro group, Y1 denotes a hydrogen atom, Y2 denotes a methoxy group or, provided that X is a hydrogen atom, forms with Y1 a chain sequence -CH=CH-CH=CH-, the 1/1 chromium-bearing complex of [5-nitro-2-hydroxybenzene]-<1 azo 4 >-[3-methyl-1-phenyl-5-hydroxypyrazole] is reacted in alkaline medium with a compound of formula (II) <IMAGE> in which X, Y1 and Y2 have the same meanings as above and Z denotes a hydroxyl group. It is also possible to react in alkaline medium the 1/1 chromium-bearing complex of a compound of formula (II), it being possible in this case for Z to denote also a methoxy group, with [5-nitro-2-hydroxybenzene]-<1 azo 4>-[1-methyl-5-hydroxypyrazole].
