Abstract

The conveyor comprises two flexible belts which are impermeable to fluids. Over a common portion, the belts are pressed against each other in order to constitute a transport segment. Sheaths (36, 38), mounted on either side of the transport segment, cover the major part of the rear of the respective belts. Only the edges of the belts exceed laterally from the sheaths (36, 38). The edges of the sheaths (36, 38) comprise flexible lips (40) for ensuring the seal between the rear of the belts and the associated sheaths. The sheaths are connected to a source (44) of pressurised fluid. The pressure applies the belts against each other, about the material to be transported. Rollers (46) grip the edges of the belt together. This conveyor may be used for transporting crushed stone. <IMAGE>
