Fig. 6 zeigt ein Ausführungsbeispiel mit untergelegtem Zusatzstreifen 341.

10. Screen printing stencil tape according to claim 1, characterized in that the marginal edge of the screen printing stencil tape is shaped or cut parallel to the register crosses of the print pattern, such that the marginal edge of the screen printing stencil tape (4) can be scanned by reading elements of a control device for the running of the screen printing stencil tape.
The invention relates to a screen printing stencil tape which is guided over rollers in the printing unit of a screen printing machine without guide parts.
In the case of screen printing stencils, in particular screen printing stencil tapes, the main drawback is that the edges of the stencils tear very easily during operation, in the machine, when washing, when removing and installing the screen printing stencils, especially screen printing stencil tapes. With normal screen printing stencils that are held in a frame and are referred to as flat stencils, this does not play such an essential role, since the frame protects the edges, and is only useful for repair work and the like. Like. Or noticeable during the initial assembly, even with so-called rotary stencils in which end rings are present, this disadvantage only plays a role during assembly or repair work; however, in the case of screen printing stencil tapes, which are free over rollers, drums and the like. like
are guided, the sensitive edge is a significant wear problem. Since stencil tapes run under tension in printing machines, the z. B. occurring during installation cracks very quickly during operation.
A tape that has been torn, like a normal woven fabric made of textile material, continues to tear very quickly. The wear time for screen printing stencil tapes is therefore relatively short, and working with large stencils can be relatively unprofitable due to this short wear time.
Another disadvantage is that if the screen printing stencil tape is scanned laterally in its course by monitoring devices, the cracks become noticeable when overflowing or passing through the monitoring device, so that control errors can occur that lead to considerable rejects, since the screen printing stencil tape is reversed in its course and the side repeat is shifted as a result. In addition, an electromechanical monitoring device can be destroyed by damaged edge edges. Since these are always sensitive devices that are relatively expensive, this can also result in an increased cost factor when operating a screen printing machine.
Screen printing stencil tapes generally consist of a metal mesh, whereby the crossing points of weft and warp can be connected to one another by electroplating. However, attempts have already been made to make screen printing stencils from other materials, for example silk or very thin sheet metal. In the case of the latter, the perforations are made by laser beams in the central area, i.e. in the printing area, and the unperforated edge areas are somewhat more stable than metal mesh. The sheet metal is so thin and sensitive that the stencil can also tear here.
The invention is thus based on the object of designing screen printing stencil tapes regardless of the type of production in such a way that the risk of cracking in the edge area is avoided.
The invention consists in that one of the marginal edges of the screen printing stencil tape is reinforced.
The reinforcement of at least one of the marginal edges already brings considerable advantages in terms of the ability to control the stencil by edge scanner u. Like. Optical monitoring devices can also be provided which read the reinforced edge. It is advantageous, however, to reinforce both edges of the stencil so that the screen printing stencil tape no longer tears during operation, when washing, or when removing and installing it and not only improves the monitoring accuracy of the screen printing stencil tape, but also significantly increases the wear time.
Another very important idea of the invention is that at least one of the edge edges of the template is stabilized by edge welding. Again, it is more advantageous to stabilize both marginal edges with an edge weld, the edge edges either being stabilized with a welded strip made of thermoplastic material or the edge edges of the stencil being enclosed by a strip made of thermoplastic material that encompasses the edge. The folded strip is welded to itself through the template.
The welding or welding of thermoplastics, polyurethane, PVC etc. The like. Is cheap and easy to manufacture and has an enormous effect in terms of stabilization and also the possibility of better scanning by monitoring devices. You could put metal strips, gauze or even stencil material on the edge area of the stencil or the reinforcement strips the edge of the
Enclose the template. The gauze can also be welded into the plastic. The reinforcement strip can be connected to the template by gluing or welding.
The marginal edge of the stencil must be cut or shaped in such a way that it fits the print pattern present on the stencil and a control device can serve as a reading element, which acts on the control devices for the movement of the stencil. The edge can be cut to match the pattern exactly.
In the drawings, an embodiment of the invention is shown.
Show it:
1 shows the diagram of one end of a printing station with a screen printing stencil tape,
2 and 3 show diagrams of edge reinforcements of a screen printing stencil tape,
4 to 9 exemplary embodiments in schematic cross-section of edge reinforcements.
In Fig. 1, the stand of the screen printing machine is denoted by 1 and a side bearing of the printing unit 2 by 3. The design of the screen printing machine can be varied and need not be as shown. In the printing unit 2, a screen printing stencil band 4 runs over three rollers 20, 21 and 22, of which the upper roller is designed as a tensioning and regulating roller. A doctor roller 23 presses ink through the screen printing stencil tape onto the goods 5, which are lying on a driven printing blanket 6. The drive of the printing unit 2 is indicated by dashed lines in the figure.
In the exemplary embodiment shown, the screen printing stencil tape consists of a wire mesh, in which there is the possibility of fixing the points of intersection between warp and weft in relation to one another by electroplating. However, it can also be a completely different material, it does not necessarily have to be a wire mesh.
The marginal edges 40 are extremely endangered when the screen printing stencil tape 4 is stretched and pulled over the roller triangle consisting of the rollers 20, 21, 22 and can tear very easily. Once they are torn, they tear very easily further when the upper roller 22 with its bearings 24 is raised and tension is applied to the screen printing stencil tape. In addition, there is a disadvantage that with optical reading of the edge with regard to the running of the screen printing stencil tape and adjustment of the upper tensioning and regulating roller 22 in its running position, cracks affect such a reading device (not shown) and the screen printing stencil tape is incorrectly controlled in its running direction. This can lead to misprints on the goods 5.
According to the invention, the screen printing stencil tape 4 is accordingly reinforced at least on one of its marginal edges. The reinforcement is indicated at 41 in the drawing. It will always be a reinforcement strip. This reinforcement strip 41 can be attached in a variety of ways. This is shown in FIGS. 2 to 9. As can be seen in FIG. 2, the reinforcing strip 41 can consist of a thermoplastic plastic strip 141 which encompasses the edge 40 of the template 4 and which can be folded and welded to itself through the template 4. In Fig. 2 the moment is shown before the welding, in Fig. 5 the moment after the welding.
The edge strip can be folded over evenly or unevenly so that a gradual transition from the material of the plastic edge strip 141 to the material of the screen printing stencil 4 takes place during an advance 241.
Furthermore, such an edge strip can only be placed on the screen printing stencil tape 4 and welded into it. As can be seen from FIG. 3, the strip is wrapped around the weft and warp threads of the screen printing stencil and at the same time more or less fills the intermediate material.
4 shows an exemplary embodiment in which an additional strip of any material is placed on the side area of the template 4 and is then connected to the template 4 with the template with a possible interposition of a heat-sealable film, an adhesive or the like. The heat-sealable film is denoted by 42 in the drawing.
FIG. 5 again shows the plastic reinforcing strip 141 which is placed around the edge.
6 shows an exemplary embodiment with an additional strip 341 underneath.
7 shows an embodiment in which a plastic wire is placed on the edge area of the stencil 4, possibly even at a distance from the edge 40 and at least partially flowed into the material of the screen printing stencil through the action of heat.
8 shows an embodiment in which the warp threads 441 are made of thermoplastic material, that is to say a heat-sealable plastic wire. These warp threads in the edge area are denoted by 441 in the drawing. After the screen printing stencil 4 has been woven in this way, there is the possibility of connecting the warp threads 441 to the metal weft threads of the screen printing stencil by applying heat, for example also by steam.
9 shows an exemplary embodiment in which the screen printing stencil is coated in the area of its edge 40 with a material that prevents the risk of tearing, for example coated or dipped in a tough elastic plastic material or in a latex material. The material lies between the warp and the weft and forms a catchment pad here. The material is indicated at 541 in the drawing.
As the various exemplary embodiments show, the concept of the invention can be varied in many ways.
