Abstract

The device is provided with a light source incorporated in a light guide placed behind the display cell and having parallel striations (7). The side (8) of lesser slope of each striation is covered with a two-sided mirror, the other side (10) being transparent. The posterior face is tiered (12) where the material of the guide encloses metallic or non-metallic reflecting particles, the whole being such as to reflect by day the maximum light in a direction of around 30 DEG with respect to the normal (14). By night, the light source sends the maximum light in the direction of the normal (16). This device is designed mainly for an electronic watch. <IMAGE>
