Abstract

The device comprises a display cell (1, 2, 3) behind which is situated a lighting device itself comprising a light guide (5) in transparent material. Inorganic and opaque diffusing particles (6) are distributed in the material of the light guide in order to improve the diffusing effect of the latter. An additional diffuser (8) whose diffusing effect is greater than that of the light guide is inserted between the latter and the display cell. This additional diffuser improves reading in daylight.
