Produkte gewöhnlich vorliegen, antimikrobielle Eigenschaf ten entwickelt.

Zirkular Nr. 198, 1931. The present invention relates to a new antimicrobial les or antibacterial cleaning agent, which is particularly suitable for cleaning toilet bowls, since it is at the extremely low dilutions that occur when using them
Products usually present with antimicrobial properties developed.
Formulations that automatically detergent and
Dispensing cleaning aids into the toilet bowl has been on the market for many years. The prevention of growth or reproduction of microorganisms was difficult to achieve with products of this type. The difficulties are due to the fact that most of the antimicrobial
Agents are ineffective at the extreme dilutions at which automatic toilet bowl cleaners are used.
Recently, a new antimicrobial agent, the compound 5-chloro-242,4-dichlorophenoxy) phenol, was disclosed by U.S. Patent 3,506,720. Data has been published by the patentee (Irgasan DP-300, publication DC-25) indicating that the least inhibiting
The concentration of 5-chloro-2- (2,4-dichlorophenoxy) phenol for S.aureus and P.mirabillis is 1 ppm and for E.coli 3 ppm.
It has now been found that z. B. when using 5-chloro-2 (2,4-dichlorophenoxy) phenol as an antimicrobial agent together with isopropanol, an alkoxylated primary fatty alcohol and / or a linear alkylarylsulfonate, in conjunction with known dyes and perfumes, a cleaning agent is obtained which at Concentrations of only 0.1 per million for a solid cleaning agent and 0.2 per million for a liquid formulation exerts bacteriostatic properties against S. aureus, P. mirabillis and E. coli.
The antibacterial or antimicrobial cleaning agent according to the invention is now characterized in that it contains 5-chloro-242,4-dichlorophenoxyfphenol and an alkoxylated primary fatty alcohol and / or a linear alkyl aryl sulfonate salt as the active ingredient.
The agent according to the invention can be in solid as well as in liquid form.
The ethyl ethers of an alcohol contained in the preferred solid compositions can be obtained by reacting an appropriate alcohol with ethylene oxide.
Preferred liquid formulations according to the invention contain: constituent 0! O isopropanol 10-20 5-chloro-242,4-dichlorophenoxy) phenol 0.5-6 alkoxylated primary fatty alcohol 0.1-20 linear alkyl aryl sulfonate salt 0.5-20 Sodium hydroxide 0-2 water, dye, perfume sufficient for 100/0
The preferred composition of an effective liquid cleaning agent with bacteriostatic properties is as follows: Ingredient 0 / w isopropanol 14-16 5-chloro-22,4dichlorophenoxy) phenol 1.1-1.6 alkoxylated primary fatty alcohol 4-17 linear alkyl aryl sulfonate, salt 0.5-10, water, dye, perfume sufficient for 10001o
Preferred solid formulations according to the invention contain:
: Ingredient weight plo 5-chloro-2 (2,4-dichlorophenoxyYphenol 1-3 (97% minimum activity) alkoxylated primary fatty alcohol 0.1-10 ethoxylated alcohol 20-90 polyethylene glycol 0.1-10 sodium sulfate, perfume, color sufficient for 100%
A preferred formulation of an effective solid cleaning and bacteriostatic agent is as follows: Ingredients% by weight 5-chloro-2- (2,4-dichlorophenoxy) phenol 1-3 (97% minimum activity) alkoxylated primary fatty alcohol 2-8 ethoxylated alcohol 25-35 polyethylene glycol 2-8 sodium sulfate, perfume, dye sufficient for 100
Examples of alkoxylated primary alcohols which can be used in the compositions according to the invention are the alkoxylated primary alcohols with alkyl chain lengths of 12-18 carbon atoms.
For the usable linear alkylarylsulfonate salts which can be used in the inventive agent, for. B. the salts of an alkylarylsulfonate with a chain length of the alkyl portion of 1-15 carbon atoms. The solid formulations preferably contain an ethoxylated alcohol in which the chain length of the primary alcohol has 16-20 carbon atoms. In addition to the cleaning action and bacteriostatic action which the agents according to the invention exert, they also have the ability to reduce the surface tension of the water.
As can be seen from the following examples, the liquid formulations according to the invention show bacteriostatic properties at use concentrations of only 0.2 ppm. The solid formulations exhibit bacteriostatic properties at use levels as low as 0.1 ppm. The examples also show that the antimicrobial agents proposed heretofore are either ineffective, or are not admixed or solubilized well or effectively.
The bacteria used as test organisms in the following examples are representative of gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria. The agar plate test and the agar dish plate test were used as test methods, see U.S.D.A. Circular No. 198, 1931. The results are given in millimeters of the zones of inhibition.
