The invention relates to a children's feeding bottle which has a liquid container, a teat that can be attached to the container, a detachable protective cap enclosing the teat before use, and a closure member by which the inside of the container is separated from the inside of the teat before use.
The aim is to create a feeding bottle which is hygienic and easy to use and which can also be manufactured so cheaply that it can be economically justified to throw it away after use.
The children's feeding bottle according to the invention is characterized in that the closure member is provided with a plug which sits in a sealing manner inside the nipple before use and is supported by means of a radial flange on the edge of the container mouth, that the flange is elastically deformed by external force application by means of a protective cap and nipple of the edge is movable into the interior of the container.
The invention will now be described, for example, with reference to the accompanying drawing, the only figure of which is a vertical section of a child's feeding bottle in the sealed state.
The illustrated feeding bottle has a container 10 with an opening 11 which is surrounded by a frustoconical seat 12. The seat is formed on the outer surface of an enlarged mouth part of the container, which is defined by a narrow neck part 13. The surface of the seat 12 is provided with annular ribs 14. A flange 15 of a suction cup 16 interacts with the seat surface 12.
In the state shown, the teat is somewhat elastically deformed, as will be described below. The flange 15 is formed by an outwardly expanding part at one end of the teat and the other end is arched and provided with a single outlet 17. This outlet 17 is in the form of a slot in the middle of the end of the teat.
In order to keep the nipple bottle 15 in tight engagement with the seat 12 of the container 10, a fastening part 18 is provided. The fastening part has a frustoconical inner surface which corresponds to the outer surface of the seat 12 and contains ribs 19 which are similar to those of the seat 12. The ribs 14 and 19 tend to deform the nipple flange 15 so that it is held firmly in place in sealing engagement with the seat 12. The fastening part 18 has an annular, rear-engaging flange 20 which engages under the part of the container 10 on which the seat 12 is formed. So that the fastening part 18 can be applied to the container, the flange 20 engaging behind is beveled as shown.
Both the container 10 and the fastening part 18 are made of an elastic material to enable these parts to be snap-connected, as will be described below.
The fastening part 18 forms one piece with a protective cap 21. These parts 18, 21 are connected to one another by an annular, thin predetermined breaking area 22. This area 22, if it is intact, prevents dirt from entering the suction device 16. The fastening part 18 and the cap 21 with the area 22 are advantageously produced from plastic in a deformation process, and the predetermined breaking area 22 has sufficient strength for normal handling endurable during transport and storage of the feeding bottle, but it can be broken if necessary.
The area 22 is broken through in that the cap 21 is pushed away to the side with the fingers.
In the lower region 23, the cap 21 lies tightly against the outer surface of the teat 16. This tight fit is produced by a closure member 24 which, in the sealing state shown in FIG. 1, acts as a plug with a generally cylindrical outer shape. The edge parts of this plug are, however, slightly conical, but the diameter of the cylindrical area thereof is long enough to exert pressure on the area 23 of the teat.
The closure member 24 is advantageously made of plastic in one piece. It has a flange 25 on which several support lugs 26 are located. At the lower end of the closure member there are four projections 27. The edges thereof are curved, and they define between them four zones through which liquid stored in the interior of the container 10 can flow into the interior of the nipple 16 when the feeding bottle has been made ready for use .
The support lugs 26 and the projections 27 provide means for supporting the closure member 24 in a position in the narrow neck portion 13 of the container. The outside diameter of the flange 25 is somewhat larger than the opening 11 of the container 10. The edge of the flange 25 is rounded and it is possible to push the flange through the opening 11. However, once it has passed through the opening, the flange no longer emerges to the outside.
In the sealing state shown in the drawing, the edge of the cap 21 lies above the flange 25, and the teat 16 is compressed in the area 29 between this edge of the cap 21 and the flange 25 of the closure member 24.
This provides a handle so that the closure member 24 can be pressed down between the position shown and a standby position by finger pressure.
The container 10, the teat 16, the protective cap 21, the fastening part 18 and the closure member 24 all have an oval cross-sectional area. The length dimensions of the oval cross-sections are also aligned with one another. The slot 17 forming the outlet from the suction cup 16 runs in the direction of the length dimensions of the oval cross-sections of the parts mentioned.
Manipulations for putting the feeding bottle into use include the following. In the sealed state, the predetermined breaking area 22 connects the parts 18 and 21. The separation of the parts 21 and 18 from one another is brought about by the application of lateral pressure on the cap 21. During this actuation, the closure member 24 is also moved into a position in which its flange 25 passes through the opening 11 in the container so that the support lugs 26 and projections 27 rest on the narrow neck part 13 of the container. This process has been carried out with the protective cap 21 still covering the teat 16.
The protective cap 21 can then be removed from the suction device 16. In practice, the first operation, namely the pressing of the closure member 24 into the interior of the container 10 can be carried out at a point remote from the place of use of the Saugfla cal; however, the cap 21 remains placed over the nipple 16 until the feeding bottle is actually used. Just before
The cap 21 is then removed during use.
By removing the cap 21, the teat
16 straighten up elastically. The closure member 24 can then no longer easily penetrate through the opening 11 into the container 10; but if this happened once, it would be for that
Closure member 24 impossible to re-enter the interior of the nipple, since a compression of the nipple takes place during entry and the closure member 24 has insufficient weight to allow such a compression force. Thus, completely reliable working of the feeding bottle is achieved both during preparation for use and during actual use.
The method of assembling the components is as follows: First, the nipple 16 is inserted into the cap 21 with which the fastening part 18 is formed in one piece. Next, the closure member 24 is inserted into the interior of the teat, for which a certain pressure is necessary. Finally, this entire unit is fastened on top of the container 10 by the aforementioned snap lock, which is reached by the flange 20 engaging behind.
In order to replace the snap closure obtained by the rear-engaging flange 20 of the fastening part 18, other means for fastening the fastening part to the container 10 can be used. Welding or the use of adhesives constitute such other fastening methods.
The provision of a design with an oval cross-section together with a slot as the outlet 17 from the suction device 16 has certain advantages. The slot 17 forms a means for regulating the amount of drink that occurs during sucking, and the oval cross-section of the feeding bottle allows the correct orientation of the slot 17 with respect to the child's mouth to be easily recognized.
The provision of an oval teat 16 also has the advantage that the dipping process with hot rubber milk makes it possible to produce a greater number of teats at the same time than is possible with teats with a circular cross section. In this process, the suction cups are manufactured in rows supported on support rails. With suction cups with an oval cross section, a greater number of such suction cups can be arranged on a rail than would be possible with suction cups with a circular cross section.
