la fig. 1 représente en coupe schématique la région du bassin d'une vache et illustre en particulier l'utilisation d'un pistolet d'insémination;
la fig. 2 représente, en coupe diamétrale et avec arrachements, une sonde conforme à l'invention;
A l'extré
The present invention relates to a method and a marking probe for training in the placement of an artificial insemination gun for animals, and in particular for cattle.
In fact, the ongoing training and regular retraining of insemination technicians oblige those in charge of insemination centers to have them practice training exercises several times a year.
It is known that the act of artificial insemination consists in placing in a precise place in the reproductive organs of female animals, a dose of diluted semen sufficient to trigger gestation.
The techniques of collecting, freezing, thawing and conditioning semen practiced in the laboratories are absolutely perfected and cannot be subject to variations.
It is different with the insemination operation itself, which can be carried out on farms by technicians in a hurry or poorly informed; the results are thus very variable and, as a result, when they are too low, entail considerable losses for farmers who deplore too great delays or even a total lack of fertilization.
Marking probes are already known for training in artificial insemination, these probes in the form of injection guns which make it possible to inject methylene blue into females which must be sacrificed within the following minutes. , for example for the needs of the butcher's shop in the case of cows.
However, methylene blue, which must be deposited in a specific place inside the matrix, is quickly absorbed by living tissue and sometimes spreads over a great length. It is often very difficult to find the exact point of deposit when the animal is slaughtered after 1 / h and it is, for example, suspended vertically by a paw on handling hooks.
This is why the object of the invention is to provide a method and a labeling probe making it possible to replace the mark of methylene blue by a more precise mark, less extensive, very visible and inerasable.
To this end, the method which is the subject of the invention is characterized in that it consists in practicing, by cauterization, a mark in the uterus of an animal, using a marking probe constituted by a cautery electric elongated.
Thus, when the operator thinks he has correctly positioned the probe, he orders the sending into the cautery element of a current sufficient to bring this element to a very high temperature, and this for a very short time. The membranes touched and cauterized at this precise moment by the heating element of the probe are marked in a highly visible and indelible manner. The animal shows no symptoms of pain and absolutely does not react, even to a burn lasting several seconds. All the technician's checks, by those responsible for his training, training or retraining, can be carried out without risk for several hours and even several days after marking, which greatly facilitates the work. It is believed, using this marking process, to increase the fertilization percentage by 2 or 3% in one year.
The subject of the invention is also a marking probe for implementing the method according to the invention, comprising a first and a second conductive part of elongated and parallel shape, separated by an insulating part, two current supply conductors electrically connected to these two conductive parts at one of their ends, means for closing the circuit formed by these supply conductors and the two conductive parts, and a marking cautery arranged in series in said circuit, characterized in that the second conductive part is mounted to slide relative to the first in their main direction, the circuit closing means comprising a contact between the two conductive parts at their end opposite to the supply conductors.
Thanks to this probe, the operator must, in order to close the electrical circuit and send the current to the marking cautery, move the sliding conductive part like a piston, and he is thus brought to reproduce the injection movement. that represents the insemination operation. This probe thus makes it possible to fully simulate the insemination operation and therefore facilitates operator training.
Other advantages of the invention will emerge from the description which follows of two embodiments of the invention given by way of examples and with reference to the appended drawings in which:
fig. 1 shows in schematic section the pelvis region of a cow and in particular illustrates the use of an insemination gun;
fig. 2 shows, in diametral section and with cutaways, a probe in accordance with the invention;
fig. 3 shows in diametral section and with cutouts, an alternative embodiment of the probe of FIG. 2.
As shown in fig. 1, the classic artificial insemination of cattle is carried out using a gun I which comprises a hollow tubular body 2, one end of which has a gripping head 3, while at the other end it can receive a straw 4 containing semen. Inside this body, can slide a rod 5 which also has an operating head 6. The operator introduces the gun inside the vagina 7 of the animal, then passes the neck 8 of the animal through its end. the matrix in order to have this end about 5 mm inside the uterus 9 after the cervix has come out. He controls this placement by palpation using a hand introduced into the rectum of the animal.
When he thinks that the end of the gun is correctly positioned, he holds it with the same hand through the interior walls, while with the other hand he actuates the maneuvering head 6 whose rod ejects. then, by means of its sealing buffer, the seed contained in the straw 4.
The marking probe of fig. 2 comprises a first conductive part constituted by a hollow tubular body 11 of stainless steel, and a second conductive part 13 housed axially inside this tubular body with the interposition of a sheath of insulating material 14. The inner part 13 is formed by a stainless steel rod which projects at one end outside the body 11 and the sheath 14. This end of the rod is fixed inside an operating handle 20 made of material.
insulating, just as the corresponding end of the body 11 is fixed inside a similar handle 12, also of insulating material. Conductive connectors 26 housed in these handles 20 and 12 connect the rod 13 and the tubular body 11 to two supply conductors 15 and 16, themselves connected to a battery 17.
A compression spring 27 is arranged around the rod 13, one of its ends being fixed to the handle 12,
while the other faces the handle 20, and a needle screw 28 passes radially through the handle 12 so that its end contacts and can clamp the tubular body there. At the end
mity opposite, the tubular body 11 receives, by fitting on
an outer shoulder 23, a head 22 constituted by a pointed ogive
thin wall whose shape extends and closes the tubular body there.
This warhead is, for example, formed by ferrotungsten. The
length of the rod 13 is such that, as shown in FIG. 2 in
solid lines, when the operating handle 20 is moved closer
more possible of the handle 12, the spring 27 being completely
crushed, the opposite end 18 of the rod 13 comes into contact with
inside the head 22.
The operation of the labeling probe thus described is the
following. The operator sets up the probe by arranging the body 11 of the latter in the way that he would with the body 2 of the insemination gun of FIG. 1. When he considers that the head 22 is correctly positioned, the tensioning is obtained by bringing the handle 20 closer to the handle 12, with compression of the spring 27, until the end of the rod 13 comes. in contact with the head 22 which is then brought to a very high temperature, for example from 800 to 9000 C, that is to say to red. The head 22 must be kept by the operator strictly still in the uterus, despite the push exerted on the operating handle 20. The resistance to the push can be adjusted using the needle screw 28 which comes s' press on the tubular body 11.
Once the marking has been made, the operator slightly releases the handle 20 which is pushed back, under the action of the spring 27, by a small distance, but sufficient so that there is no longer any contact between the end 18 of the rod and the head 22. Once the probe has been moved away from the animal, the operator can, for the next operation, still pull the rod 13 out of the body 11 until the handle 20 is located at a distance from the handle 12 approximately equal to the travel 1 that the operating handle 6 of the insemination gun of FIG. 1 to fully eject the contents of the straw 4. This position, shown in phantom in FIG. 2, is for example fixed using a mark carried on the rod 13.
The trace left by the probe allows the training technician or his instructor to verify not only that the probe head has been placed in the correct place, but also that the pushing movement has been executed in a correct way. suitable, without sliding the marking head 22. This marking probe thus makes it possible to completely simulate the actual insemination operation, this probe having a structure similar to that of an insemination gun and its use having to check the same conditions for placing the tip and a well-executed push.
The marking probe of fig. 3 is generally similar to that of FIG. 2. It comprises a first conductive part consisting of a hollow tubular body 111 of stainless steel and a second conductive part 113 housed axially inside this tubular body with the interposition of a sheath of insulating material 114. The inner part 113 is constituted by a stainless steel rod which projects at one end outside the body 111 and the sheath 114. This end of the rod is fixed inside an operating handle 120 made of insulating material, as is the corresponding end of the body 111 is fixed inside a similar handle 112, also of insulating material.
Conductive couplings 126 housed in these handles 120 and 112 connect the rod 113 and the tubular body 111 to two supply conductors 115 and 116 which are themselves connected to a battery 117. A compression spring 127 is arranged around the rod 113 , one of its ends being fixed to the handle 112 while the other faces the handle 120, and a needle screw 128 passes radially through the handle 112 so that its end comes into contact and can clamp the tubular body 111.
At its end opposite the handles 112 and 120, the marking probe receives a removable tubular end piece 51. For this purpose, the tubular body 111 comprises, on the side opposite to the handle 112, an end portion 52 threaded internally and having a internal diameter greater than the internal diameter of the tubular body 111, so as to receive at this end a connection sleeve 53 made of stainless steel. This connection sleeve 53 is of tubular shape and externally threaded, and it has dans.sa median part an annular shoulder 54, of radial dimensions identical to those of the tubular body 111, which comes to rest against the end portion 55 of the tubular body 111 when the sleeve 53 is screwed into the end part 52.
The tubular body 111 and the annular shoulder 54 of the connection sleeve 53 are extended by a tube 56 of insulating material, for example soapstone, which is screwed onto the sleeve 53 to bear against the other face of the annular shoulder 54. The insulating tube 56 is internally threaded over its entire length and it extends the tubular body 111 beyond the end of the insulating sheath 114. At its free end, the insulating tube 56 is closed by a head of 'end 57 made of stainless steel constituted by a screw whose threaded part 58 is received inside the insulating tube 56 and whose head 59 has the shape of a solid cap which extends and closes the insulating tube 56.
Finally, a wire 60 made of a material of very high electrical resistivity, for example ferrotungsten, is wound in a spiral around the insulating tube 56, the ends of this wire 60 being wedged respectively against the connecting sleeve 53 and against the head of end 57, or else welded to these two parts. The length of the rod 113 is such that, when the operating handle 120 is brought as close as possible to the handle 112, the spring 127 being completely crushed, the opposite end 118 of the rod 113 comes into contact with the edge of the rod. end 61 of the threaded portion 58 of the end head 57.
In its use for the labeling of animals, the operation of the probe described above is identical to that of the probe described with reference to FIG. 2 and its description will not be repeated. It will simply be noted that during this operation, the ferrotungsten wire 60 is brought to very high temperatures which can cause, for example, it to break. In this case, it suffices to disassemble the removable tip 51 by unscrewing the sleeve 53 from the tubular body 111 and to replace it with a tip 51 in good condition to restore the marking probe to working order, which prevents any immobilization of the device. probe for repair. It will also be noted that the various constituent parts of the removable nozzle 51 are assembled with each other by screwing, which makes it possible to replace any defective part very easily.
However, instead of being screwed, the sleeve 53 and the head 57 can be assembled with the insulating tube 56 by any other means, for example by gluing with enamel in the oven or by crimping, which allows the use of glass instead of soapstone for the insulating tube 56 and to significantly facilitate the manufacture of the parts for the end piece 51.
In the embodiment of FIG. 2, the greater resistance of the marking element, tube 22, could be obtained, for example, with a material of less thickness, but in which a certain number of openings would be made.
