The invention relates to a zipper in which the actual closure parts are attached to two woven bands. Zippers of this type have always been sewn on until now.
The object of the invention is to create a zipper that can be ironed on instead of sewn on.
According to the invention, this object can be achieved with a zip fastener which is characterized in that thermoplastic hot-seal threads are woven into at least one of these tapes in such a way that this tape can be attached to a piece of fabric by ironing.
The heat-sealing threads can be woven into one or both bands and be contained either in the warp or in the weft or in the warp and weft.
Some possibilities for the fabric are shown in the drawing. The thermoplastic hot-seal threads are shown by dotted lines, the textile threads by solid lines. In Fig. La a part of a chain is shown, which alternately contains a heat seal thread and a textile thread. FIG. 1b shows schematically how alternately a textile and a hot-seal weft thread is woven in, and FIG. 1c shows the fabric produced in this way.
The desired amount of plastic and thus the bond strength can be influenced by weaving in a freely selectable sequence of textile threads and heat-sealing threads. Thus, a fabric according to FIG. 2c contains fewer and according to FIG. 3c more heat-sealing threads than the fabric according to FIG. 1c.
The fabric according to FIG. 2c contains twice more textile threads than heat-seal threads in both the warp (FIG. 2a) and in the weft (FIG. 2b).
The fabric according to FIG. 3c, on the other hand, contains twice more heat-sealing threads than textile threads in the warp (FIG. 3a) as in the weft (FIG. 3b).
Monofilament and multifilament threads can be used as heat seal threads. You can, for example, made of polyethylene, polyester, polyamide, terpolyamide, polyurethane, etc.
be made. The thread thickness can vary from 0.05-0.3 mm, but is preferably 0.15 mm. A terpolyamide thread No. 5000 Schaettifix (brand name) from Schaetti & Co, Wallisellen, has proven to be particularly suitable for weaving.
As already mentioned, the fabric can also be designed with a warp that contains textile and heat-seal threads arranged alternately or in a different sequence, while only textile threads are used as weft threads. It is also conceivable that the warp consists of nothing but textile threads, while textile and hot-seal threads are used alternately or in a different sequence as weft threads.
