Das vorliegende endlose Band für Zigarettenmaschinen vereinigt in sich zwei Eigenschaften und stellt auf Grund dieser Vereinigung das Vollkommenste dar, was bisher in derartigen endlosen Bändern geschaffen worden ist. Der Fachmann weiss, dass an derartige Binder ganz erhebliche Anforderungen gestellt werden. Das Band soll fest und dauerhaft, dabei aber auch von einer gewissen Schmiegsamkeit sein : insbesondere sollen sich die Randteile des Bandes ohne erhebliches Auftragen und unter Vermeidung einer im . < ga- rettenpapier abgedrUckten Kante oder Naht überlappen oder zur Röhre zusammenschliessen können. Unter keinen Umständen darf das Band der Länge nach von ungleicher Dicke sein, wie es bei den ursprünglich nicht endlosen und unter Überlappung der Enden zusammengeklebten oder zusammengenähten Bändern der Fall ist.
Das vorliegende Band ist der Kette nach endlos gewebt (unter Eintragen des Schusses bei der Vollendung von Hand mittels geeigneter Werkzeuge). Dabei ist es aber auch vermöge verschieden dichter Anordnung der Kettfäden derart gewebt, dass der Mittelteil stärker (dichter) ist als die seitlichen oder Randteile. welche also schwächer (lockerer) sind. Bedeutsam ist auch, dass die lockere Webung der Randteile nicht durch starkes Einziehen der am Rande liegenden Kettfäden bei der Bildung der Webkante wieder illusorisch gemacht wird ; es darf also nicht auf eine lockere Querschnittsstelle nochmals eine dichtere Stelle (verstärkte Saalleiste) folgen. Dieser Forderung trägt das vorliegende Band Rechnung.
Erst durch die Vereinigung dieser beiden Eigenschaften-der ekette nach endlos gewebt, stärkerer Mittelteil und schwächere Seitenteile - entsteht ein vollkommenes
Hand. Wäre das Band z. B. in der Mitte stärker als in den Randteilen, aber aus einem ursprünglich nicht endlosen Band unter Überlappen der Enden zusammengefügt, so kann der Vorteil, den die Verschwächung der Randteile gegenüber der Bandmitte mit Bezug auf das Zusammenrollen zur Röhre und mit Bezug auf die schonende Behandlung des Hulsenpapieres hat-von den anderen Nachteilen der Verbindungsstelle abgesehen- nicht voll zur Geltung kommen.
