EMI2.2
Beispiel 4 a) In 94 Teile der gemäss Beispiel 2, Absatz a), erhaltenen Drucktinte rührt man 6 Teile des gemäss Beispiel 1, Absatz a), erhaltenen Farbstoffvorproduktes ein.

**WARNUNG** Ende DESC Feld konnte Anfang CLMS uberlappen**.
The invention relates to a stable, liquid to solid preparation which is suitable for printing intermediate carriers for transfer printing, with insoluble azo dyes being formed in the printed material during or after the transfer printing process.
In the context of the present invention, the term stable preparations also includes printing inks and printing inks.
From French patent specification 1 223 330 it is known that prints on textile fabrics or knitted fabrics can be produced by printing a carrier material, which in most cases consists of paper, with a dispersion of a water-insoluble disperse dye, which must be sublimable, then the printed paper is pressed against the material to be printed and heated to a temperature at which the dye sublimates and transfers to the textile material. With the help of this so-called transfer printing process, either plain colors or complex patterns can be created without the need for expensive printing machines for transfer printing.
This method has hitherto been limited to the printing of synthetic fibers because of the properties of the dyes that can be used. It has recently been found that other materials, in particular those made of natural fibers such as cotton, can also be printed with a thermal transfer printing process if the principle of developing dyes is used, in which case dye precursors which have been applied to a carrier material are used in the actual transfer printing process , transferred in a known manner to a fiber material and the insoluble azo dyes only arise in the fiber by azo coupling.
Development dyes are produced in the form of powders or, more rarely, in the form of solutions and applied in dissolved form. However, both these powders and such solutions are not suitable for printing intermediate carriers for transfer printing, e.g. Paper, since the powders are not finely divided and do not result in stable printing inks in undissolved form, while aqueous solutions contain the products in the form of non-transferable salts and also penetrate too deeply into the paper, instead of the dye precursor only on the paper surface in the form most suitable for transfer printing to deposit.
The stable, liquid to solid preparation according to the invention, which is suitable for printing intermediate carriers for transfer printing, is characterized in that it contains at least one dye precursor of the formula DX or the formula HA, D being the remainder of a diazo component, preferably of the aromatic series , X stands for a stabilized diazonium group, in particular a diazoamino group without water-solubilizing substituents, H stands for hydrogen and A stands for the remainder of a couplable compound, and that the average particle size of these dye precursors is below 10, for example between 0.1 and 3 and preferably less than 2 , lies.
Such novel preparations can be obtained if the dye precursors are subjected to a comminution and the fine distribution is stabilized by adding deflocculant dispersants and / or binders. They do not show any of the disadvantages cited at the beginning of the customary commercial ice cream forms and developing dyes and can be used as liquid preparations directly or as printing inks after dilution, while solid preparations can be processed into printing inks by stirring into corresponding printing thickeners. The printing inks are suitable for printing intermediate carriers for the usual transfer printing processes, such as gravure printing, letterpress printing, planographic printing and screen printing.
The dispersants and binders to be used with advantage according to the invention fulfill several important functions. On the one hand, they ensure the stabilization of the fine distribution and thickening of the printing ink and, on the other hand, they bind the dye precursors to the intermediate carrier until transfer printing. For aqueous printing systems, the usual dispersants, e.g. sulfated products of alcohols, fatty acids or polyoxy compounds, also alkyl or aryl sulfonates, salts of fatty acids, lignosulfonates and especially the condensation products of formaldehyde with aromatic sulfonic acids and polyphosphates can be used.
Suitable thickeners and binders are locust bean gum, alginates, tragacanth, dextrin, polyvinyl alcohol, polyamides, polyureas and soluble cellulose derivatives. Particularly suitable deflocculants and binders for preparations for the production of printing inks based on organic solvents are cellulose ethers and esters and other film-forming polymeric compounds, such as maleic and acrylic acid derivatives, N-polyvinyl lactams, polyvinyl acetates, polyvinyl pyrrolidones, and their copolymers, and also esters or salts of Resin acids.
Liquid preparations, such as ready-to-use printing inks, in particular, can contain water and / or solvents that dry quickly after printing on the intermediate carrier or can be easily removed when drying, e.g. Contain hydrocarbons, esters of carboxylic acids, glycols, but especially alcohols and ketones. The preparations can contain other additives such as antifreeze, fungicides, etc.
To produce the preparations according to the invention, the usual comminution methods such as kneading, precipitation or grinding can be used, the preparations first being obtained as doughy to liquid pastes, which are then obtained by normal drying or vacuum drying, optionally also by atomization or freeze drying, in powder or granules can be transferred.
The following examples show some of the possibilities for producing the preparations according to the invention, e.g. B.
Printing inks, as well as variants of their composition, without, however, intended to restrict the scope of the invention. In particular, all compounds suitable for the transfer printing process with dye precursors can be incorporated into preparations according to the invention, e.g. Printing inks. The parts mean parts by weight, the temperatures are given in degrees Celsius.
Example 1 a) In a kneader, 1 part of the naphthol derivative of the formula:
EMI1.1
1 part of ethyl cellulose (Ethocel E7), 4 parts of ground sodium chloride and 1 part of diacetone alcohol are kneaded for 5 hours, then granulated by adding 1 part of water so that the average particle size is less than 3,> after which another 50 parts are added Water followed by a short wet grinding and filtered. The filtered suspension is washed free of solvent and salt with water and dried at 70 ° C. in a vacuum oven.
b) 6 parts of the preparation obtained in accordance with paragraph la are stirred into a solution of 6 parts of Ethocel E7 in 88 parts of a mixture of methyl ethyl ketone / ethanol (1: 1). The printing ink obtained in this way shows very good fine division of the dye precursor. This printing ink is used to print on paper and thus an intermediate carrier suitable for transfer printing is obtained.
c) Cotton fabric is treated with a solution of 10% of a polyglycol (Polydiol 400) in water and dried.
The dye precursor adhering to the paper is transferred to this material by treatment in an ironing press for 30 seconds at 2000 C. The cotton fabric provided with the said dye precursor is then treated with an aqueous solution of the diazo salt of the following formula:
EMI2.1
this gives a strong, extremely washable, red print on the cotton fabric.
Example 8 a) 50 parts of the diazoamino compound of the following formula:
EMI2.2
are ground in 48 parts of isopropanol with the addition of 150 parts of glass spheres with a pressure gauge of 2 mm and one part of polyvinylpyrrolidone (Antaron P 804) and one part of ethyl cellulose (Ethocel E7) until the average particle size is below 2 Jl. The millbase is then separated from the balls with the aid of a sieve and the dispersion is adjusted to 3% diazoamino compound with the addition of isopropanol and Ethocel, the amount of Ethocel used being decisive for the desired viscosity of the printing ink thus obtained.
b) The printing ink obtained in accordance with paragraph 2a above is used to print on paper and thus an intermediate carrier suitable for transfer printing is obtained.
c) The cotton material obtained according to example 1, paragraph c), but not yet developed with diazo salt is used and the diazoamino compound is transferred to the cotton material in the ironing press at 210 ° C. for 30 seconds with the intermediate carrier obtained according to example 2, paragraph b) . One obtains directly, i. H. without watery development, a red print.
Example 3
Dissolve a further 24 parts of ethyl cellulose in 50 parts of the preparation according to Example 2, separated from the millbase, with the addition of isopropanol, apply it to water, filter off the product and dry it, giving a powdery preparation which can be processed into organic printing inks with excellent fine distribution leaves.
Example 4 a) 6 parts of the dye precursor obtained according to Example 1, paragraph a), are stirred into 94 parts of the printing ink obtained in accordance with Example 2, paragraph a). This gives a printing ink which each contains about 3% of the dye precursors required to form the azo dye in the fiber. This printing ink is used to print on paper and thus a suitable intermediate carrier is obtained.
b) If this intermediate carrier is used to print a cotton fabric pretreated with aqueous polyol solution and dried for 30 seconds at 210 ° C. in an ironing press, the same red shade as in Example 1, paragraph c) is obtained by a single transfer and without aqueous aftertreatment. Similar prints can be produced with a dz mass-treated intermediate carrier on fabrics made of polyester or polyamide fibers and on polyester-cotton blended fabrics whose cotton content has been pretreated with polydiol.
Example 5 a) 50 parts of the naphthalene derivative according to Example 1 are ground with 5 parts of a dispersant (Lignosol FTA) with 45 parts of water in a glass ball mill until the particle size is less than 2 F and then separated from the balls.
b) 10 parts of this liquid preparation are stirred into 100 parts of an aqueous alginate thickener (3.5% Lamitex H). The printing ink thus obtained is used to print on paper and thus an intermediate carrier is obtained which can be used in the same way as the carrier obtained according to Example 1, paragraph b).
Example 6
The dye precursor obtained according to Example 5, paragraph a) is diluted by adding further dispersant and water until a preparation is obtained which contains the same amount of dispersant as naphthol derivative.
This product is atomized in an atomization dryer to a powder which contains 50% active substance. When stirred into aqueous printing thickeners of a known type, printing inks are obtained with very good fine distribution, with which the same types of intermediate carriers as in Example 1 can be produced.
Instead of spray drying, freeze drying can also be used to remove the water.
Example 7
50 parts of the dye precursors obtained according to Example 5, paragraph a) are diluted with water to 200 parts.
Then 25 parts of ethyl cellulose powder (Ethocel E7) are stirred in and sufficient sec-butanol is added that a second, organic phase clearly forms which absorbs the ethyl cellulose and the dye precursor. It is then diluted with enough water while stirring that it can completely absorb the excess butanol. The granules formed are separated off and dried.
The preparation is very easily distributed among excellent
Fine distribution in the production of an organic printing ink which can be used in the same way as the printing ink according to Example 1.
Example8
20 parts of the naphthol derivative according to Examples 1 and 20
Parts of the diazoamino compound according to Example 2 are with
2 parts of ethyl cellulose (Ethocel E7) in 48 parts of sec-butanol are ground in a glass ball mill until the corresponding particle size is below 2 CL. After separation from the millbase, 100 parts of water are added and 18 parts of pulverulent ethyl cellulose are introduced with stirring. The mixture is then further diluted with water while stirring until an easily filterable form is obtained. The powder, which is slightly red in color, is filtered and dried. If 9 parts of the preparation thus obtained are stirred into 91 parts of a solution of ethyl cellulose in isopropanol, a printing ink similar to that in Example 4 is obtained directly.
