Abstract
The light dome positioning ring, of sandwich-type construction, is designed for building in on flat roofs, between the flat roof structure and the light dome. An insulating layer is normally connected to it, to prevent the formation of a heat bridge. The ring is made from a hard foamed core (1), with casting restin (2) containing glass fibre shavings completely pressed round it. Production is simple and economical, heat insulation is fully adequate, and the dome ring is weatherproof and permits a high degree of adhesion for hot bitumen. It is of smooth finish and attractive appearance.
Description

The invention relates to an upstand for light domes for installation in flat roofs.
Skylight curbs are already known in various embodiments and are installed between the skylight and the flat roof structure. So that no thermal bridges can occur on the dome light, the curbs are connected with an insulating layer or they are made entirely of foam plastic.
Made of a foam plastic, e.g. B. rigid polyurethane foam, produced curbs have certain disadvantages, e.g. B. Inadequate adhesion of hot bitumen, which is required for gluing the subsequent bitumen cardboard, and limited resistance to UV light. The curbs manufactured using other methods often have imprecise external dimensions and a rough, often unsightly surface.
The invention is now based on the object of creating a skylight curb that can be produced easily and thus economically, meets all requirements with regard to the required thermal insulation, is weather-resistant and enables good adhesion for hot bitumen and has a good appearance. This object is achieved according to the invention in that it consists of a hard foam core which is completely pressed around with a casting resin containing glass fiber chips.
The advantages achieved with the invention consist in particular in the fact that the upstand can be produced simply and thus economically in a form as a one-piece part. Once removed from the mold, the surface is hard and good looking. Rework of any kind is not required. The wall thickness, which is constant over the entire cross-section of the upstand, ensures the same high strength properties at all points. The insulation material is protected from all external influences. The outer layer is UV-light-resistant and also shows good adhesion for hot bitumen. By filling the casting resin with glass fiber chips, it is achieved that the glass fiber material can easily follow the flow of the casting resin, so that no high pressing pressures, which might impair the rigid foam core, are required.
The figure shows a section of such a curb, in section. The actual wreath, consisting of rigid foam core 1 and cast resin jacket 2, into which glass fiber chips are pressed, is attached to the flange 3 for fastening to a roof surface.
