Die unter der Formel I zusammengefassten Verbindungen können also 1 Isopropenyl-4-methyl-spiro[4,5]dec-6-en-8-one, l-Isopropenyl-4-methyl-spiro[4,5]dec-3-en-8-one oder 1 Isopropenyl-4-methylen-spiro[4,Sjdecan-8-one sein.
Der Ausdruck Niederalkyl umfasst gerad- und verzweigtkettige Reste mit 1-6 Kohlenstoffatomen, wie beispielsweise Methyl, Äthyl, Propyl, Isopropyl oder tert.-Butyl. Ein bevorzugter Niederalkylrest ist Methyl.
Die Verbindungen der Formel I zeichnen siL;1 oUI6h 0C- sondere geruchliche Qualitäten aus, wobei eine holzige Grundnote im Vordergrund steht. Sie können deshalb als Riechstoffe in der Parfümerie Verwendung finden, beispielsweise zur Herstellung bzw. zur geruchlichen Modifikation von Riech stoffkompositionen, wie Parfüms, Parfümbasen, usw. durch Zusatz olfaktorisch wahrnehmbarer Mengen, z. B. 0,1-10 Gew. %, zu Gemischen von bekannten Riechstoffen. Die Verbindungen können in Form von Riechstoffkompositionen zur Parfümierung von technischen und kosmetischen Produkten aller Art, z. B. von festen und flüssigen Detergentien, synthetischen Waschmitteln, Aerosolen, Seifen, Cremes, Lotions, usw., z. B. in Konzentrationen von etwa 0,001-0,1 Gew.% verwendet werden.

Bei dieser Riechstoffkomposition handelt es sich um eine fichtenartige Phantasienote, kombiniert mit einem Duft von Hyazinthen, wie sie gerne zur Parfümierung von Badepräparaten verwendet wird. Die frische, holzige Note wird durch den Gehalt an 1 Isopropenyl-4-methyl-spiro[4,5]dec-6-en- 8-on unterstrichen.
Die Verbindungen der Formel I können dadurch hergestellt werden, dass man ein Cyclopenten der Formel

in einem organischen Lösungsmittel in Gegenwart einer Lewis-Säure cyclisiert.
Als geeignete Lewis-Säuren kommen die üblichen Halogenide, vorzugsweise Zinntetrachlorid und Titantetrachlorid, in Frage. Von den üblichen inerten organischen Lösungsmitteln, in denen die Reaktion stattfinden kann, seien beispielsweise Dioxan, Diäthyläther, Benzol, Toluol oder Nitromethan genannt. Die Umsetzung kann innerhalb eines weiten Temperaturbereichs, je nach Lösungsmittel, zwischen -40 und der Rückflusstemperatur, vorzugsweise zwischen 0 und Raumtemperatur, durchgeführt werden.
Die Aufarbeitung des Reaktionsgemisches, die Isolierung und Reinigung der Spiroverbindungen I kann nach bekannten Methoden erfolgen. Zur Reinigung eignet sich neben der Desuí; don vorzugsweise die Chromatographie an Kieselgel.
Die Ausgangsverbindungen der Formel II können dadurch hergestellt werden, dass man eine Verbindung der Formel

Die Oxydation kann in an sich bekannter Weise nach Methoden, wie sie für die Oxydation allylischer Hydroxygruppen allgemein bekannt sind, vorgenommen werden. Als Oxydationsmittel kommen beispielsweise Chromsäure (in ihren verschiedenen Anwendungsformen, wie z. B. als Jones Reagens), aktiviertes Mangandioxid, SO3 (vorzugsweise als Pyridin Komplex, in Gegenwart von Dimethylsulfoxid und Triäthylamin), Silberoxid oder Silbercarbonat in Gegenwart von Celite in Frage. Die Aufarbeitung des Reaktionsgemisches sowie die Reinigung der erfindungsgemässen Verbindungen kann in einer jedem Fachmann geläufigen Weise erfolgen.

Synthese-Beispiel 1
Eine Lösung von 4 g 3-Isopropenyl-1-methyl-2-(3-oxo-4pentenyl)-1-cyclopenten in 150 ml absolutem Benzol und 50 ml absolutem Äther wurde unter starkem Rühren bei 0 innert 30 Minuten mit 60 ml einer 0,5 m benzolischen Zinntetrachloridlösung versetzt. Das Reaktionsgemisch wurde weitere 30 Minuten bei 0 und 2 Stunden bei Zimmertemperatur gerührt und dann auf überschüssige eiskalte Natriumbicarbonatlösung gegossen. Nach Extraktion mit Äther lieferte die Aufarbeitung des Extraktes in üblicher Weise 3,5 g eines hellbraunen Öls, das an der 25fachen Gewichtsmenge Kieselgel chromatographiert wurde.
Durch Elution mit Hexan/Äther (19:1) und Destillation unter vermindertem Druck wurden 2 g reines 1 -Isopropenyl-4-methyl-spiro-[4,5]dec-6-en-8-on (Gemisch von 2 Isomeren) erhalten, Kp.0,001 650; UV (Äthanol): il man = 229 nm (± = 8050); IR (Film): v = 3120, 1685, 1645, 1618, 1450, 1420, 1390, 1380, 1350, 1330, 1265, 1235, 1185, 1155, 1142, 895, 865 cml.
Geruch: erdig, holzig, camphrig.
Das Ausgangsmaterial wurde folgendermassen hergestellt:
Eine Lösung von 20 g 2-(3-Hydroxy-4-pentenyl)-3-iso- propenyl-1-methyl-1-cyclopenten in 1000 ml Aceton wurde unter Rühren bei -10" innert 20 Minuten mit 40 ml Jones Reagens versetzt. Es wurde noch 5 Minuten bei gerührt, dann auf eiskalte überschüssige 2n Sodalösung gegossen und mit Äther extrahiert. Der Extrakt wurde in üblicher Weise aufgearbeitet und lieferte 18,5 g eines hellgelben Öls, das, unter vermindertem Druck destilliert, 16 g reines 3-Isopropenyl-1 methyl-2-(3-oxo-4-pentenyl)- 1 -cyclopenten ergab, Kp. o,ool - 48"; IR (Film): v = 3100, 1700/1685, 1645, 1620, 1442, 1402, 1375, 1100, 990, 968, 895 cml.
Synthese-Beispiel 2
Eine Lösung von 1,3 g 3-Isopropenyl-1-methyl-2-(2methyl-3-oxo-4-pentenyl)-1-cyclopenten in 60 ml absolutem Benzol und 10 ml absolutem Äther wurde unter starkem Rühren bei 0 innert 30 Minuten mit 18 ml einer 0,5 m benzolischen Zinntetrachloridlösung versetzt. Das Reaktionsgemisch wurde weitere 30 Minuten bei 0 und 11/2 Stunden bei Zimmertemperatur gerührt und dann auf überschüssige eiskalte Sodalösung gegossen.
Nach Extraktion mit Äther lieferte die Aufarbeitung des Extraktes in üblicher Weise ein öliges Produkt, aus dem durch Destillation unter vermindertem Druck und Chromatographie an Kieselgel reines 1-Iso propenyl-4,9-dimethyl-spiro[4,5]dec-6-en-8-on (Gemisch von 2 Isomeren) isoliert wurde, Kp.0,005 = 800; UV (Cyclohexan): mox = 212 nm (e = 5750) und 230 nm = = 4650); IR (Film): v = 3110, 1682, 1645, 1625, 1455, 1378, 1200, 1145, 895, 818 cm'.
Geruch: camphrig, holzig, erdig.
Das Ausgangsmaterial wurde in Analogie zu der unter Beispiel 1 beschriebenen Methode aus 2-(3-Hydroxy-2-methyl-4-pentenyl)-3 -isopropenyl- 1 -methyl- 1-cyclopenten hergestellt, Kp.0,02 = 84"; UV (Cyclohexan): I max = 213 nm (e = 9500); IR (Film): v = 3100, 1702, 1682, 1645, 1615, 1455/40, 1405, 1375, 1030, 990, 975, 892 cm1.
Synthese-Beispiel 3
Eine Lösung von 1 g 3-Isopropenyl-1-methyl-2-(2,4-dimethyl-3-oxo-4-pentenyl)-1-cyclopenten in 40 ml absolutem Nitromethan und 8 ml absolutem Äther wurde bei -25" mit 13,5 ml einer 0,5 m Lösung von Titantetrachlorid in Nitromethan versetzt. Nach 1 l/2 stündigem Rühren bei -15" wurde die Reaktionslösung auf überschüssige eiskalte Sodalösung gegossen und das Gemisch wie in Beispiel 2 beschrieben aufgearbeitet. Es wurde reines 1-Isopropenyl-4,7,9-trimethylspiro[4,5]dec-3-en-8-on erhalten, Kp.0,02 = 900; IR (Film): v = 3100, 3080, 1715, 1680, 1642, 1455, 1375, 895 cm¯1.
Geruch: holzig, cedrig, erdig, leicht camphrig.
Das Ausgangsmaterial wurde in Analogie zu der unter Beispiel 1 beschriebenen Methode aus 2-(3-Hydroxy-4-me thyl-4-pentenyl)-3-isopropenyl- 1 -methyl- 1 -cyclopenten hergestellt, Kp.o,o, = 880; UV (Cyclohexan): A max = 213 nm (e = 9900); IR (Film): v = 3110, 1680, 1645, 1450, 1375, 1090, 935, 895 cm'.
Synthese-Beispiel 4
In Analogie zu der in Beispiel 3 beschriebenen Methode wurden aus 1,3 g 3-Isopropenyl-1-methyl-2-(4-methyl-3- oxo-4-pentenyl)-1-cyclopenten 0,45 g eines Gemisches von 1-Isopropenyl-4,7-dimethyl-spiro[4,5]dec-3-en-8-on und 1 Isopropenyl-7-methyl-4-methylen-spiro [4,5]decan-8-on (3:1) erhalten, Kp.o,oos = 850; IR (Film): y = 3100/3080, 1715, 1642, 1455, 1438, 1378, 1235, 1185, 1135, 1108, 1030, 1010, 975, 895, 810 cm¯1.
Geruch: honig, erdig, krautig, grün, camphrig.
