Sie ist durch folgende Merkmale charakterisierts Applikation bei einer Temperatur von ungefähr 15 bis 500C vorzugsweise 30 bis<B>5000,</B> wenn gleichzeitig nachgeseift werden soll, auch bis zu 800C; Verwendung solcher Mengen, dass ungefähr 0,1 bis 0,5 % wirksame Substanz auf die Faser gelangen;
Diejenigen Stoffe der Formel I, deren Alkylrest R 11 bis 16 Kohlenstoffatome enthält, sind flüssig bis pastös; sie geben ohne Schwierigkeiten mit kaltem bis lauwarmem Wasser klare bis schwach opaleszierende Lösungen, die keine festen Bestandteile mehr enthalten;
<U>Beispiel 1.</U>

Process for preparing, finishing and antistatic finishing of Textilgixt. It is known to use natural and synthetic fibers, e.g. those made of cotton, wool, rayon, cellulose acetate, polyamides, acrylonitrile polymers,
Polyesters as so7_che or in the form of tops, carded baths or other rovings either in the <B> raw white </B> state or after dyeing or printing a preparation or finishing with plasticizers and / or subjected to a treatment with antistatic agents, so that they can be spun better.
Other intermediate textile products or finished products, such as threads, nonwovens, tow, yarns, woven fabrics, knitted fabrics and knitted fabrics are usually treated with plasticizers and antistatic agents in the course of their finishing or use.
For this purpose, one uses mainly compounds that consist of a long xlkylrest and a water-solubilizing group of nonionic, cationic, anionic or amphoteric Ert.
Cation-active plasticizers occupy a certain special position among these substances, as they are particularly extensive due to their high substantivity, especially against cellulose and negatively charged fibers, and enable optimal effects in terms of smoothness and softness.
Compounds of this kind are generally characterized by a basic nitrogen puncture; they are used in the form of their salts or quaternization products from aqueous solution, dispersion or emulsion.
Amphoteric compounds have cation-active character in the acidic range and anion-active character in the alkaline range. It has therefore already been recommended to use amphoteric compounds, taking advantage of this property, as a preparation agent and agent for any application in an acidic or alkaline environment. However, it turned out
that in an alkaline medium they have only low substantivity and low resistance to hardness constituents in the water, while in an acidic medium they favor the angiliation of white textiles. So they combine the disadvantages of the anion-active and the cation-active plasticizers, but not their advantages to the extent expected.
In general, the substances tested as plasticizers up to now have shown that substances with good efficacy melt at relatively high temperatures above 70 ° C and have a low rate of dissolution in water, so that they have to be dissolved in hot water. In most cases, solutions that contain more than 10> known plasticizers have such a high viscosity that
that they cannot be applied. It has now been found that the difficulties mentioned can be avoided if substances of the formula are used for the preparation, finishing and antistatic treatment of textiles
EMI0003.0019
used, in which R is an alkyl radical with more than 10 carbon atoms, preferably 11 to 20 carbon atoms,
and R1 to R4 are hydrogen or identical or different lower alkyl radicals
EMI0003.0028
mean. <SEP> As <SEP> lower <SEP> alkyl radicals <SEP> Hl <SEP> to <SEP> R4 <SEP> <SEP> such <SEP> are preferred,
<tb> 1
<tb> which / to <SEP> contain 4 <SEP> carbon atoms <SEP>. <SEP> Because of <SEP> their <SEP> easy accessibility, those substances in which R1 to R4 are hydrogen atoms are of particular technical importance.
Examples of substances of the formula I include:
EMI0003.0036
EMI0004.0001
The substances of the formula. I can be prepared according to known processes, for example by reacting β-hydroxyalkylthioether with an alkylene oxide and with sulfur dioxide.
The substances dez, r'orrnel I are applied to the textile material in the form of their dispersions or hösurgen, especially their aqueous solutions, and the textile material is then dried.
In detail, one proceeds in such a way that the substances do not undergo any chemical change, and above all do not react with the item to be treated while fixing. This condition is met without any special measures if one uses the generally usual working method for the preparation and finishing.
It is characterized by the following features: application at a temperature of approximately 15 to 500C, preferably 30 to 5000, if soapy is to be carried out at the same time, also up to 800C; Using amounts such that about 0.1-0.5% active substance gets on the fiber;
the finishing and preparation baths should have a pH value between 4 and 9; Dry at about 80 to 104 C and above. In addition to substances of the formula I, the softening and preparation baths can contain other substances customary in such baths, for example mineral oil, fatty acids,
Condensation products of fatty acids and low molecular weight alkylamines or KllVol- amines, fatty alcohols, fatty acid esters of mono- or polyhydric alcohols, reaction products of alkylene oxides, preferably ethylene oxide, with fatty acids, fatty alcohols, pettamines,
Fatty acid alkylamides and other compounds capable of oxyalkylation. These usual substances can be present in the baths in predominant amounts compared to the substances of the formula I.
So you can z.R. Prepare fully synthetic fibers with combinations of mineral oils and only 15% of substances of the formula I. The substances of the formula I combine some of the essential advantageous properties of anion-active,
cationic and nonionic finishing and preparation agents. In an acidic, neutral and weakly alkaline medium, they are just as effective as the previously known cationic plasticizers only in an acidic bath. In addition, they give the item to be treated an absorbency that was previously only available with anion-active,
or nonionic plasticizers, but not with cationic active agents. Furthermore, they reduce or prevent the formation of static electricity on textiles as materials with little electrical time capacity, such as cellulose esters, polyamides, acrylonitrile polymers, polyesters and other fully synthetic fibers.
Those substances of the formula I whose alkyl radical R contains 11 to 16 carbon atoms are liquid to pasty; With cold to lukewarm water, they give clear to slightly opalescent solutions that no longer contain solid components without difficulty;
Solutions with 10 to 20 p pesticide content are so low in viscosity that they can be used directly as a lubricant for neck material and, for example, easily sprayed.
Compounds of the formula?, The alkyl radical of which has R 11 to 16 carbon atoms, show, in addition to their softening effect, a pronounced surface activity and their effect is therefore that of a softener and a detergent. They can be used advantageously for after-soaping dyed textiles,
wherein the textile structures treated in this way are cleaned of adhering, unbound dye and at the same time finished in such a way that further processing does not cause any difficulties.
Compounds of the formula I whose alkyl radical R contains 16 to 20 carbon atoms provide a particularly outstanding plasticizer effect. Particularly noteworthy is the possibility of applying the substances of the formula I to optically brightened textile material made of cellulose or regenerated cellulose,
without the fluorescence effect being impaired. It is irrelevant whether the treatment is carried out in an acidic or weakly alkaline environment.
This application option is particularly valuable because the previously known cationic softeners reduce the degree of whiteness to a greater or lesser extent in the aftertreatment of textiles made of cellulose or regenerated cellulose fibers that have been treated with anionic optical brighteners. Yan can also
and this is a preferred embodiment of the invention, textile material made of cellulose or regenerated cellulose at the same time in a bath or preparing and optically brightening, if a treatment bath is used, the addition of anionic brighteners and compounds of the formula I as additives 2 to 100 aetrylene oxygng products carrying oxygen get from fatty alcohol,
Contains fatty acids, fatty amines, fatty acid alkylolamides or other alkoxylable starting materials with long-chain hydrocarbon radicals and possibly non-oxyethylated fatty alcohols, fatty acids, fatty amines or fatty acid alkylolamides,
where the sum of the additives and substances of the formula I mentioned consists of at least 30 p of the latter.
The simultaneous and one-bath treatment of cellulose or regenerated cellulose with substances of the formula I and anionic optical brighteners without the use of the additives mentioned should, on the other hand, be avoided, since this leads to a strong impairment of the white effect. The parts and percentages given in the examples are units of weight. <U> Example 1. </U>
Bleached cotton yarn in strand form is mixed with a 0.2-76% aqueous solution of the substance of the formula in a liquor ratio <B> 1130 </B> at 40 ° C. for 10 minutes
EMI0008.0009
which has been prepared by dissolving in water at room temperature and stirring briefly and has a pH of 6, treated.
After spinning to around 100> residual moisture and drying at 100eC, the result is a material that is characterized by a soft and smooth handle <B> f </B>. The degree of whiteness of the starting material is unchanged, the absorbency of the material is not impaired in comparison to the starting material.
<U> Example 2. </U> A cotton yarn in the form of cheeses with the optical brightener of the formula
EMI0008.0028
has been treated, is treated at ° 00C for 10 minutes with a 0.2% aqueous solution of the substance of the formula IV, which is adjusted to a pH value between 8 and 9 by adding solo solution, at the liquor ratio 1:
10 notified. Lie bobbins are subjected to quick drying at 1450C for one hour after finishing. After conditioning, the result is a soft, voluminous yarn,
whose degree of whiteness is not reduced in comparison to the non-air-activated material and which has excellent running properties when winding, twisting, weaving and knitting, <U> Example </U> 3 # cotton yarn,
which was dyed in the form of cross-wound bobbins with the dye of the Golor index no. 59 805, is after rinsing with a 0.2% aqueous solution of the compound
EMI0009.0029
Soaped up at 80 ° C for 30 minutes, the pH of the treatment liquor being between 8 and 9.
After drying, both under normal conditions and in the quick-drying process, the result is a soft, absorbent cotton yarn which, when processed, has good sliding properties, a low number of broken lines and excellent serviceability.
In addition, the treatment improves the fastness properties, such as rubbing fastness and light fastness, to the same extent as with the usual after-soaping with alkyl sulfates or Marseille soap.
<U> Example<B>4.</B> </U> Spun-dyed rayon of the wool type with high pigment storage and crimping, which can only be spun after applying highly effective finishing agents, is used after leaving the precipitation bath and the other post-treatment baths, such as Neutralization, desulfurization,
Bleaching and rinsing with a 0.3, 5% aqueous solution of the following compound
EMI0010.0006
Prepared at PH 7, so that a fiber application of 0.2% results. The fiber, dried at 80 to 100 C, can be spun perfectly after air conditioning;
yarns of high uniformity and strength are obtained. <U> Example 5. </U> Fibers made of folyacrylonitrile with a liter of 3 denier and a cut length of 60 mm are, following their production, with the aqueous solution of 5 g / liter of a mixture of 5 parts of stearic acid monoethanolamide,
5 parts of compound of the formula II, 2 parts of stearic acid, 2 parts of reaction product of 1 mol of kicinus oil and 40 mol of ethylene oxide at 40 ° C. and at any pH value between 4 and 9 in such a way that a fiber add-on of 0.3% results.
After drying, the fibers can be perfectly carded, drawn and spun without an electrostatic charge disrupting the spinning process. Removal of the preparation before dyeing, bleaching or other finishing processes is not necessary. <U> Example <B> 6,
</B> </U> Woolen sliver dyed with chromium dyes and washed on the Lisseuse is sprayed on the needle with a 20% aqueous solution of the compound of formula IV, so that approx.
5% active substance get onto the fiber. This achieves a trouble-free draft and enables the spinning to form even yarns of high fineness, e.g. <B><U>7.</U> </B> After leaving the spinning section, polyamide threads are:
using preparation godets with an aqueous solution of a mixture of 80 parts of mineral oil, 16.6 parts of the compound of the formula IV, 3.0 parts of n-octanol 0, ° parts of coconut fatty alcohol non-ethylene glycol ether prepared in the manner
that results in a release agent application of about 1 #o. The material prepared on this Oise shows good winding properties,
Resistance of the antistatic effect after heat setting as well as excellent running properties due to high surface slip. The preparation does not interfere with the subsequent finishing processes,
on the contrary, it causes the material to be quickly and completely wetted with dyeing and finishing liquors. <U> Example B. </U>
Terrycloth articles which have become rough and brittle in the course of their use due to frequent washing with heavy detergents are treated with a solution of 2 g / liter of the compound of the formula IV for 10 minutes at 40 ° C. following a normal wash.
After drying, the result is a material which is characterized by its softness, smoothness and good absorbency, <U> Example 9 </U> White laundry, which was washed in the course of its use with coarse detergents containing optical brighteners and of the usual composition,
after the washing process with an aqueous solution of 2 g / hiter of a mixture of the following composition 41.7 parts of the compound of the formula IV, 41.7 parts of a condensation product of stearic acid and diethanolamine in the molar ratio 1s1, 16,
7 parts of a reaction product composed of 114T01 castor oil and 40 mol of ethylene oxide were treated for 10 minutes at 30 to 40 ° C., spun off and air-dried. The textile material has an increased utility value due to its pleasant, soft handle and good absorbency.
<U> Example 10 </U> cotton tricot fabric is, after bleaching with an aqueous bath, 0.3 gb of a commercially available optical brightener of the following constitution
EMI0013.0001
and 0.296 of the mixture given in Example 9, treated at 4000 for 10 minutes. The goods treated in this way are characterized by a soft, pleasant feel.
It has the surface smoothness required for assembly and can therefore be processed without interference even when using high-performance sewing machines. The material is well absorbent, the degree of whiteness is just as good as when treated with the optical brightener alone.
