The present invention relates to a process for treating ash from the incineration of household waste and industrial waste.
The destruction of urban and industrial waste is currently carried out using various processes. The most common are: a) Contaminated landfill. - Waste is widespread
on the ground, then covered with a layer of soil. Many
layers are thus arranged one on top of the other. The degradation
dation of products is done naturally, without too much pollution
tion.
b) Composting. - Waste is subjected to fermentation
biological (aerobic) and turn into a material used
as a fertilizer.
c) Incineration. - Waste is burned in ovens
suitable, the temperature of which must not be lower than
750- C. Ashes and bottom ash resulting from incineration
are usually disposed of in landfills and sometimes used
as backfill materials.
The current processes, if they ensure the elimination of waste, seldom and for a tiny part allow the reuse of materials and their reintroduction into the cycle of raw materials. Indeed, for technical reasons first, the ashes being very heterogeneous, many problems arise: separation of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, glasses, etc., then, for financial reasons, the cost of these operations does not is not profitable at the moment. It is however certain that, in a more or less near future, the technique will make it possible to solve the problems posed by the recovery of the raw materials, materials lost by the current means of destruction.
On the other hand, the industry's ever-increasing consumption of raw materials will bring the financial aspect of the problem of recovering reusable products to a point of equilibrium.
The object of the invention is to treat the ashes coming out of the refuse incineration furnaces in order to transform them, from the heterogeneous amalgam of their origin, into several well-defined products, capable of being treated physically or chemically.
The method which is the subject of the invention is characterized in that after their removal from the furnace and extinction, the ashes are brought to an electromagnetic scrapper, the scrap is directed, on the one hand, to a hydraulic press and, on the other hand, the rest. at a crusher, at the outlet of the crusher, the non-ferrous metals and the glass are separated from the ash by means of a ballistic device, a field detector ensuring the absence of non-ferrous in the said ashes, the glass is separated non-ferrous metals by means of a second ballistic device and finally brings the ashes to a screen from which they exit calibrated.
An implementation of the method according to the invention is described below, by way of example.
When they come out of the oven, and after extinguishing with water, the ashes are taken from the pit and brought onto a conveyor belt topped with an electromagnetic scrapper. The scrap is transported, by hoppers and conveyor belt, in a hydraulic press controlled manually or automatically and the blocks which come out are handled by electromagnet.
The ash removed is then crushed, for example in a rotary or reciprocating mill, and the slag blocks are reduced to fragments of a particle size determined by the subsequent treatments. After grinding, the separation of the non-ferrous metals is carried out by a ballistic device, in this case a belt set at a speed such that at the end of the belt, different trajectories of the materials are obtained due to the densities of said materials. Receiving hoppers, the location of which is set in the cone of the trajectories, collect materials of different kinds. A field detector detects metal particles not separated from the ash and emits an audible or optical signal.
Then, the ashes are conveyed to a screen with one or more screens, the mesh size of which is defined by the subsequent treatments that the ash must undergo. These can be further washed to remove fines, which can be collected in a filter press.
A second ballistic device, similar to the one used above, separates the non-ferrous metals and the glass according to their specific weights and, at the end of the treatment, the following separate products are obtained: iron, aluminum, copper, other metals. non-ferrous, glass, porcelain, etc., and ash sorted by grain size. Each of these various products can then be treated according to its specificity.
