17 g of magnesium shavings are treated with iodine vapors and covered with 50 ml of absolute tetrahydrofuran. 10 ml of precooled vinyl bromide are then added under a nitrogen atmosphere. After the reaction has started, a further 300 ml of tetrahydrofuran are added and 50 ml of vinyl bromide are added dropwise. After the reaction has ended, it is diluted with 400 ml of tetrahydrofuran, and a solution of 38.4 g of 3-isopropenyl-1-methyl-2- (3-oxobutyl) -cyclopent-1-ene in 250 ml is added within 30 minutes with vigorous stirring Tetrahydrofuran is added and the mixture is refluxed for one hour. The cooled reaction mixture is then poured onto ice-cold saturated ammonium chloride solution covered with a layer of 2 liters of ether. The ethereal phase is washed successively with bicarbonate solution and water, dried over sodium sulfate and concentrated under reduced pressure.
