There are many types of devices of this kind making use either of filter cells or of cells carrying out purification by bubbling the gas stream into a liquid.
In particular, a device is known in which the gaseous stream charged with particles is projected perpendicularly against a liquid surface by a first deflector creating a first vortex and followed by a concave surface, the end of which creates a second vortex in the direction opposite to the first and interfering. with this first whirlwind.
A device is also known in which the first deflector is followed by a sawtooth baffle, the lower edges of which are flush with the level of the liquid, this baffle preceding a windmill driven by the gas current.
All of these known devices are of complicated and expensive construction.
The aim of the invention is to obtain a device that is simple to construct, inexpensive and efficient.
The device according to the invention for the purification of a gas stream loaded with particles and smoke by bubbling the gas stream into a liquid, comprising a suction pump for the gas to be purified and a tank, partially filled with liquid, having an inlet nozzle for the gas stream to be purified, is characterized in that the tank has a rectangular parallelepiped shape, the largest dimension of which is parallel to the ground, one of the small sides of the tank having the gas inlet nozzle and a series of four baffles fixed contiguously to the vertical sides of the tank, the first baffle plunging into the liquid, its upper edge stopping at a certain distance from the upper wall of the tank and forcing the gas stream to rise,
the second baffle being contiguous to the upper wall of the tank and flush with two deflectors with which it is fitted with the surface of the liquid, the third baffle being similar to the first and the fourth baffle being contiguous to the upper wall of the tank, flush with the surface of the liquid and being provided with a deflector, the fourth baffle being in the vicinity of half of the tank, the whole so that a first vortex is created by the gas flow between the second and the third baffle and a second vortex is created between the fourth baffle and the wall of the tank opposite to the inlet of the gas stream, the speed of the gas stream in the last part of the tank being low enough to allow total fallout of the swirling liquid.
The accompanying drawing, by way of schematic example, shows a device according to the invention:
Fig. 1 is a view in elevation and in axial section of the device.
Fig. 2 is a section along the line II-II of FIG. 1.
The purification device shown in the drawing comprises a parallelepipedal tank 1 partially filled with a liquid 2, preferably water. The small side 3 of this tank I has an inlet nozzle 4 for the gas to be purified. A suction pump 5 is mounted on the upper wall of this tank and creates by the outlet nozzle 6 a certain vacuum in the tank 1. A series of four baffles 7, 8, 9, 10 are attached contiguously to the walls 11 and 12 these baffles parallel to the short side 3 can be inclined relative to these short sides.
The first 7 of these walls is immersed in the liquid 2, its upper edge stops at a certain distance from the upper wall 13 of the tank, this baffle forces the gas stream represented by the arrow to rise.
The second baffle 8 is contiguous with the upper wall 13 of the tank and forces the gas stream to descend. This baffle ends with two small baffles 8a and 8b which are flush with the liquid 2, these baffles causing turbulence allowing the creation of a vortex at the exit of this second baffle, this vortex causing an intimate mixture of the liquid and the gas stream, the latter being from this first vortex free of all solid particles of large dimensions.
A third baffle 9 similar to the first 10 forces the gas stream to rise, the liquid entrained during the swirling falls back into the tank either between the second and the third baffle, or between this third and the fourth baffle 10.
The fourth chicane 10 is located in the vicinity of half of the ferry. It is like the second, contiguous to the upper wall 13 of the tank. Its lower edge is flush with the liquid, a deflector 10a inclined at approximately 45 on the baffle creates a turbulence at the outlet of the baffle creating a vortex, as the volume of the space existing between this last baffle and the bottom 14 of the tank is large the speed of the gas flow in this space is very low, which allows the liquid carried by the turbulence to fall easily by gravity without leaving through the suction nozzle 6.
To avoid, despite everything, any accidental exit of the liquid, an additional baffle can be provided forcing the gas to exit horizontally at the top of the tank.
To facilitate the flow of sludge, provision has been made to give a certain slope to the bottom 15, and, in order to be able to easily clean the apparatus, provision has been made to mount sliding doors 16 and 17 on the walls 3 and 14.
The device is also provided with a liquid drain valve, a constant level filling valve for changing the liquid.
This purification device will preferably be constructed of welded PVC, a part of the tank possibly being transparent, to make it possible to see the operation of the apparatus and the state of pollution of the purifying liquid.
From this description, it can be seen that the device described is simple, inexpensive and easy to construct.
