EMI2.2

The present invention relates to a reserve printing process and multicolor printing process on polyester fibers with dyes containing carboxyl groups and an alkaline reserve, which is characterized in that, apart from the carboxyl group, no dyes of the formula containing water-solubilizing substituents are used
EMI1.1
where D is an optionally substituted m- or p-phenylene radical, R1 and R3 each represent a hydrogen atom or a substituent and R2 a substituent, applies to the polyester material, the textile material dries with an alkaline printing paste which contains optical brighteners or other dyes may contain, printed, the textile material fixed in the heat and then the salt of the carboxyl-containing dye washes out of the printed areas.
Particularly suitable substituents R1, R2 and R3 are: R1 is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl radical, a cycloalkyl radical, an aryl or aralkyl radical, a heterocyclic radical or an amino group, it also being possible for these radicals to be substituted; R2 is an alkyl, aryl or aralkyl radical, it also being possible for these radicals to be substituted, as well as a heterocyclic radical, an ester or carbonamide group; R3 is a hydrogen or halogen atom, in particular a chlorine atom, a cyano, sulfonyl, ester, acyl, carbonamide or sulfonamide group.
The radical D of the diazo component can be the usual in azo compounds, in particular not water-solubilizing substituents such. B. halogen atoms, nitro, alkyl, alkoxy, acylamino, carbalkoxy, alkylsulfone, acyloxy or trifluoromethyl groups contain.
The azo compounds are obtained by adding diazo compounds of amines of the formula
EMI1.2
with hydroxypyridone compounds of the formula
EMI1.3
to the compounds used according to the invention.
Reference is made to German Offenlegungsschrift No. 1 924 570.
An example of an amine whose diazo compound is suitable for the preparation of the compounds used according to the invention is 3-aminobenzoic acid.
Examples of the coupling components used according to the invention are:
3 -Cyan-6-hydroxy-4-methyl-2-pyridone, 13 -hydroxyethyl-3-cyan-6-hydroxy-4-methyl-2-pyridone, 3-cyano-6-hydroxy-4-carboxy-methyl- 2-pyridon and
3 -cyan-6-hydroxy-4-carboxy-methyl-1-ethyl-2-pyridone.
The diazotization of the mentioned diazo components can, for. B. with the help of aqueous mineral acid and sodium nitrite or with a solution of nitrosylsulfuric acid in concentrated sulfuric acid.
The coupling can also be carried out in a manner known per se, e.g. B. in a neutral to acidic medium, optionally in the presence of sodium acetate or similar, the coupling rate influencing buffer substances or catalysts, such as. B. dimethylformamide, pyridine or its salts can be made.
The alkaline printing paste can also contain carboxyl group-free optical brighteners, white carboxyl group-free pigments or other carboxyl group-free dyes.
Polyester fibers made from terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol or 1,4-dimethylolcyclohexane and from copolymers made from terephthalic and isophthalic acid and ethylene glycol may be mentioned in particular. The fibers to be printed must not contain any free amino groups.
Mixtures of the above-mentioned fibers and hydrophilic fibers, in particular cellulose fibers and wool fibers, are also suitable. Polyester-cotton and polyester-wool blends should also be mentioned.
The textile materials are usually woven, knitted or other flat structures such as nonwovens.
The new dyes containing carboxy groups can be present as salts of volatile organic bases or as ammonium salts.
The log liquor will usually be watery. In addition to the dye, it can also contain other auxiliaries, such as sodium salts of highly concentrated naphthalenesulfonic acid-formaldehyde resins, sulfite cellulose waste liquor products, condensation products of higher alcohols with ethylene oxide, polyglycol ethers of fatty acid amides and alkylphenols, sulfosuccinic acid esters or Turkish red oil.
The padding liquor can also be a solution of the dye in an organic solvent.
After squeezing to 20 to 200 percent by weight of the fiber weight, the textile material is dried. B. with steam or preferably with a stream of hot air between 70 and 1500 C for 10 to 300 seconds.
The fabric is then printed with an alkaline printing paste which contains a heat-resistant alkaline compound, such as an alkali carbonate such as soda or potash, or above all alkali hydroxides such as sodium or potassium hydroxide. The amount of alkali must be measured in such a way that the dye on the fiber is definitely converted into the alkali salt. If the reservation remains white, the reservation paste can contain white pigments such as titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. The printing paste also contains the usual additives, such as thickeners, e.g. B. gum arabic or methyl cellulose.
In order to achieve two-color prints, the printing paste will also be added to alkali-resistant dyes, in particular disperse dyes, such as those listed in the Color Index, for example. These dyes must not contain any carboxyl groups.
Optical brighteners which have an affinity for the polyester fabric can also be incorporated into the alkaline printing paste. In addition to a carboxyl group-free disperse dye, the printing paste can also contain dyes from other dyeing categories, such as. B. water-soluble or water-insoluble dyes with fiber-reactive groups, such as di- or monochlorotriazine groups, chloroacetylamino groups and acrylamide groups. The use of water-soluble fiber-reactive dyes is of particular interest in cases where the substrate used is cellulose or wool-containing mixed fabrics with polyester fibers. If printing pastes with fiber-reactive dyes are used, the alkali treatment can be adapted to modern methods for fixing reactive dyes (e.g. alkali shock treatment).
After printing, the textile material can either be dried beforehand with steam or hot air, or it can be subjected to fixation tel quel.
The fixation of the dye (s) on the textile material takes place in the heat at 100 to 260 C, preferably at 150 to 230 C, preferably with dry heat (thermosol process) in suitable devices.
Superheated steam can also be used.
After fixing, the printed material is washed out. Washing can be carried out either in organic or, preferably, in aqueous liquor. The usual surfactants or detergents are used for this.
In the following example, unless otherwise stated, the parts are parts by weight, the percentages are percentages by weight, and the temperatures are given in degrees Celsius.
example
133 parts of a 10% paste of the dye of the formula
EMI2.1
200 parts of 2.5% strength sodium alginate solution, 1.5 parts by volume of 40% strength acetic acid are made up to 1000 parts of water and polyester fabric is padded with this liquor and squeezed off to 75%. The fabric is dried for one minute at 1200 and a portion of the dried fabric is printed with a white reserve as follows: a paste of 20 parts of soda and 950 parts of 2.5% sodium alginate solution is printed in strips on the fabric. The fabric is thermoset at 200 for one minute and then washed thoroughly with a solution containing the adduct of 9 moles of ethylene oxide and 1 mole of nonylphenol. A yellow-colored fabric with a white reserve is obtained.
The printing paste can also be mixed with additives such as aluminum secondary butoxide or M-nitrobenzenesulfonate.
The dye is obtained as follows: 6.85 parts of 3-aminobenzoic acid are concentrated with 15 parts by volume. Hydrochloric acid made into a paste and diluted with 100 parts of ice water. At 0-5 ", 12.5 parts by volume of 4N sodium nitrite solution are added dropwise and stirring is continued for 30 minutes.
The diazo solution obtained in this way is filtered clear and at 0-5 "is added to a solution of 7.5 parts of 3-cyano-6-hydroxy-4-methyl2-pyridone, which has been dissolved in 650 parts of water and sodium hydroxide with brilliant alkalinity. The reaction mixture is added with Sodium acetate solution made Congo-neutral After the coupling has ended, the precipitated dye is filtered, washed with water and dried.
The dye of the formula is obtained
EMI2.2
which dyes polyester fibers and cellulose acetate fibers in yellow tones.
Dyes of the formula are obtained by the same process
EMI2.3
where the meaning of D, R1, R2 and R3 results from the table below, which can also be used in the process according to the invention and dye polyester fibers in the color shades given in the last column.
