Im folgenden werden unter niederen aliphatischen Resten, wie Alkyl oder Alkylen, solche mit 1 bis 8 Kohlenstoffatomen verstanden, wenn nichts anderes angegeben ist.
Spezifische Beispiele von Purinverbindungen der Formel (I) sind die folgenden: (nieder)-Alkyl-4-(6-aminopurin-9-yl)-4-desoxy-D-erythronate [z.B.
Methyl-4-(6-aminopurin-9-yl)-4-desoxy-D-erythronat, Äthyl-4-(6-aminopurin-9-yl)-4-desoxy-D-erythronat, Propyl-4-(6-aminopurin-9-yl)-4-desoxy-D-erythronat, Butyl-4-(6-aminopurin-9-yl)-4-desoxy-D-erythronat], (nieder)-Alkyl-4-.(6-aminopurin-9-yl)-4-desoxy-2,3-O,O-(nie- der)-alkyliden-D-erythronate [z. B. Gemäss der vorliegenden Erfindung werden die Purinverbindungen der Formel (I) nach der folgenden Methode hergestellt, die sich durch die folgenden Formeln wiedergeben lässt:

Die Reaktion wird so durchgeführt, dass man eine Verbin dung der Formel:

worin Ri, R2, R3 und R4 die obigen Bedeutungen haben, oder ein an der Carboxylgruppe funktionell abgewandeltes Derivat mit einem Reaktionsmittel der Formel:
RX worin R die obige Bedeutung hat und X Halogen, Hydroxyl, Hydroxysulfonyloxy oder Alkoxysulfonyloxy mit 1 bis 8 Kohlenstoffatomen bedeutet, oder mit einem Reaktionsmittel der Formel: R'=N2 worin R' Alkylen mit 1 bis 8 Kohlenstoffatomen bedeutet, umsetzt.
Dabei kann X Chlor oder Brom oder eine (nieder)-Alkoxysulfonyloxygruppe, z. B. die Methoxysulfonyloxy- oder Äthoxysulfonyloxygruppe, bedeuten. R' kann einen (nieder) Alkylenrest, wie z. B. einen Methylen- oder Äthylenrest, bedeuten.
Die Umsetzung erfolgt im allgemeinen in einem Lösungsmittel, wie z. B. Methanol, Äthanol Benzol Toluol, Dimethylformamid, Aceton, Äther oder Tetrahydrofuran, und bei einer Temperatur zwischen Zimmertemperatur und der Siedetemperatur des Reaktionsmediums.
Als funktionelles Derivat einer Purinverbindung der Formel (II) kann man beispielsweise ein Säurehalogenid, ein Säureazid, ein Säureanhydrid, ein Amid und dergleichen nennen.
Je nach der Art des Reaktionsmittels der Formel (A) oder der Formel (B) kann man einen sauren oder einen alkalischen Katalysator oder ein Kondensationsmittel verwenden. Beispiele hierfür sind: Salzsäure, Schwefelsäure, Bortrifluorid, Benzolsulfonsäure, p Toluolsulfonsäure, Bromwasserstoffsäure, Ferrichlorid, Aluminiumchlorid, Zinkchlorid, N,N'-Dicyclohexylcarbodiimid, N Cyclohexyl-N'-morpholinoäthylcarbodiimid, N-Cyclohexyl-N' (4-diäthylaminocyclohexyl)-carbodiimid, N,N'-Diäthylcarbodiimid, N,N'-Diisopropylcarbodiimid, N-Äthyl N'-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)-carbodiimid, N,N'-Carbonyldiimidazol, N,N'-Carbonyldi-(2-methylimidazol), N,N'

Im Verlauf des obigen Verfahrens kann bzw. können die acylierte bzw. verätherte Hydroxylgruppe bzw. -gruppen im Symbol R'4 in eine Hydroxylgruppe bzw. in Hydroxylgruppen übergeführt werden.
Die oben erhaltenen Purinverbindungen der Formel (I) können in an sich bekannter Weise in ihre Salze, z. B. in Säureadditionssalze, übergeführt werden.
Die Purinverbindungen der Formel (I) und ihre Salze besitzen im allgemeinen eine ausgesprochene hypocholesterinämische Wirkung.
Beispiel (A) 4-(6-Aminopurin-9-yl)-4-desoxy-2,3-di-O-acetyl-Derythronsäure (60 mg) wird in 4 cm3 Tetrahydrofuran suspendiert und mit einer Ätherlösung (2 cm3), enthaltend 25 mg Diazomethan, unter Rühren versetzt. Das Gemisch wird während 2 Stunden weiter gerührt. Dann wird das Reaktionsgemisch unter vermindertem Druck eingeengt. Der Rückstand wird unter Verwendung von neutralem Aluminiumoxyd der Kolonnenchromatographie unterworfen und mit einer Mischung von Chloroform und Methanol (Mischungsverhältnis 10 1) eluiert, wobei man Kristalle von Methyl-4-(6-aminopurin-9-yl)-4-desoxy-2,3-di-O- acetyl-D-erythronat (38 mg) erhält.
Schmelzpunkt 228OC (Zersetzung).
(B) 4-(6-Aminopurin-9-yl)-4-desoxy-D-erythronsäure (100 mg) wird in 15 cm3 Tetrahydrofuran suspendiert und mit einer 50 mg Diazomethan enthaltenden Ätherlösung (5 cm3) versetzt. Das Gemisch wird unter Rühren bei Zimmertemperatur gehalten. Das Reaktionsgemisch wird dann unter vermindertem Druck eingeengt, wobei man Nadeln in einer Menge von 82 mg erhält. Diese bestehen aus Methyl-4-(6-aminopurin-9-yl)-4-desoxy-D-erythronat. Schmelzpunkt 23 10C (unter Zersetzung) (umkristallisiert aus einer Mischung von Methanol und Wasser).
(C) 4-(6-Aminopurin-9-yl)-4-desoxy-D-erythronsäure (1,00 g) wird in 50 cm3 Methanol suspendiert. Hierauf versetzt man die Lösung unter Rühren tropfenweise mit 2 cm3 Bortrifluoridätherat. Das Gemisch wird während 5 Stunden gerührt, worauf man das Methanol unter vermindertem Druck verdampft. Der Rückstand wird in Wasser gelöst und mit Natriumbicarbonat neutralisiert. Die ausgeschiedenen Kristalle werden durch Filtrieren gesammelt, mit Wasser und hierauf mit Methanol gewaschen und aus einer Mischung von Methanol und Wasser umkristallisiert, wobei man Methyl-4-(6aminopurin-9-yl)-4-desoxy-D-erythronat (0,86 g) erhält.
Schmelzpunkt 231OC (unter Zersetzung).
(D) 4-(6-Aminopurin-9-yl)-4-desoxy-D-erythronsäure (500 mg) wird in 25 cm3 Äthanol suspendiert. Dann versetzt man die Lösung mit 0,4 g konz. Schwefelsäure. Das Gemisch wird unter Rückfluss während 6 Stunden erhitzt und in eine wässrige Lösung (25 cm3), enthaltend 2,5 g Natriumbicarbonat, gegossen. Die ausgefällte Substanz wird abfiltriert. Das Filtrat wird unter vermindertem Druck bei Zimmertemperatur eingeengt. Das Konzentrat wird in Äthanol gelöst und das unlösliche Material abfiltriert. Das Filtrat wird unter vermindertem Druck eingeengt, das Konzentrat in Äthanol gelöst und dann Aceton der Äthanollösung zugesetzt. Der Niederschlag wird durch Filtrieren entfernt, worauf man dem Filtrat weiteres Aceton zugibt.
Die ausgeschiedenen Kristalle werden durch Filtrieren gesammelt und aus einer Mischung von Äthanol und Aceton umkristallisiert, wobei man Äthyl-4-(6-aminopurin-9-yl)-4-desoxy-D-erythronat (260 mg) erhält. Schmelzpunkt 159 bis 1600C.
(E) 4-(6-Hydroxypurin-9-yl)-4-desoxy-D-erythronsäure (1,0 g) wird in 40 cm3 wasserfreiem Äthanol gelöst. Dann versetzt man die Lösung mit 490 mg Thionylchlorid und erhitzt das Gemisch währen 6l/2 Stunden unter Rückfluss.
Nach dem Kühlen gibt man dem Reaktionsgemisch ein Ionen austauschharz [OH-Typus, Amberlite IRA-400 (Warenzeichen)] hinzu. Das Gemisch wird gerührt, neutral gestellt und nach dem Entfernen des Ionenaustauschharzes unter vermindertem Druck eingeengt, wobei man 570 mg Kristalle von Äthyl-4-(6-hydroxypurin-9-yl)-4-desoxy-D-erythronat erhält.
Schmelzpunkt 2120C (Zersetzung) (umkristallisiert aus einer Mischung von Äthanol und Aceton). 4-(6-Hydroxypurin-9yl)-4-desoxy-D-erythronsäure (420 mg) wird gewonnen, indem man das gesammelte Ionenaustauscherharz wäscht.
(R) 1.00 g 4-(6-Aminopurin-9-yl)-4-desoxy-D-erythron säure in 50 cm3 n-Propanol und 0,50 cm3 Thionylchlorid werden wie unter (D) behandelt, wobei man 0,70 g 4-(6-Aminopurin-9-yl)-4-desoxy-D-erythronsäurepropylester vom Smp.
188-1890C erhält.
(G) 1,0 g 4-(6-Aminopurin-9-yl)-4-desoxy-2,3-isopropyliden-D-erythronsäure in einer Mischung von 20 cm3 wasserfreiem Äthanol und in 0,4 cm3 konzentrierte Schwefelsäure wird unter Rückfluss während 3 Stunden erhitzt. Dann wird das Reaktionsgemisch allmählich mit einem schwach basischen Ionenaustauschharz, nämlich 9 g [ Amberlite IR-45 (Warenzeichen)] in 20 cm3 50%igem Äthanol versetzt. Das Gemisch wird während 30 Minuten gerührt und das Harz filtriert und mit 50Zigem Äthanol gewaschen. Die Waschwasser werden dem zuvor erhaltenen Filtrat hinzugegeben und das Gemisch wird dann unter vermindertem Druck eingeengt, wobei man 600 mg 4-(6-Aminopurin-9-yl)-4-desoxy-D-erythronsäure äthylester vom Smp. 161-1630C (umkristallisiert aus einer Mischung von Äthanol und Aceton) erhält.
(H) Eine Mischung von 500 mg des Natriumsalzes der 4-(6 Aminopurin-9-yl)-4-desoxy-D-erythronsäure in 10 cm3 Dime thvlformamid und 390 mg Methyliodid wird während 6 Stunden bei 40OC gerührt. Das unlösliche Material wird abfiltriert und das Filtrat unter vermindertem Druck eingeengt. Dann versetzt man den Rückstand mit Methanol und sammelt die ausgeschiedenen Kristalle, wobei man 250 mg 4-(6-Aminopu rin-9-yl)-4-desoxy-D-erythronsäuremethylester vom Smp.
234-'35oC (unter Zersetzung) (umkristallisiert aus Methanol) erhält.
(I) Eine Suspension von 400 mg 4-(6-Hydroxyaminopurin9-yl)-4-desoxy-D-erythronsäure in einer mit Salzsäure gesättigten Äthanollösung wird während 2'/ Stunden unter Rückfluss erhitzt. Nach dem Kühlen werden die ausgefällten Kristalle gesammelt und aus Äthanol umkristallisiert, wobei man 450 mg 4-(6-Hydroxyaminopurin-9-yl) -4-desoxy-D-erythronsäureäthylester vom Smp. 151-1520C (unter Zersetzung) erhält.
(J) 51,0 g Chlorgas werden in 400 ml Isobutylalkohol eingeleitet und darin absorbiert. Dieser Lösung werden 12,0 g 4-(6 Hydroxvaminopurin-9-yl)-4-desoxy-D-erythronsäure zugegeben. Das Reaktionsgemisch wird während 46 Stunden bei Raumtemperatur gerührt. Der Isobutylalkohol wird unter vermindertem Druck entfernt und der verbleibende Rückstand in 200 ml Wasser gelöst. Die wässrige Lösung wird dreimal mit Äther gewaschen und mit Aktivkohle behandelt. Die wässrige Schicht wird abgetrennt und eingeengt und das verbleibende Konzentrat in einer kleinen Menge Wasser gelöst, worauf Aceton zugegeben wird. Die ausgeschiedenen Kristalle werden durch Filtrieren isoliert und mit Aceton gewaschen, wobei 10,6 g 4-(6-Hydroxyaminopurin-9-yl)-4-desoxy-D-erythronsäure-isobutylesterhydrochlorid erhalten werden; Smp; 178180OC (Zers.).
(K) 60,0 g Chlorgas werden in 400 ml n-Amylalkohol eingeleitet und darin absorbiert. Dieser Lösung werden 12,8 g 4 (6-Hydroxyaminopurin-9-yl)-4-desoxy-D-erythronsäure zugegeben. Das Reaktionsgemisch wird während 95 Stunden bei Raumtemperatur gerührt. Der n-Amylalkohol wird unter vermindertem Druck entfernt und dem Rückstand wird Äther zugegeben. Die ausgeschiedene Verbindung wird durch Filtrieren isoliert, mit Äther gewaschen und in 100 ml Wasser unter Erhitzen gelöst. Die Lösung wird mit Aktivkohle behandelt und unter vermindertem Druck zur Trockne eingedampft. Der Rückstand wird in einer kleinen Menge Wasser unter Erhitzen gelöst und der Lösung Aceton zugegeben.
Die ausgeschiedenen Kristalle werden durch Filtrieren isoliert und mit Aceton gewaschen, worauf 13,8 g 4-(6-Hydroxyaminopurin-9-yl)-4- desoxy-D-erythronsäure-n-amylesterhydrochlorid erhalten werden; Smp. 138-1400C (Zers.).
(L) Ein Gemisch von 0,47 g 4-(6-Aminopunn-9-yl)-2 hydroxybuttersäure, 10 ml Isoamylalkohol und 0,1 ml konz.
Schwefelsäure wird während 2 Stunden am Rückfluss zum Sieden erhitzt. Der Isoamylalkohol wird unter vermindertem Druck abdestilliert und der Rückstand mit Natriumcarbonat neutralisiert. Die ausgeschiedenen Kristalle werden durch Filtrieren isoliert und aus Acetonitril umkristallisiert; man erhält 0,51 g 4-(6-Aminopurin-9-yl)-2-hydroxybuttersäureisoamylester von Smp. 136,5-147,50C.
(M) Ein Gemisch von 0,40 g 4-(6-Aminopurin-9-yl)-2hydroxybuttersäure, 10 ml Methanol und 0,1 ml konz. Säure wird in derselben Weise wie unter (L) behandelt und ergibt 0,34 g 4-(6-Aminopurin-9-yl)-hydroxybuttersäuremethylester von Smp. 160,5-161,50C nach Umkristallisieren aus Äthanol.
(N) Ein Gemisch von 0,23 g 4-(6-Aminopurin-9-yl)-2hydroxybuttersäure, 5 ml n-Amylalkohol und 0,05 ml konz.
Schwefelsäure wird in derselben Weise wie unter (L) behandelt und ergibt 0,25 g 4-(6-Aminopurin-9-yl)-2-hydroxybuttersäure-n-amylester von Smp. 135-1360C.
In ähnlicher Weise kann man zu den folgenden Verbindungen gelangen: Methyl-4-(6-aminopurin-9-yl)-4-desoxy-2,3-Oisopropyliden-D-erythronat [Smp. 180 bis 1810C (Zersetzung)]; Athyl-4-(6-hydroxypurin-9-yl)-4-desoxy-2s3-O-diace- tylerythronat [Smp. 188,5 bis 189aC (Zersetzung)]; Äthyl-4 (6-hydroxypurin-9-yl)-4-desoxy-D-erythronat [Smp. 2120C (Zersetzung)]; 4-(6-Aminopurin-9-yl)-4-desoxy-2,3-O-isopro- pyliden-D-threonsäuremethylester [Smp. 211 bis 212oC (Zersetzung)] etc.

The purine compounds of the formula (I) obtained above can be converted into their salts in a manner known per se, for. B. in acid addition salts are converted.
The purine compounds of the formula (I) and their salts generally have a pronounced hypocholesterolemic effect.
Example (A) 4- (6-aminopurin-9-yl) -4-deoxy-2,3-di-O-acetyl-derythronic acid (60 mg) is suspended in 4 cm3 of tetrahydrofuran and treated with an ether solution (2 cm3), containing 25 mg of diazomethane, added with stirring. The mixture is further stirred for 2 hours. Then the reaction mixture is concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue is subjected to column chromatography using neutral aluminum oxide and eluted with a mixture of chloroform and methanol (mixing ratio 10 1), crystals of methyl 4- (6-aminopurin-9-yl) -4-deoxy-2, 3-di-O-acetyl-D-erythronate (38 mg) is obtained.
Melting point 228OC (decomposition).
(B) 4- (6-aminopurin-9-yl) -4-deoxy-D-erythronic acid (100 mg) is suspended in 15 cm3 of tetrahydrofuran and an ether solution (5 cm3) containing 50 mg of diazomethane is added. The mixture is kept at room temperature with stirring. The reaction mixture is then concentrated under reduced pressure to obtain needles in an amount of 82 mg. These consist of methyl 4- (6-aminopurin-9-yl) -4-deoxy-D-erythronate. Melting point 23 10C (with decomposition) (recrystallized from a mixture of methanol and water).
(C) 4- (6-aminopurin-9-yl) -4-deoxy-D-erythronic acid (1.00 g) is suspended in 50 cm3 of methanol. 2 cm 3 of boron trifluoride etherate are then added dropwise to the solution while stirring. The mixture is stirred for 5 hours and then the methanol is evaporated off under reduced pressure. The residue is dissolved in water and neutralized with sodium bicarbonate. The precipitated crystals are collected by filtration, washed with water and then with methanol and recrystallized from a mixture of methanol and water to give methyl 4- (6 aminopurin-9-yl) -4-deoxy-D-erythronate (0.86 g) receives.
Melting point 231OC (with decomposition).
(D) 4- (6-aminopurin-9-yl) -4-deoxy-D-erythronic acid (500 mg) is suspended in 25 cm3 of ethanol. Then the solution is mixed with 0.4 g of conc. Sulfuric acid. The mixture is heated under reflux for 6 hours and poured into an aqueous solution (25 cm3) containing 2.5 g of sodium bicarbonate. The precipitated substance is filtered off. The filtrate is concentrated under reduced pressure at room temperature. The concentrate is dissolved in ethanol and the insoluble material filtered off. The filtrate is concentrated under reduced pressure, the concentrate is dissolved in ethanol and then acetone is added to the ethanol solution. The precipitate is removed by filtration, whereupon more acetone is added to the filtrate.
The precipitated crystals are collected by filtration and recrystallized from a mixture of ethanol and acetone to give ethyl 4- (6-aminopurin-9-yl) -4-deoxy-D-erythronate (260 mg). Melting point 159 to 1600C.
(E) 4- (6-Hydroxypurin-9-yl) -4-deoxy-D-erythronic acid (1.0 g) is dissolved in 40 cm3 of anhydrous ethanol. 490 mg of thionyl chloride are then added to the solution and the mixture is refluxed for 6 1/2 hours.
After cooling, an ion exchange resin [OH type, Amberlite IRA-400 (trade mark)] is added to the reaction mixture. The mixture is stirred, rendered neutral and, after removal of the ion exchange resin, concentrated under reduced pressure, 570 mg of crystals of ethyl 4- (6-hydroxypurin-9-yl) -4-deoxy-D-erythronate being obtained.
Melting point 2120C (decomposition) (recrystallized from a mixture of ethanol and acetone). 4- (6-Hydroxypurine-9yl) -4-deoxy-D-erythronic acid (420 mg) is obtained by washing the collected ion exchange resin.
(R) 1.00 g of 4- (6-aminopurin-9-yl) -4-deoxy-D-erythronic acid in 50 cm3 of n-propanol and 0.50 cm3 of thionyl chloride are treated as under (D), whereby 0.70 g of 4- (6-aminopurin-9-yl) -4-deoxy-D-erythronic acid propyl ester of mp.

(G) 1.0 g of 4- (6-aminopurin-9-yl) -4-deoxy-2,3-isopropylidene-D-erythronic acid in a mixture of 20 cm3 of anhydrous ethanol and 0.4 cm3 of concentrated sulfuric acid is added Heated to reflux for 3 hours. A weakly basic ion exchange resin, namely 9 g of [Amberlite IR-45 (trade mark)] in 20 cm3 of 50% ethanol is then gradually added to the reaction mixture. (H) A mixture of 500 mg of the sodium salt of 4- (6 aminopurin-9-yl) -4-deoxy-D-erythronic acid in 10 cm3 of dimethylformamide and 390 mg of methyl iodide is stirred at 40 ° C. for 6 hours. The insoluble material is filtered off and the filtrate is concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue is then mixed with methanol and the crystals which have separated out are collected, 250 mg of methyl 4- (6-aminopurin-9-yl) -4-deoxy-D-erythronic acid having a melting point of.

(I) A suspension of 400 mg of 4- (6-hydroxyaminopurin9-yl) -4-deoxy-D-erythronic acid in an ethanol solution saturated with hydrochloric acid is refluxed for 2 '/ hour. After cooling, the precipitated crystals are collected and recrystallized from ethanol, 450 mg of ethyl 4- (6-hydroxyaminopurin-9-yl) -4-deoxy-D-erythronic acid having a melting point of 151-1520C (with decomposition) being obtained.
(J) 51.0 g of chlorine gas is introduced into 400 ml of isobutyl alcohol and absorbed therein. 12.0 g of 4- (6 hydroxvaminopurin-9-yl) -4-deoxy-D-erythronic acid are added to this solution. The reaction mixture is stirred for 46 hours at room temperature. The isobutyl alcohol is removed under reduced pressure and the residue that remains is dissolved in 200 ml of water. The aqueous solution is washed three times with ether and treated with activated charcoal. The aqueous layer is separated and concentrated, and the remaining concentrate is dissolved in a small amount of water, followed by adding acetone. The precipitated crystals are isolated by filtration and washed with acetone, 10.6 g of 4- (6-hydroxyaminopurin-9-yl) -4-deoxy-D-erythronic acid isobutyl ester hydrochloride being obtained; M.p .; 178180OC (dec.).
(K) 60.0 g of chlorine gas is introduced into 400 ml of n-amyl alcohol and absorbed therein. 12.8 g of 4 (6-hydroxyaminopurin-9-yl) -4-deoxy-D-erythronic acid are added to this solution. The reaction mixture is stirred for 95 hours at room temperature. The n-amyl alcohol is removed under reduced pressure and ether is added to the residue. The precipitated compound is isolated by filtration, washed with ether and dissolved in 100 ml of water with heating. The solution is treated with activated charcoal and evaporated to dryness under reduced pressure. The residue is dissolved in a small amount of water with heating and acetone is added to the solution.
The precipitated crystals are isolated by filtration and washed with acetone, whereupon 13.8 g of 4- (6-hydroxyaminopurin-9-yl) -4-deoxy-D-erythronic acid n-amyl ester hydrochloride are obtained; M.p. 138-1400C (dec.).
(L) A mixture of 0.47 g of 4- (6-aminopunn-9-yl) -2 hydroxybutyric acid, 10 ml of isoamyl alcohol and 0.1 ml of conc.
Sulfuric acid is refluxed for 2 hours. The isoamyl alcohol is distilled off under reduced pressure and the residue is neutralized with sodium carbonate. The precipitated crystals are isolated by filtration and recrystallized from acetonitrile; 0.51 g of 4- (6-aminopurin-9-yl) -2-hydroxybutyric acid isoamyl ester of melting point 136.5-147.50 ° C. is obtained.
(M) A mixture of 0.40 g of 4- (6-aminopurin-9-yl) -2-hydroxybutyric acid, 10 ml of methanol and 0.1 ml of conc. Acid is treated in the same way as under (L) and gives 0.34 g of methyl 4- (6-aminopurin-9-yl) -hydroxybutyrate of melting point 160.5-161.50 ° C. after recrystallization from ethanol.
(N) A mixture of 0.23 g of 4- (6-aminopurin-9-yl) -2-hydroxybutyric acid, 5 ml of n-amyl alcohol and 0.05 ml of conc.
Sulfuric acid is treated in the same way as under (L) and gives 0.25 g of 4- (6-aminopurin-9-yl) -2-hydroxybutyric acid n-amyl ester of melting point 135-1360C.
The following compounds can be obtained in a similar manner: methyl 4- (6-aminopurin-9-yl) -4-deoxy-2,3-isopropylidene-D-erythronate [mp. 180 to 1810C (decomposition)]; Ethyl 4- (6-hydroxypurin-9-yl) -4-deoxy-2s3-O-diacetyl erythronate [m.p. 188.5 to 189aC (decomposition)]; Ethyl 4 (6-hydroxypurin-9-yl) -4-deoxy-D-erythronate [m.p. 2120C (decomposition)]; 4- (6-aminopurin-9-yl) -4-deoxy-2,3-O-isopropylidene-D-threonic acid methyl ester [mp. 211 to 212oC (decomposition)] etc.
