According to Gericke (Analytical Chemistry of Fertilizers, Enke-Verlag, 1949, page 28), Thomas phosphate contains 15 to 20% citric acid-soluble P2Os. In practice, the P2O5 content is 15 to 17%. The level of this content of citric acid-soluble P2O5 is important for the production of PK mixed fertilizers from Thomas phosphate and potash fertilizer salts. Such a commercial product contains 10% citric acid-soluble P2O5 from Thomas phosphate and 20% K2O from potassium chloride and has the following composition, for example:
40% potassium chlorine (54% K2O)
60% Thomas phosphate (17% P2Os) and, according to DBP 969 208, consists of fine granules with a grain size of about 0.1 to 1 mm.
Another granulate of the 10/20 brand has the following composition according to DBP 973 396:
5.75 t Thomas phosphate (15.6% P2Os)
3.31 t of potassium chloride (54.4% K2O) with a grain size of 0.5 to 4 mm.
These granules were produced by built-up granulation after moistening with 8 to 12% water.
According to DBP 1 257 171, granules of such PK mixed fertilizers can be produced from thermophosphate slag by spraying the liquid phosphate slag and continuously introducing potash fertilizer salt, the solid potash fertilizer salt being added to the outflowing stream of phosphate slag shortly before spraying and by means of a pressurized stream of saturated potash salt solution is granulated and quenched at the same time. The PK fertilizer produced contains 10.2% P2O5 and 19.7% K2O.
For the agricultural chemical application of this PK fertilizer, if the soil has a good P2Os supply, a narrowing of the P2Os: K2O ratio is important. If this PK fertilizer contains thomas phosphate, changing the quantities of thomas phosphate and potash fertilizer salt and changing the K2O content does not result in a significant shift in the composition while maintaining or increasing the K2O content of the fertilizer.
Narrowing the nutrient ratio is usually understood to mean the approximation of the two numbers that express the P2O5 content.
Even when using potash fertilizer salt with 58% K2O, 35 parts by weight of potash fertilizer salt and 65 parts by weight of Thomas phosphate with 17% citric acid-soluble P2O5 only result in a mask of 11/20 of a PK fertilizer.
It should be mentioned that all percentages are based on weight, as is customary in the fertilizer industry.
It has now been found that the method according to the invention reduces the nutrient ratio P2O5 K2O from 10:20 (as before) to the narrower ratios 11.5:20 to 18:20, in particular to ratios from 12:20 to 16:20, and also to the values (12-16) :( 22-24) with an increase in the content of water-insoluble, but citric acid-soluble P2O5 as a component of this PK fertilizer.
This object is achieved according to the invention, according to which a PK mixed fertilizer with the composition 0 / 11.5-18 / 20 or 0 / 12-16 / 22-24 is produced by mixing Thomas phosphate with triple phosphate or phosphoric acid and with potash fertilizer salt mixes in appropriate proportions, adds water or salt solution as granulating liquid to the mixture, converts and granulates the mass in a granulating device and immediately converts and dries it at temperatures of at least 90C C in such a way that practically all P2O5 is converted into a water-insoluble, but citric acid-soluble form becomes.
A granulated PK mixed fertilizer with a restricted nutrient ratio and practically only citric acid-soluble P2O5 can therefore be produced in one process step.
This task cannot be readily accomplished with aqueous phosphoric acid alone, i.e. H. without granulating liquid, because with this P2Os component the upper moisture limit cannot be maintained during granulation.
It was also found that the implementation of Thomas phosphate with triple phosphate practically without reaction between triple phosphate and z. B. potassium chloride, d. H. that can be achieved surprisingly without splitting off hydrochloric acid, with certain reaction conditions. For this purpose, it is generally necessary during the build-up granulation in known granulating devices, such as granulating discs and granulating drums, to determine the granulating moisture, i.e. the granulating moisture, for these specific mixtures of the components. H. adjust the humidity before granulating, above 15%, in particular to about 18 to 20%. The granulation time should be, for example, 3 to 5 minutes.
During the subsequent drying, the temperature of the material to be granulated should be brought to at least 90 ° C., in particular to about 100 to 110 ° C., in order to achieve practically complete conversion to water-insoluble, but citric acid-soluble P2O5.
It has thus been found that it is possible, under certain process conditions, to convert the triple phosphate with the silicocarnotite or with the mixed crystals of the so-called R phase of Thomas phosphate to form secondary calcium phosphate without the triple phosphate reacting with potassium chlorine, with brief granulation and a subsequent rapid heating and drying of the material to be granulated is very preferred, in order to avoid splitting off HCl as far as possible.
The method of the invention is illustrated by the following examples:
Thomas phosphate (16% citric acid-soluble P2O5), and triple phosphate (46% water-soluble P2O5) and potash fertilizer salt as wet salt (chlorine potassium with 54% K2O dry) after mixing and setting a moisture content of about 18% on a granulating plate with a cycle time of about 4 minutes and subsequent drying in the drying drum at a material temperature of 105 ° C. as dry granules.

The desired finished grain can be produced from these granules in a known manner by sieving, comminuting oversized grains and sieving off undersized grains, the undersized and oversized grains z. B. is returned to the starting mixture below 0.05 and above 5 mm.
The granules produced have a high compressive strength of 400 (No. 4) to 640 (No. 1) g / granule and show a surprisingly high abrasion resistance of, for. B. 11.2% (No. 4), but only 3.4% for No. 1.
The compressive strength is determined as follows:
A single grain of the good grain fraction of 2 to 3 mm is slowly loaded on a direct display scale (commercial scale from Bizerba) until the grain breaks and the value in grams / granule is read off. The compressive strength results from the average of 50 individual determinations.
The abrasion resistance is determined using the following method:
The grain fraction of 2 to 3 mm is shaken for 5 minutes with 10 steel balls of 10 mm diameter on the sieving machine (Lavib type from Siebtechnik) while observing the following conditions: 270 vibrations / min .; Amplitude 30 mm; Sieve diameter 20 cm. The abrasion is then obtained as a percentage by screening on a sieve of 0.5 mm mesh size.
After granulation is complete, the mixtures still contain around 3 to 5% water-soluble P2Os in the moist material. This content falls when the material to be granulated is heated during the drying process to, for example, 0.4 to 0.6%.
The following table contains mixtures with the narrowed nutrient ratio P2Os: K2O from 12:20 to 16:20, using chloride-based potassium fertilizer salt with 54% K2O.

For the mixtures of PK fertilizer listed above according to the method of the invention, Thomas phosphate with 16% citric acid soluble P2O5 and triple phosphate with 46% water soluble P2O5 were used.
It has also been found that, according to the method of the invention, it is also possible to use the same starting materials to produce an equally graduated, narrowing nutrient ratio of P2Os: K2O while increasing the K2O content to over 20% K2O.

If triple phosphate is used as a component of the PK mixed fertilizer with lower levels of water-soluble P2Os, e.g. B. is used with 38 to 40% P2O5, there are changes in the quantities, which the expert can determine depending on the brand to be set. It is essential that the process is carried out in such a way that a PK fertilizer with water-insoluble, but citric acid-soluble P2O5 and water-soluble K2O is produced.
If phosphoric acid is used for some of these above-mentioned mixtures of the PK fertilizer according to the invention, the content of water-soluble P2O in the granulated material only goes down after a long storage period of e.g. B. 4 weeks to the same residual content of water-soluble P2O5 of z. B. 0.4% back.
It is also possible, for example, to use potash fertilizer salt with 40 or 50% K2O to produce the PK mixed fertilizer according to the method of the invention, as the following table shows: Ratio Thomas phosphate triple phosphate P2O5. K2O parts by weight Parts by weight
