The invention relates to a further development of the method for the absorption of SiF4-containing exhaust gases in water or aqueous hexafluorosilicic acid according to your main patent number 499 997.
The invention pursues the purpose of using the process criteria of the main patent to produce a concentrated hexafluorosilicic acid which has an H2SiF6 content of more than 20% by weight.
Such concentrated H2SiF6 solutions have the advantage over dilute hexafluorosilicic acid that further processing to numerous technically interesting organic fluorides or hexafluorosilicates is economically significant.
It is known to use a two-stage absorption process for the production of concentrated hexafluorosilicic acids from exhaust gases, whereby both the relatively high vapor pressure of such acids on SiF4 and the air hygiene requirements are taken into account.
In the first stage, the exhaust gases containing SiF4 are absorbed in a concentrated H2SiF6 solution and in a second stage, the F component is subsequently absorbed in water or dilute hexafluorosilicic acid, which is due to the high SiF4 vapor pressure of the concentrated hexafluorosilicic acid in the first stage cannot be absorbed.
Experiments carried out to use the process according to the main patent in a two-stage process for the absorption of hot SiF4-containing exhaust gases, as shown, for example, in the digestion of concentrated hexafluorosilicic acid, that when the SiF4 exhaust gases are absorbed, which have a temperature of 80 have up to 100'C,
stubborn silica deposits occur in the first absorption stage if a hexatluorosilicic acid with a content of more than 20% H2SiF6 is used to sprinkle the slotted floors.
The purpose of the invention is to eliminate this occurring disadvantage: The object of the present invention is to carry out the absorption process in accordance with the process criteria of the main patent in a two-stage process arrangement so that when a concentrated H2SiF6 solution is used for irrigation in the First absorption stage, there is no silica deposits on the slotted floors.
It has now been found that an encrustation of silicic acid or silicic acid hydrate on the webs of the slot floors during the absorption of SiF4-containing exhaust gases in concentrated hexafluorosilicic acid can be avoided if the temperature during the absorption process in the first stage is 60 ° C does not exceed.
At temperatures above 6 C, in the presence of concentrated hexafluorosilicic acid, the originally strongly hydrated silicic acid condenses very quickly, according to the following reaction equation:
EMI0001.0072
This rapid condensation is the cause of the formation of hard incrustations on the slot floors.
When producing concentrated hexafluorosilicic acid with a H2SiF6 content of at least 20% by weight, the circulating acid used for absorption must, according to the invention, have a temperature in the absorption suspension of the first absorption stage, consisting of hexafluorosilicic acid and silicic acid hydrate, of a maximum of 60 ° C., preferably 50 up to 60 ° C.
The necessary cooling of the absorption system can be done by cooling the circulating acid with known cooling units such as cooling coils, cooling bags, etc., while the cooling of the exhaust gases to be absorbed is more expedient by adding cold dilution air.
The following relationship exists between the maximum permissible temperature during absorption and the maximum permissible H2SiF6 concentration:
EMI0001.0104
Two exemplary embodiments follow, the absorption device used being a two-stage absorption system which is equipped with 3 slotted trays per absorption tower in accordance with the device specified in the main patent.
EXAMPLE 1 10,000 m3 / h of an exhaust gas diluted with cold air at a temperature of 60 ° C. and a SiF4 content of 10 g / m 'flow through the 1st and 2nd stages of a two-stage absorption system in succession. In the first absorption stage, an absorption suspension containing 25% H2SiF6 at a temperature of 55 ° C is sprinkled. In the first-stage slotted floor absorption tower, 87% of the SiF4 contained in the exhaust gas is absorbed.
In the second stage of the absorption process, the remaining exhaust gases from the first stage are absorbed by sprinkling with an absorption suspension with a SiF4 content of 4%. In the initial charge of this stage, 0.30 m 'of fresh water is added every hour, while 0.30 m' of the 4% H2SiF6-containing absorption suspension of the second absorption stage is returned to the initial charge of the first absorption stage every hour. From the presentation of the first absorption stage, 0.30 m 'of an absorption suspension containing 25% H2SiF6 run off every hour.
The exhaust gases from the two-stage absorption system contain 20 mg F / m3. Example 2 10,000 m3 / h of fluorine-containing exhaust gases with a temperature of 85 ° C. and a content of 15 g / m3 SiF4 flow successively through a two-stage absorption device consisting of two slotted floor absorbers. In the first stage, the slotted floors are sprinkled with an absorption suspension containing 30% H2SiF6, which is pumped in a circuit via a cooling system consisting of trickle coolers. The absorption suspension is cooled to 50'C. Under these conditions, 86% of the SiF4 contained in the gas is deposited in the first stage of the slotted bottom absorber.
In the second stage, the exhaust gases from the first stage are then trickled into with absorption suspension containing 5% H2SiF6, with the remaining SiF4 content being separated out. In this case, 0.36 m 'of fresh water per hour is added to the receiver for the second absorption stage, while the same volume of 5% H2SiF6 is transferred to the template for the first absorption stage. From the first stage, 0.36 m 'of an absorption suspension containing 30% H2SiF6 is drawn off every hour. The exhaust gases leave the absorption system with an F content of 30 mg / m '.
