Selon l'invention, on décolore les fibres dans un bain de décoloration constitué par de l'eau adoucie additionnée par 100 litres d'eau, de 100 g environ de carbonate de soude (c03 Na2) ou de bicarbonate de soude (co3 HNa), et de 1 litre environ de soude caustique liquide (Na OH) à 36 Bé, ce bain étant porté à 90 C environ et les fibres étant maintentles dans le bain à cette température pendant au moins ne minutes;
on traite les fibres sans rinçage intermédiaire dans un bain de blanchiment constitué par de l'eau additionnée, par 100 litres d'eau, de 100 g environ de savon vert et 1,5 dl environ de silicate de soude liquide, qui est amené à l'ébullition et auquel on ajoute au moment de ltébullition, par 100 litre d'eau, 5 dl environ d'eau oxygénée à 130 volumes, les fibres étant maintenues constamment immergées dans ce bain pendant 90 minutes environ; on traite les fibres dans un bain d'ensimage constitué par une solution aqueuse contenant 10 cl environ d'acide formique pour 100 kg de fibres et un produit d'ensimage conservant ses qualités en milieu acide, le bain étant porté à au moins 400 C et les fibres étant maintenues dans le bain pendant 30 minutes environ;
Chemical treatment process for flax for its
preparation for spinning.
In French patent No. 927,148, different chemical treatments are proposed, with a view to softening and splitting the husked hemp fibers0
Although flax and hemp are not without points in common, these treatments, moreover ill-defined as to their succession and their conditions of application, would not make it possible to obtain a satisfactory preparation of the flax for its spinning. .
The present invention aims to fill this gap.
It relates to a process for the chemical treatment of flax with a view to preparing this fiber for spinning, this treatment, applicable to both retted flax and green flax, having the aim of stripping the treated fiber of the tommes binding the fibrils between they.
According to the invention, the fibers are decolorized in a bleaching bath consisting of softened water added with 100 liters of water, approximately 100 g of sodium carbonate (CO 3 Na2) or baking soda (CO 3 HNa) , and approximately 1 liter of liquid caustic soda (Na OH) at 36 Bé, this bath being brought to approximately 90 ° C. and the fibers being maintentles in the bath at this temperature for at least one minute;
the fibers are treated without intermediate rinsing in a bleaching bath consisting of water to which 100 liters of water have been added approximately 100 g of green soap and approximately 1.5 dl of liquid sodium silicate, which is brought to boiling and to which is added at the time of boiling, per 100 liter of water, about 5 dl of hydrogen peroxide at 130 volumes, the fibers being kept constantly immersed in this bath for about 90 minutes; the fibers are treated in a sizing bath consisting of an aqueous solution containing approximately 10 cl of formic acid per 100 kg of fibers and a sizing product retaining its qualities in an acidic medium, the bath being brought to at least 400 ° C. and the fibers being kept in the bath for about 30 minutes;
the fibers are washed in softened water and wrung out before drying them at a temperature not exceeding 600 C.
When carrying out the invention, use will preferably be made of baths established in a ratio, by weight, of 20 to 1 with the fibers.
Thus, for example, 100 kg of flax will be treated in a tank of about 2000 liters which can easily be heated and which is equipped with a steam inlet and a water inlet as well as a drain line.
For the bleaching bath, the fibers will preferably be soaked first in only softened water which will be brought to approximately 500 ° C. before the addition of the carbonate or bicarbonate of soda and the caustic soda carried out in the bath maintained in circulation. The bath will then be brought to the desired temperature of about 900 in 30 minutes for example, to leave the fibers immersed at this temperature for a further D0 minutes before evacuating the bath, to establish the bleaching bath in the same tank, without intermediate rinse.
For this bleaching bath, it is preferable to introduce into the tank water preheated to about 800 C, to which the green soap and sodium silicate will be mixed before adding, at the time of boiling, the oxygenated water. In the event of overflow, the level of the bath will be topped up by adding water at 80 ° C., so as to keep the fiber immersed.
The size product will preferably be a mixture of soap and sulphonated fatty substance derivatives such as the product branded "Traminol B", and which will be used at a rate of 1 liter per 100 kg of fibers, for example. This addition makes it possible to emulsify the small quantity of mineral oil present, which can thus be completely removed.
The final washing of the fibers will preferably be done twice and their drying can be done in the open air.
For the treatment of green flax, either harvest Tin as it is at maturity, then the seeds can be separated from the stem, it will be subjected to ginning and scutching treatments to separate the seeds beforehand. stems and the straw of the fiber, the fiber divided into length and open can then be processed both in the form of floss and floche cord.
