Beispiel 3

Beispiel 43
Process for the production of azo dyes
The invention relates to azo dyes and their metal complex compounds obtained by coupling 1 or 2 mol of a diazo component with, for. B.
a bis-1- [2-hydroxy-3-carboxyphenyl] methane, which are excellent for dyeing leather.
It has been found that dyes and mixtures of such dyes or mixtures with other dyes and their metal complex compounds and mixtures of such metal complex compounds which correspond in the metal-free form to the formula
EMI1.1
wherein
R1 is hydrogen or an optionally substituted alkyl radical, Rs is hydrogen or an optionally substituted alkyl or aryl radical, each of the radicals Rs is hydrogen, the sulfonic acid group or an optionally substituted alkyl radical, each of the radicals R4 is hydrogen or an optionally substituted alkyl or aryl radical,
D denotes the remainder of a diazo component and n denotes 1 or 2, are excellent for dyeing leather.
The optionally metal-containing dyes of the formula (I) can be obtained by converting n mol of the diazo compound from an amine of the formula D-NH (11) with 1 mol of a compound of the formula
EMI2.1
or with a metal complex compound of a. Coupling compound of formula (III).
Good dyes correspond to the formula in the metal-free form
EMI2.2
Dyes of the formula (IV) in which R1, R2 and Et3 denote hydrogen have particularly good properties. (Formula IVa). Similar good dyes correspond to the formula
EMI2.3
in which A and / or B carries a sulfonic acid group in the 2-position of the ring B, and the nitro group is in the para-position to the NH group.
Equally good dyes correspond to the formula
EMI2.4
wherein A and B have the meanings given above. The sulfonic acid group is preferably in the 2-position of ring B and the nitro group in the para-position to the NH group. Particularly good dyes correspond to the I formula
EMI2.5
The azo dyes obtained in this way can be used in substance with metal donating agents, e.g. B. be treated with chlorine, iron, cobalt, copper, manganese or nickel releasing agents in such a way that metal-containing compounds are formed. The metal-containing azo dyes of the formula (I) can also be obtained by coupling the diazo compound from an I-amine of the formula (II) with a metal-containing compound of the formula (III).
The coupling can be carried out by methods known per se.
The metallization is advantageously carried out in an aqueous medium, optionally with the addition of an organic solvent, or in an organic solvent. It is advantageous to chromate with 1 or 2 moles of a chromium-releasing compound in the presence of 2 to 4 moles of salicylic acid.
It is preferable to work in an acidic medium, but the metallization can, if necessary, also be carried out in a neutral to alkaline medium.
Suitable copper compounds are e.g. B. cupric sulfate, cupriformate, cupric acetate or cupric chloride.
The nickel compounds used are e.g. Nickel formate, nickel acetate and nickel sulfate. Suitable compounds of chromium are, for. B. Chromitrioxid, Chromifluorid, Chromisulfat, Chromiformiat, Chromiacetat, Kaliumchromisulfat or Ammoniumchrormisulfat. The chromates, e.g. B. sodium or potassium chromate or bichromate are ideal for metallization.
As manganese, cobalt or iron compounds z. B. manganese, cobalt or iron formate, acetate or sulfate.
Alkyl radical, e.g. B. the radicals R1 to RI advantageously contain 1 to 6 or 1 to 3 carbon atoms. You can be substituted by halogen, such as chlorine, bromine or fluorine, by the hydroxyl or cyano group or by an aryl, z. B. phenyl group. In such cases the alkyl group means an aralkyl group.
Aryl radicals are preferably phenyl radicals which, for example, by halogen, such as chlorine, bromine or fluorine, optionally substituted alkyl or alkoxy radicals or by cyano, nitro, hydroxyl, an amino, an alkylsulfonyl, an alkylcarbonyl, an alkylsulfonylamino , an arylsulfonylamino group or can be substituted by the sulfonic acid or carboxylic acid group. Aryl radicals can also stand for an optionally substituted naphthyl radical.
Residues of diazotizable amines of the formula (II) are, for example, radicals of the benzene or Nahphthalin series or of the heterocyclic series which can carry any substituents, e.g. B. the sulfonic acid group, also halogen (such as chlorine, bromine or fluorine), the nitro group, an amino group, acylamino, carboxyl, hydroxyl, optionally substituted alkyl or alkoxy, alkylsulfonyl, arylsulfonyl, sulfonic acid amide, the nitrile group, trifluoroalkyl or an arylazo group, such as a phenyl or naphthylazo group.
Identical or different compounds of the formula (II) can be used in the process according to the invention. The optionally metallized dyes obtained are used for dyeing or printing animal fibers or synthetic fibers or, in particular, for dyeing leather. Mixtures of several, optionally metallized, dyes can also be used for this purpose.
When dyed on leather of various tannings, the dyes have excellent leveling properties. They also have very good dyeing and penetration properties and good lightfastness.
Compared to the closest comparable dyes from Belgian patent specification 707 644, the dyes of the formula (I) have better acid fastness and better acid stability; they also dye leather in purer shades; nor are any by-products obtained during manufacture.
Compounds of the formula (III) can be obtained by reacting 2 mol of a salicylic acid or a salicylic acid ester with 1 mol of an aldehyde, for example in the presence of an inorganic or organic acid.
For this purpose, aliphatic or aromatic aldehydes or aldehyde-releasing compounds, e.g. B. acetals, can be used, e.g. B. formaldehyde, paraformaldehyde, acetaldehyde. Propionaldehyde,; Benzaldehyde, pa ra-Dimethylaminobenzaldebyd, etc.
In the following examples, the parts are parts by weight and the percentages are percentages by weight. The temperatures are given in degrees Celsius.
Example I 309 parts of 4-amino-4'-nitro-2'-sulfodiphenylamine are diazotized as usual. The diazonium compound is added dropwise to a template of 288 parts of bis-1 [2-hydroxy-3-carboxy-phenyl] methane, dissolved in an aqueous sodium hydroxide solution.
The coupling takes place at a pH of 10-13 and a temperature of 0-220. The solution is then acidified to the Congo and the dye is isolated by adding sodium chloride. It is a yellow-brown powder when dried and is very soluble in water. He dyes leather in an even yellow-brown shade.
Example 2
The dye obtained according to the information in Example 1, dissolved in an aqueous sodium hydroxide solution, is mixed with 280 parts of salicylic acid at a pH value of 12, the solution is heated to 90 "and then 500 parts of chrome alum are added pH of 10-11 and a temperature of 98-100 "stirred. The dye metallized in this way is isolated by adding hydrochloric acid and sodium chloride and dried.
He dyes leather in level, lightfast yellow-brown tones.
Example 3
618 parts of 4-amino-4'-nitro-2'-sulfodiphenylamine are diazotized in the customary manner and at a pH of 10-12 with 288 parts of bis-1- [2-hydroxy-3carboxyphenyl-methane. dissolved in an aqueous sodium hydroxide solution, coupled. The dissolved dye is then treated with a solution of a salicvlatochrome complex containing 30 parts of Cr, On and salicylic acid.
and metallized at a pH of 10-11 for one hour at 98-100 ". The dye is isolated by adding sodium chloride at a pH of 5 and then dried at 10ovo. It dyes leather in level, lightfast yellow-brown Tones.
Example 4
199 parts of 1-hydroxy-2-amino4,6-dinitrobenzene are usually diazotized.
The diazonium compound is coupled with 288 parts of bis 1 - [2-hydroxy-3-carboxyphenyl] methane, dissolved in an aqueous sodium hydroxide solution, and the compound thus obtained is coupled with 173 parts of diazotized 1-amino-3-sulfobenzene at pH coupled by 12. The solution is adjusted to a pH of 3 and the dye is deposited with sodium chloride.
The dried dye is readily soluble in water and dyes leather in level yellow-brown shades with good general fastness properties. The corresponding chromium complex can be produced according to the information in Example 2. He dyes leather in yellow-brown tones.
Example 5
Analogously to Example 4, 199 parts of the diazo compound from 1W-hydroxy-2-amino-4, 6-dinitrobenzene are coupled as usual with 288 parts of bis-1- [2-hydroxy-3-carboxyphenyl] methane. The compound so obtained is coupled in an aqueous sodium hydroxide solution with a diazo compound obtained by coupling 309 parts of 4-amino4'-nitro-2'-suifodiphenylamine with 223 parts of 1-aminonaphthalene-6-sulfonic acid.
The solution is made acidic to the Congo and the dye is isolated with sodium chloride.
tThe water-soluble dye dyes wool and leather in havana brown shades with good levelness.
The corresponding chromium complex can be prepared as described in Example 2; he dyes leather in havana brown tones.
The structure of other dyes is given in the table below. They can be obtained according to the information in Example 1.
In column II, n1 stands for n mol or 1st diazo component and in column V n2 stands for n mol of the 2nd diazo component.

Example 43
1 mol of the monoazo dye obtained according to Example 1 is dissolved in water and treated with 1 mol of the diazotized monoazo dye, prepared by coupling 4-diazo-4'-nitro-2'-sulfodiphenylamine with 1 mol of 1 aminonaphthalene-6-sulfonic acid, at pH -Value of 10-13 combined. After coupling, the solution is made acidic with the dye and the dye is isolated by adding sodium chloride. When dry, it is a brown powder that dissolves well in water and colors leather in brilliant, even and real Havana tones.
The chromium complexes of Examples 6 to 43 can be prepared as described in Example 2. The nuances of their colorations on leather correspond to those given in the metal-free form.
Staining instructions
100 parts of freshly tanned and neutralized chrome grain leather are drummed in a liquor of 250 parts of water at 65C and 1 part of the dye prepared according to Example 1 or 2 for 30 minutes in the dyeing drum, in the same bath with 2 parts of an anionic fat liquor based on sulfonated oil for another 30 Treated minutes and dried and trimmed in the usual way. A yellow-brown shade of leather which is very evenly colored is obtained.
