Stabilisator 2 2 Teile
Shorehärte A 66 A 66

Toy and advertising figures, method and mass for their manufacture
This invention relates to toy and advertising figures, including dolls, as well as a method for their production and a modelable mass for its execution. The toy and advertising figures are made of elastic material and are characterized by the fact that the elastic material shows a slow recovery to the extent that at 23 C the deformation is 25 to 90% after 5 seconds and 5 to 50% after 60 seconds .
The inertia of recovery is measured by stretching the material 100% and holding it in this position for one minute. After letting go, the material still partially retains its deformation and slowly returns to its original length. The remaining deformation is measured as a function of time.
If the figures are deformed and then released, they move for a longer period of time until they have finally regained their original shape. The purpose of the invention is that the figures create a lively impression through this slow movement.
It is more advantageous if the softest possible material is used. The Shore hardness according to DIN 53 505, measured after 15 seconds at 23 C, should not exceed the value A 80.
The figures can be made of solid or foamed material. Smaller figures are best made solid, while foamed material is more advantageous for larger dolls.
A particularly suitable material for the massive figures is a plasticized polyvinyl chloride that contains 20 to 120 parts of dicyclohexyl phthalate and 0 to 100 parts of another primary plasticizer and 0 to 100 parts of a secondary plasticizer per 100 parts of polyvinyl chloride or vinyl chloride copolymer.
A particularly advantageous material for the production of dolls and larger figures is a flexible polyvinyl chloride foam that contains 20 to 120 parts of dicyclohexyl phthalate and 0 to 100 parts of another primary plasticizer and 0 to 100 parts of a secondary plasticizer per 100 parts of polyvinyl chloride or vinyl chloride copolymer, and which is used in the usual way is foamed by a blowing agent.
The method according to the invention is characterized in that a plastic gel made from plasticizer and polyvinyl chloride or vinyl chloride copolymer with the addition of a thickener is shaped into the desired figure and the shaped figure is heated to the gelling temperature of the plastic gel. Such a plastigel has the property that it can be easily modeled and can be gelled to an elastic mass by heating without dissolving.
A particularly suitable material for a mass that can be modeled by heating to form elastic figures with slow recovery behavior is a plastigel which contains 20 to 100 parts of dicyclohexyl phthalate and 0 to 100 parts of another primary plasticizer and 0 to 100 parts of a secondary plasticizer per 100 parts of polyvinyl chloride or vinyl chloride copolymer . Particularly advantageous for this purpose is an emulsion polymer whose Fikentscher K value - measured in cyclohexanone - is greater than 65.
The use of dicyclohexyl phthalate as a plasticizer for polyvinyl chloride in combination with other primary plasticizers is known. However, it does not emerge from the specialist literature that such mixtures have an inert recovery behavior and are therefore particularly suitable as material for the dolls and figures according to the invention.
It was also not known that the addition of a secondary plasticizer had the particular advantage of reducing the hardness of the polyvinyl chloride plasticized with dicyclohexyl phthalate without significantly accelerating the slow recovery.
Exemplary embodiments of the invention are described below.
Examples 1 and 2
Example No. 1 2
Vinyl chloride copolymer 100 100 parts
Dicyclohexyl phthalate 50 35 parts
Secondary plasticizer (aromatic mineral oil extract) 50 35 parts
Stabilizer 2 2 parts
Shore hardness A 66 A 66
Recovery after 5 seconds 80% 45%
Recovery after 60 seconds 30% 10%
These two mixtures gel at 150 to 200 C and can be processed into solid figures by injection molding.
Example 3
Polyvinyl chloride 100 parts
Dicyclohexyl phthalate 40 parts aromat. Mineral oil extract 40 parts
Stabilizer 4 parts
Propellant (diphenyloxide-4,4'-disulfohydrazide) 8 parts
This mixture gels and expands at 175 to 1800 C in 10 to 20 minutes to form a flexible foam. It can be processed into dolls and figures using the injection molding or hollow body casting process. In the latter process, a gel skin can be produced by previously rinsing the mold with a plastisol that does not contain any propellant.
Example 4
Polyvinyl chloride 36.0 parts
Vinyl chloride copolymer 6.0 parts
Dicyclohexyl phthalate 15.0 parts
Primary plasticizer (polyadipate) 19.0 parts
Aromatic mineral oil extract 15.0 parts
Stabilizer 1.2 parts of finely divided silica 7.2 parts
Pigment paste 0.6 parts
The mixture is kneaded at about 70 ° C. for 2 hours.
The result is an easily kneadable and malleable plastic gel, which can be gelled at 175 C to form elastic figures with slow recovery.
