Treibspiegelgeschoss
Sabot bullet
The invention relates to a sabot projectile with a projectile core and a sabot and with an expandable securing element which is arranged between an inner, rearward-opening conical surface on the sabot and an outer, rearward-opening conical surface on the projectile core.
A sabot bullet of this type is already known in which a securing element in the form of an open wire ring is arranged between a conical retaining pin in the rear of the projectile core and a conical inner wall on the sabot. The conical inner wall of the sabot is open to the rear and has a larger opening angle than the conical retaining pin. The bullet core in the sabot is secured against forward displacement when the sabot lock is handled by the wire ring. After the sabot projectile has been fired, the wire ring is moved backwards over the conical retaining pin so that the connection between the sabot and the projectile core is released.
The well-known sabot bullet is not suitable for firing from automatic weapons with high cadence. The acceleration and deceleration forces that occur when the ammunition is fed to the weapon are so great that the connection between the sabot and the projectile is already released when the I-carrying shock is triggered by the acceleration. Even if this connection should hold, the loading shock caused by the delay will cause deformations at the contact point of the wire, which result in uncontrollable play between the projectile core rear and the support in the sabot.
In this case, the sabot hits the projectile core at a high speed when it is fired, which destroys the sabot.
It is the object of the invention to provide a sabot projectile in which the connection between the sabot and the projectile core does not have the above-mentioned disadvantages and in which at the same time the securing element participating in the connection has an easily producible shape. According to the invention, this is achieved in that the two conical surfaces are equally inclined and that the securing element also has a conical shape, the inclination of the inner and outer surface of the securing element corresponding to the inclination of the two aforementioned conical surfaces.
The present invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the exemplary embodiments shown in the accompanying drawings. Show it:
1 shows a first exemplary embodiment of a sabot projectile, shown in longitudinal section, the projectile core being held on the tip of the projectile by a securing element.
FIG. 2 shows a variant of FIG. 1, with a different embodiment of the projectile tip and the safety element.
3 shows a further embodiment of a sabot projectile according to the invention, also shown in longitudinal section, with an arrangement of the securing element in a conical groove in the cylindrical part of the projectile core.
According to Fig. 1 is a projectile core, which describe the trajectory and z. B. is to penetrate a panver plate, denoted by 1. The projectile core 1 has a frustoconical rear part 4, a cylindrical central part 2 and an ogive projectile tip 3 barrel. A tracer set 5 is arranged in a central blind bore 6 made in the projectile core 1 from behind. The projectile core 1 consists, in a known manner, of a heavy hard metal, e.g. B. tungsten dder steel, and is in a sabot 7 made of a suitable material, for. B. light metal or plastic embedded.
The sabot 7 has a cylindrical base body 8 and an abutment 9 screwed into this from the front for the projectile core 1 barrel. The base body 8 has a central bore 10, which in the rear part is adapted to the outer diameter Ides Oeschosskernes 1 and is widened in the front part so that an annular space 11 is formed between the bullet core 1 and the base body 8.
The frustoconical rear part 4 of the projectile core 1 is supported on a flange projection 22 projecting inward from the bore 10. This flange attachment 22 forms a shinter abutment which can be deformed when the sabot projectile is fired.
A sealing ring 12 is inserted in a circumferential groove 13 in the wall of the bore 10, which prevents moisture from penetrating into the propellant charge of the sabot projectile; Furthermore, a guide band 14 is inserted into a circumferential groove 15 @ of the abutment 9, which presses itself into the trains of a cannon barrel, not shown, when the sabot bullet boots and transfers the twist thus generated to the projectile core 1. A sealing tape 17 inserted into a circumferential groove 16 in the base body 8 is intended to prevent the pipe from being washed out by the propellant gases.
The abutment 9 has a central bore 43 land, the diameter of which is at least as large as the diameter of the projectile core 1.
To the rear, the bore 43 merges into an approximately conical surface 18. The conical surface 18 is adjacent to the ogive projectile tip 3 and is at the same distance from it in all points. The ogive projectile tip 3 with its step adjacent to the conical surface 18 forms a conical surface 23 that is also approximated. Between the conical surface 23 on the projectile tip 3 and the conical surface 18 on the abutment 9, a conical annular space 19 is formed in which a securing element 20 is arranged. The fuse element 20 consists of several turns of a metal wire 21, preferably spring steel wire.
which metal wire 21 forms a conical screw hole of the i. The front abutment 9 is screwed into the base body 8 until the bullet tip 3 is supported via the locking element 20 on the conical surface 18 of the abutment 9 and the bullet core 1 thus forms against the rear abutment the flange edge 22 is pressed. The projectile core 1 is then held in the sabot 7 without play.
In FIG. 2, parts which correspond to parts in FIG. 1 are provided with the same reference numerals and are not described in more detail here. Since the projectile core 1 does not have a tracer set in the illustrated case, the base body 8 of the sabot 7 is closed off by a bottom 24 towards the rear. The cylindrical base body 8 is provided with a central blind hole 25.
In the base of the blind bore 25 a frustoconical recess 26 is made, in which 1 the projectile core 1 with its frustoconical rear part 4 sits. A sleeve 27 is fitted into the blind bore 25 and is supported on the base of the blind bore 25 and encloses the cylindrical central part 2 of the projectile core 1. The sleeve 27 is preferably made of plastic. The abutment 9 is in turn screwed from the front into the base body 8 of the sabot 7. The central bore in the abutment 9 widens towards the rear and simulates one. conical surface opened at the rear 28.
The bullet tip 3 Ides bullet core is also conical. With the rear part of its conical surface 29, the projectile tip 3 is adjacent to the conical surface 28 of the abutment 9. Both conical surfaces 28, 29 are adjacent to one another and are at the same distance in all points. In a conical annular space 30 between the two conical surfaces 28, 29 is the securing element 20, which consists of an open, conical sleeve 31 for the purpose of absorbing extremely high feed loads. The conical sleeve 31 has several axial incisions 32 evenly distributed on the circumference.
In Fig. 3 again parts which correspond to parts in Figs. 1 and 2 are provided with the same reference numerals. The projectile core 1 is secured against displacement to the rear by a rear, adjustable abutment.
This abutment consists of an eyebolt 33 screwed into the base body 8 of the sabot 7 from behind. The eyebolt 33 has a front support surface 34 adapted to the frustoconical rear part 4 of the projectile core 1. The base body 8 has a conical inner surface 35 tapering towards the front. Adjacent to this conical inner surface 35, fine conical groove 36 is made on the cylindrical central part 2 of the projectile core 1.
The securing element 20 here again consists of several turns of a metal wire 21 which is wound into a conical helical spring and prevents the projectile core 1 from being displaced forwards. A guide body 37 for the cylindrical central part 2 of the projectile core 1 is anchored by means of several grooves 38 in the base body 8 of the sabot 7, preferably by injection. On the other hand, a guide ring 39 is also anchored in the guide body 37 by means of several grooves 40. The guide body 37 has a plurality of axially directed pressure compensation grooves 41 distributed on the inside diameter.
A plastic protective hood 42 extending forward and surrounding the ogive projectile tip 3 is anchored to the guide body 37.
The following mode of operation results from the above-mentioned structure of the sabot projectiles according to the invention:
When the ammunition is fed into automatic weapons, the entrainment shock is absorbed by the rear abutment 22, 26, 34 in the sabot 7. The loading shock when the cartridge is inserted into the cartridge chamber is caused by the safety element 20, which is located between the conical surface 18, 28, tbzw. 35 on the sabot 7 and the conical surface 23, 29 or 36 generally arranged projectile core 1 is received.
Due to the conical design of the securing element 20, it is able to absorb very large forces. When the sabot projectile is fired, the rear abutment 22, 26, 34 is deformed and the projectile core is deformed
1 slides back a little. The securing element 20 is thus released and, due to its mass inertia, slides backwards along the conical surface 23, 29 or 36 into the annular space 11.
Due to the twist of the sabot bullet, the securing element expands and rests against the inner wall of the base body 8, which delimits the annular space 11 outwards. The securing element 20 remains in the sabot 7 and the I-bullet core 1 can leave the sabot 7 after leaving the muzzle , as this is decelerated very strongly due to its greater air resistance compared to the projectile core.
