Description
Osteosynthetic pressure plate and matching countersunk bone screws The claim of the main patent relates to an osteosynthetic pressure plate and matching countersunk bone screws, at least one screw hole being designed as a sliding slot extending in the longitudinal direction of the plate, the countersink of each sliding slot forming the screw seat having a bevel at one end of the slot is so inclined
that when the screw head is lowered at this end of the sliding slot, the plate is forcibly displaced in the longitudinal direction away from the fracture site, while at the other end of the slot the counterbore is formed as the screw head adapted to limit the longitudinal displacement of the plate, and furthermore the end stop surface The length of the slot is dimensioned so that the end stop surface can be pushed towards and away from the screw head when the screw head is completely lowered but the plate is not locked. These plates have proven themselves well in all tests.
The present invention now relates to an improvement of such plates which have at least four or more screw holes and which consists in that one of the central screw holes is designed as a sliding slot.
The single figure of the accompanying drawing shows as an embodiment of the invention a bone plate 1 with six screw holes 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, which are arranged in two groups of three holes. one of the two middle holes, namely the hole 4, is designed here as a sliding slot extending in the longitudinal direction of the plate, as described in the main patent, that the countersink of each sliding slot forming the screw slot has a bevel at one end of the slot, which the - is kind of inclined,
that when the screw head is lowered at this end of the sliding slot, the plate is inevitably moved in the longitudinal direction away from the fracture site, while at the other end of the slot the countersink is designed as an end stop surface that is adapted to the screw head and limits the longitudinal displacement of the plate and the slot is also longer is dimensioned so that the end stop surface can be pushed towards and away from the screw head when the screw head is completely sunk in, but the plate is not firmly clamped.
Because the point where the screw rests on the plate is at a certain distance from the bone surface, a moment is exerted when the plate is tensioned that could open the fracture gap. This danger is naturally high if a screw is first used at the end of the panel for tensioning. The special design of the bone plate, in which at least one of the central holes is designed as a sliding slot, enables the clamping screw to be inserted there so that the entire plate counteracts the opening of the fracture gap.
